Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden > Prodisc, Linkyo, Fuji

the price difference is not worth it to me...i don't care about the brand until i burn a bad disc...so until that day i will save my money and you can stick with your more expensive name brands...and my link doesn't require any codes or mail in rebates...http://www.supermediastore.com/free-fujifilm-8x-dvd-r-media-20-pack.html?WT.mc_id=emailsuperdvdactive050504[Edited on May 3, 2005 at 11:35 PM. two of those name-brand deals end up being cheaper than your shit-brand dealand who cares about codes or rebates? codes are instant and rebates don't take that long. one time i actually received a Verbatim rebate before i got the credit card bill. unexpected but nice.i'm only posting options. anybody that is looking for deals can make their own choices.i will save my money roughly spend the same amount as you and you can stick with your more expensive better quality name brands [Edited on May 3, 2005 at 11:54 PM. you are only counting 100 dvds though...not 120...so two of those deals may not be cheaperlol...it's all good though...whatever works for ya
5/4/2005 12:09:27 AM
is it too much to ask to just get a good deal on verbatim disks without having to do all that mail in rebate stuff...i just wanna get a good price without all the hassel
5/5/2005 5:11:37 AM
is it too much to ask to spell "hassle" properly? -ZiP!-

Can anyone tell me what media code those are from Staples? I'm mainly interested in the DVD+R's. Thanks.
5/16/2005 1:18:39 AM
5/16/2005 1:36:11 AM
probably CMC MAG.E01 for the DVD+R'smaybe someone that bought some can confirm that
5/16/2005 1:39:41 AM
5/16/2005 11:12:27 AM
What's the big deal about a 'media code'?
5/16/2005 1:01:13 PM
it tells you which manufacturer really made the disc
5/16/2005 1:44:52 PM
I just picked up a spindle of the 50 DVD-Rs at the Staples in Cary. They're $7.94 and 8x. I don't see any kind of media code on the package though, but it doesn't really concern me. The only number I see is "#DMRPK508GL-US" above the barcode.
5/16/2005 6:10:38 PM
it won't be on the package. use something like DVD Identifier to find the media code. if you have Nero or Plextools, you can also use those to find the media code.
5/16/2005 10:45:01 PM
good media really makes a difference.i have a picky all region dvd player. i used prodisc+r's exclusively for a while now and some discs skip or stop playing alltogether (not all). i've since switched over the MCC or TY discs and have had no problems whatsoever.the prodiscs have since been moved over to data duty.too bad though, since they have a no ring printable face and all.

bestbuy:Verbatim 25-Pack 16x DVD+/-R $9.99 (no rebates) - online or B&M
5/22/2005 11:44:37 PM
i've burnt 30 of my promedia dvd-rs (120 for $38) and they are all perfect... so i still haven't had a bad dvd buying the "bargain brands"
5/23/2005 2:09:33 PM
im a little worried about those maxells i bought on special -- the very outside top of the discs doesn't look so hot... looks as if it might deteriorate in a yr -ZiP!-
5/23/2005 9:28:27 PM
^ Maxell makes some good stuff if the media code sys Maxell (from what I've read and my own experience). In any case you shouldn't have to worry about the condition of the top layer. Unlike CD's where the data is right below the top layer and prone to scratches, DVD's have the data layer sandwiched evenly between the plastic so it's safely kept from scratches. So I wouldn't worry about the top layer fading.
5/23/2005 11:15:31 PM
I got some of those Maxells and didn't have that problem. FYI, they produced good results at 12X even though I don't normally burn at that speed.
5/24/2005 12:26:00 AM
bttt...any good deals on CD-Rs?
6/6/2005 4:28:25 PM

That one expired already .What place online always has good prices on good media, I don't necessarily have to have it for free. And, the 8x NEC DVD burners, can they be flashed to 16x?
7/6/2005 9:57:28 AM
Verbatims are my brand of choice. I have used many different ones, but those tend to write the best, so when I do movies and things like that, that I want to keep, I use Verbatims. Sams usually has sells of Verbatims every now and then. Sams card = best thing ever!
7/6/2005 10:14:12 AM
