Wolf no biggie on the site goin down during my presentation, it was during the last main feature i was showing. They said it wont affect their decison. Better this happend now than when they start paying for the service.I know you mentioned it above, but can you please host some sort of support on a box other than the box that serves our sites? When/if this happens can you please let us know how we can best contact you if something liek this happens again.thx

^ i don't know what that means, but i'm up.on a related note, has anyone been able to get in touch with Hassell the past couple days? I need the domain registration pushed over to Progress on 2 accounts, and he hasn't responded yet to 2 support requests and an IM.

Yeah, i hate your damn dns servers. Just keep checking it like i showed you, If there is ever a doubt, check with a real DNS server, like http://www.dnsstuff.com/Use the dns lookup in the upper right and do an A record search on http://www.yourdomain.comItll show an address in the 207.44.160.xx range if the DNS servers are set up correctly to point to my server.

go figure, and guess what, http://www.progress-systems.com is down tooi swear it shouldn't be too hard to understand, as a web host your company domain shouldn't be on the same server as your clients, hence if the server goes down, so does your support....why is this so difficult to do???[Edited on February 12, 2005 at 4:54 PM. Just wanted to let you guys know that i am here. Ive been working on this pretty much all day.The servers are fine and alive, but we dont have internet access to an entire rack.I had set up forums on a different box, but that box is in the same rack on our file backup server. Im now looking to purchase hosting somewhere else for this sole purpose.Ill update you guys more, but until the data center figures out what theyve broken, Im sitting here with nothing to do but yell at them.Ill post more as i know more. As far as i can tell, the main router for the rack just died around 10:30 this morning.
2/12/2005 5:17:32 PM
I dont want to say that we are totally back up, but i think the server most of the sites are on is up. They may yet have to bring the rack down for short bursts to mess with the network, and they may not depending on how i feel about this router. It came up shortly for a minute or two, then went down again, now they say they have it up and stable, but i need to be convinced.Sorry for the downtime, if you want to talk about it privately, PM me and we can talk. Also, i would like to get some feedback from you regarding a new site layout. It will be rolled out with the forums and some other nice features. Its still a work in progress and the links have been disabled on purpose.http://www.progress-systems.com/newsite/

2/12/2005 11:41:10 PM
atleast when enable goes down it is due to a data center fuck up, not server mismanagement crap like it was with enable.
2/12/2005 11:54:02 PM
^I think you said that wrong?
2/13/2005 12:01:13 AM

Cool, i have bought space at an offsite host for forums, not even in the same datacenter as me. Ill be rolling all of this out next weekend. Thanks for the comments on the site, just shows what you get when someone with some talent works on it.

2/24/2005 12:31:40 PM
Yeah, ive verified it is now working for everyone. Not sure what was down really, i am still waiting on traceroute from someone who could access it all along.I did however use the opportunity to get the power strip swapped out for a smart one.
2/24/2005 12:36:28 PM
In case you didnt know, we are experiencing the same problem as yesterday.Im on it, maybe itll be down enough for me to find out whats going on for real.
2/25/2005 1:54:21 PM

2/25/2005 1:55:58 PM

not working for me during that same time yesterday and same for now as well^ not really[Edited on February 25, 2005 at 1:58 PM. Reason : a]
Naw, this is nothing like enable. Unfortunately, today was out of my control. I didnt have much option here.On the good news front, ive been waiting for this hardware, it also gives me remote KVM even during bios operation. Not that it matters to you guys, but it gives me a little more control over whats going on with the servers.Ill be sitting here till the server is online and verified working.[Edited on February 25, 2005 at 2:03 PM. 2/25/2005 2:00:19 PM

2/25/2005 3:12:58 PM
^your smtp server typically should go through your ISPthis is not a server issue, it's a networking issue
2/25/2005 3:21:08 PM
STMP is fine. This is my info@jerimiahscc.com acount on progress, I am looking to see if any of the INCOMING REPLIES were LOST due to the server being wierd

2/25/2005 3:34:42 PM
Yeah, that took about 6 times longer than the quoted 20 minutes in the notice they had up for me. I apologize to everyone effected. Ill be asking for some type of reimbursement, and if i get it, I will pass it on to you as well. This should have been done in the middle of the night, not middle of the day.
