Is there going to be a NCSU guild? If so, can someone PM me some info about it. I've been playing FFXI the past year, and I'm sick of all the time I have to dedicate to that game, so I'm debating switching to WoW. Me and my clan mates from UT/WC3 are gonna make alliance toons on the PvE server and maybe horde on the PvP... in my experience PvP servers usually fucking suck and have less good PvP action than the PvE in the long run.

I'm gonna start on the PvP server but i will probably won't PvP if they don't add something meaningful to PvP .... Something like the Realm point system in DaoC.. killing just for the kills seems pointless in an RPG.. let me loot their corpse or something

PVP is still very sketch until they put in the battlegrounds (instanced pvp areas of some sort).

If nothing else, you can build a reputation through PVPing. Eventually people will come to fear your guild tag, or even your name.

Yeah but I'll never be good enough to be feared.... I wish i was.. One of the top PvPers in DAoC was on my server... everyone on the server knew when they were out down to the lowbies.. Always wished i could get that good


Ok i just reread an article about the battlegrounds from back in the day.. forgot all about that sorta stuff if they implement the reward systems they are talking about in there and the battlegrounds I'll definetly play some PvP alot

I've been playing with several blizzard employees and they seem to be real hype on battlegrounds. They can't give out any specifics though. I'm going to play pvp for no reason other than that I think they'll be putting a lot of effort into making it a lot of fun.

I hope so i have some faith in blizzard I just did a raid or two in Beta (one where the NPCs disappeared was fun) and it was just mindless killing which is fun but I like rewards.... my kills didn't even show up in the character screen... Battlegrounds and the gaining of status in the land sounds promising especially if it unlocks new items/skills or something like that

I'm definitely going to pick up a copy and start playing come the first week of December. I can't afford to get it tomorrow cause I'll fail my classes.

When you all start up, please post which servers you're on and I'll be all over it. During one of the betas I played as most of the races/classes, and I think that my overall favorite was a Tauren Warrior. Hope you all are going Horde.

Ragnoros a lvl something rediculous fire elemental. In the lore he was a servant of one of the old gods. He was accidentally called to Azeroth and burned the fuck out of a large area of land (Burning Steppes).

He is a very high lvl raid boss.

How does combat work? What makes it different from combat in other MMORPGs?

In general, combat in World of Warcraft is faster paced than it is in other MMORPGs, without being a "clickfest." When a character attacks a creature, he or she enters into combat mode. In combat mode, the character automatically and repeatedly attacks the target creature, but the player is responsible for timing the use of spells and special abilities to be maximally effective. Warriors and other melee classes will have a host of combat abilities that they can employ while fighting, whereas magic users will be able to cast a plethora of spells.

Ragnaros is the end boss one of the raid portions of Blackrock Mountain. He was put into beta pretty late and despite our best efforts we didn't come close to actually seeing him. It wasn't until the last night of beta when the GM's were messing around that anyone actually saw him.
