tim burton does not make good movies, and from those pics it looks like he plans on continuing to make bad movies. the only tim burton movies i liked were batman and mars attacks. of course i might have only like those because i saw them back when they came out and i was in middle school and kindergarten, and i was much more forgiving back then.

^^^you're just blinded by bitterness and anger. about what, i dont know. lets at least wait to see the pic in context. any outfit like that is going to look fruity in front of a white background.

well we all know what the sets on burton movies can do to the mood of the audience.

look at the vibrance of big fish.

i for one am a huge fan of this part of burtons work.

untill i see a set of the factory, then im not concerned about the apparent sillyness of the costume.

I don't like that the oompa loompas will be singing, but I love that elfman will be

WW is one of my favorite movies EVER, but it'd be cool if someone did a version where everything is creepy, like inside the tunnel in the first one. I'm curious if they'll be using Marilyn Manson's Willy Wonka cover, or the 'Pure Imagination' thing that Maroon 5 just did.

i still have a lot of faith in this project. you can't judge a tim burton by a picture of the character by himself with a white background.

plus, come on, tim burton + johnny depp = gold

If God loves me, they'll use neither and the two covers will never be heard by human ears again.

If they are going to use exisiting songs and use a band's cover of those existing songs, I recommend they use The Smoking Popes' version of Pure Imagination.

But I'd rather they just not go to the old movie for anything and do this one differently. If you try to do the first movie again, you'll just get locked into "Wilder is so much better than Depp it hurts."

For sure Roald Dahl, the author of the book, had nothing to do with this movie. I ran across this on IMDB.

Quote :
"Roald Dahl was reportedly so angry with the treatment of his book (mainly stemming from the massive rewrite by David Seltzer) that he refused permission for the book's sequel, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, to be filmed. Seltzer had an idea for a new sequel, but legal issues meant that it never got off the ground."

When you say this movie, are you talking about WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY or CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY? Cause seeing as how Dahl died about 15 years ago, he definitely didn't have anything to do with the remake.

Oops well I guess he really didn't have anything to do with it.

Haha. Anyway yea he didn't want anything to do with the original back in 1971.

im still keepin faith on this one...tim burton, danny elfman, and johnny depp all together should be good. i love tim burton, and danny elfman never ceases to amaze me with his work. and Depp generally has a good choice in movies he works with. and to anyone who said they didnt like tim burton

BeetleJuice
Nightmare Before Christmas
Big Fish
Edward Scissorshands

those 4 movies right there are so unique and different than most movies even if you dont like him its hard not to appreciate his work

I love Burton, but I am a little scared. Planet of the Apes was utter shit, and Big Fish was mostly shit.

...and BTW, everyone knew that Wilder was teh awesome when The Producers came out in '68.

"its a remake in the sense that its being done the way the book portrayed the story. not that the original wasnt good, it just didnt really match the tone of the book."

Everyone is saying this movie will be 'different,' but how?

I read the book as a kid, but I don't remember very much of it now. I do remember that the old movie had major changes. I don't remember what Willy Wonka was like in the book.

I guess it's too early for speculation tho

I remember all kinds of ridiculous details, like that Veruca Salt was offed by squirrels and not an egg machine. Mr. Slugworth was not in the book, (he was mentioned but never appeared) and neither was the part where Charlie and Granpa Joe steal the fizzy lifting drinks

ha ha, I guess I remember more than I thought

was the book supposed to be creepy or something? I never noticed

Cause it was an uplifting movie that didn't try to be edgy, so it's obviously not cool to like it. FIGHT CLUB rules, dude.

I didn't like Big Fish because it felt disjointed. It's like half the movie was directed by Burton and spliced up, and the filler segments were filmed by a Burton impersonator. The funeral scene was a nice tie-up, though, and I liked the sequences with the hidden (shoes-on-a-wire) town.

if you read the book, you'll see that it really is much much better thanks to burton's special touch...

i mean, big fish is probably my favorite film of 2003 (the only movie that would beat it is pirates and thats for totally diff reasons)
