11/11/2004 1:28:02 PM
tim burton does not make good movies, and from those pics it looks like he plans on continuing to make bad movies. the only tim burton movies i liked were batman and mars attacks. of course i might have only like those because i saw them back when they came out and i was in middle school and kindergarten, and i was much more forgiving back then.
11/11/2004 1:30:46 PM
then you have shit taste for moviesno offense
11/11/2004 1:33:11 PM
^^^you're just blinded by bitterness and anger. about what, i dont know. lets at least wait to see the pic in context. any outfit like that is going to look fruity in front of a white background.[Edited on November 11, 2004 at 1:43 PM. Reason : .]

well we all know what the sets on burton movies can do to the mood of the audience.look at the vibrance of big fish.i for one am a huge fan of this part of burtons work.untill i see a set of the factory, then im not concerned about the apparent sillyness of the costume.
11/11/2004 1:46:46 PM
11/11/2004 1:51:12 PM
th eproblem i have with the costume is the hat is too shinyi like everything elseexcept for johnny's make-up, its too smooth and fair/pale...too statuesque/feminine
11/11/2004 1:55:59 PM
i still have a lot of faith in this project. you can't judge a tim burton by a picture of the character by himself with a white background.plus, come on, tim burton + johnny depp = gold
11/11/2004 1:56:56 PM
11/11/2004 2:12:34 PM
For sure Roald Dahl, the author of the book, had nothing to do with this movie. I ran across this on IMDB.
11/11/2004 2:21:40 PM
11/11/2004 2:38:47 PM
Oops well I guess he really didn't have anything to do with it. Haha. Anyway yea he didn't want anything to do with the original back in 1971.

gene wilder is god.johnny depp is not god.
11/11/2004 6:54:17 PM
fruity. i hope these are just lame poses.
11/11/2004 7:02:10 PM
does it look like they're anything more than poses? cuz i don't even see a background.wtg, genius. [Edited on November 11, 2004 at 7:07 PM. Reason : ]

Johnny Depp does have a history of picking good scripts... i mean... there is hope. And they are just promotional poses.and comeon.. tim burton... johnny depp.... these arent flakey movie people... they are witty artsy crazy dudes, im sure it wont be bad.
11/11/2004 8:10:53 PM
bttt
11/12/2004 10:12:44 AM
should have been a cohen bro's production...
11/12/2004 10:24:13 AM
im still keepin faith on this one...tim burton, danny elfman, and johnny depp all together should be good. i love tim burton, and danny elfman never ceases to amaze me with his work. and Depp generally has a good choice in movies he works with. and to anyone who said they didnt like tim burton BeetleJuiceNightmare Before ChristmasBig FishEdward Scissorshandsthose 4 movies right there are so unique and different than most movies even if you dont like him its hard not to appreciate his work
11/12/2004 10:28:32 AM
everyone is going to hate on these pictures and granted they look kinda tacky, but when the movie opens you will be like omfg the golden ticket!!!!!
11/12/2004 10:35:24 AM
bigman, i'm with ya, it does look pretty bad from those pictures -ZiP!-
11/12/2004 1:12:04 PM
They should make all the tickets to the movie look like the golden ticket.
11/12/2004 1:40:05 PM
I love Burton, but I am a little scared. Planet of the Apes was utter shit, and Big Fish was mostly shit....and BTW, everyone knew that Wilder was teh awesome when The Producers came out in '68.[Edited on November 12, 2004 at 2:39 PM. Reason : d]

11/12/2004 3:11:56 PM
I remember all kinds of ridiculous details, like that Veruca Salt was offed by squirrels and not an egg machine. Mr. Slugworth was not in the book, (he was mentioned but never appeared) and neither was the part where Charlie and Granpa Joe steal the fizzy lifting drinksha ha, I guess I remember more than I thought was the book supposed to be creepy or something? I never noticed
11/12/2004 3:42:38 PM
^ I know, I was wondering the same thing. Don't seem to remember the tone being that different from the one portrayed in the original. Then again, it was forever ago
11/12/2004 5:51:30 PM
um i loved Big Fish and im picky with my movies
11/12/2004 6:20:50 PM
yeah i thought Big Fish was awesome...what's with everyone not liking it ?
11/12/2004 8:10:16 PM
i read ALL Dahl books I could get my hands on
11/12/2004 8:11:47 PM
why all the hating on big fish??? that was a good fucking movie.
11/13/2004 7:55:54 PM
11/13/2004 10:43:56 PM
I didn't like Big Fish because it felt disjointed. It's like half the movie was directed by Burton and spliced up, and the filler segments were filmed by a Burton impersonator. The funeral scene was a nice tie-up, though, and I liked the sequences with the hidden (shoes-on-a-wire) town.
11/14/2004 12:38:03 AM
if you read the book, you'll see that it really is much much better thanks to burton's special touch...i mean, big fish is probably my favorite film of 2003 (the only movie that would beat it is pirates and thats for totally diff reasons)
11/14/2004 1:18:50 AM
I don't give a damn what's in the book, the movie still feels disjointed.
11/14/2004 1:59:34 AM
OK..I thought those pictures were photoshops or jokes at first...then I realized they were real. WTF.

ha.... I was just searching for this thread to post that. I'm still a little iffy on the less than masculine Willy Wonka, but other than that I like it.
