basically Pedro is just a nutjob...and thats why I love him and he fits in perfectly on the 'team of Idiots'
10/12/2004 4:20:23 PM
i dont like the yankees at all but even more than that i hate the overwhelming size of the red sox bandwagonso im taking a stand and pulling for the yankees, although it will be hard
10/12/2004 4:26:31 PM
^ yea i hate the bandwagoners toobut they arent going to stop the true fans from rooting just as hard...I bet half of these sox bandwagoners have never even heard of Bill Lee, Yaz, or Jim Rice (just to name a few)[Edited on October 12, 2004 at 4:30 PM. Reason : sadf]
10/12/2004 4:29:46 PM
i always assumed your screen name implied you were a mets fan
10/12/2004 4:37:32 PM
I've been both my whole life...Sox in the AL, Mets in the NL...i lived in New England (Sox territory) but close to NYC (Mets/Yanks territory obviously)I would goto like 10-15 games from each team every summer86 was tough to pick a team (even though I was 5) cuz my Mom was a Sox fan and Dad a Mets fan...I just kinda latched onto both
10/12/2004 4:40:14 PM
I don't claim to be a Red Sox fan, and I really don't like baseball, but, I have 2 thoughts:1. I'm tired of the Yankees winning2. I want to see the Cubs and Red Sox win.
10/12/2004 4:49:16 PM
GO SOXI am an ABY fan
10/12/2004 5:01:17 PM
Yeah I'm tired of the Yankees winning three years ago too.
10/12/2004 5:29:25 PM
The last time I rooted for the Yankees was when Pat and Roberto Kelly were on the team.I don't even think Bernie Williams was a rookie at that point, either.
10/12/2004 5:32:17 PM
Damn I remember those days...they traded Roberto Kelly to Cincy to get Paul O'Neill. I like how that one worked out.
10/12/2004 7:29:50 PM
Danny Tartabull
10/12/2004 7:30:29 PM
Oh and Mel Hall...what a vaunted clean-up hitter he was. Jesse Barfield too.
10/12/2004 7:32:24 PM
Pagliarulo
10/12/2004 7:32:58 PM
man i remember going to Mets and Yanks games back in high school we would sit on the train and just name a team like 91 Yanks and go thru every single person on teh roster back and forth...good times
10/12/2004 7:34:11 PM
this opening is.......interesting
10/12/2004 8:02:33 PM
FOX YOU ARE SO FUCKING GAY YOU PIECES OF SHIT...THAT WAS THE WORST SHIT I HAVE EVER SEEN[Edited on October 12, 2004 at 8:03 PM. Reason : JIO]

10/12/2004 8:03:56 PM
i hate star wars...i swear, i can't believe they combined my favorite sport with the worst movies ever....i'm just dissappointed in that opening
10/12/2004 8:04:35 PM
bwwwwwwwaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaFlash Gordon got hit in the eye w/ a cork celebrating
10/12/2004 8:05:05 PM
In my case, they took two of my two favorite things, and left a stain on both
10/12/2004 8:05:29 PM
the sooner i can forget about it, the better...btw, go sox....
10/12/2004 8:06:50 PM
And yet, somehow, it keeps getting gayer and gayer
10/12/2004 8:11:44 PM

10/12/2004 8:13:53 PM
predictionfight or no fight?
10/12/2004 8:32:38 PM
and so it begins
10/12/2004 8:37:51 PM
anyone despise the idiotic announcers epsecially Tim McCarver, he acts like he had a hall of fam career, what a pansy
10/12/2004 8:42:46 PM
I like Buck/McCarver better than the guys that did the game last night.
10/12/2004 8:44:55 PM
most anyone in sports will tell you that joe buck is probobly one of (if not the) best play-by-play guys in all of sports, much like his dad was.
10/12/2004 8:47:47 PM
I liked the Yanks to win this series going in, but if they beat Schilling in Game one they become a pretty heavy favorite in my estimation....Pedro hasn't done well against the Yankees so they could def be going back to Boston down 2-0.They have to get to Mussina tonite, but look at Ortiz's stats against him... like 1-17? ouch
10/12/2004 8:49:44 PM
well does anyone think they sound a little Pro Yankee, i mean can we talk about Derrick Jeter just one more time, I mean dont get me wrong he is a good player, all star worthy but not a freaking superstar, they talk this guy up way too much, i mean look at his stats http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?statsId=5406&context=battingthey are decent but not eyepopping, he hit .292, OBP of .385(not too impressive) and he doesnt knock in lots of runs nor hit many homersi hope someone else can see this
10/12/2004 8:51:12 PM
Jeter is the leader of that team, thats y they talk him up, just like Varitek isn't an All Star, but he's a great leader
10/12/2004 8:54:14 PM
Stats aren't everything.Jeter is the heart and soul of the team. And its not unreasonable to think they wouldn't do nearly as well without him. There's a reason he's only the second Yankee captain since Thurman Munson died.
10/12/2004 8:54:47 PM
Yeah. It's cause he boned Mariah Carey and lived to tell the tale.
10/12/2004 8:55:37 PM
heart and soul is a bunch of crap in my book in baseball, thats quanitative, hall of famers are voted on stats last time i looked, jeter is just overrated, good but overrated, baseball is more of an individual sport
10/12/2004 8:56:51 PM
oh and i meant McCarver is the one i detest, Buck isnt bad but i definitely dont like him, voice is annoying, and Varitek isnt nearly talked up as much as Jeter
10/12/2004 8:57:53 PM
^^ Fine, argue with the fact that he's scored 27 runs in 32 World Series games and is hitting .304 against some of the top pitchers in baseball. You don't exactly go up against Todd Ritchie or Casey Fossum in the World Series
10/12/2004 9:00:17 PM
Yeah ok...heart and soul don't mean crap...right.Take Jeter out and see how far the Yanks get. Probably not very, and it's been the same story for the last 8 years.
10/12/2004 9:00:34 PM
you're absolutely mad if you think jeter is overrated/isnt worth talking about. he is as clutch as it gets and the yankees wouldnt be where there and have been since '96 without him
10/12/2004 9:01:52 PM
Jeter is the one guy that w/o the Yankees wouldn't be the same IMO (p.s. - he is a shoe-in for the HOF and Munson was a cocksucker)and Red Sox..come on I know you have faced a Major League pitcher before[Edited on October 12, 2004 at 9:03 PM. Reason : done]
10/12/2004 9:02:16 PM
since when is Moose turned into freaking Randy Johnson
10/12/2004 9:03:19 PM
right on cue jeter
10/12/2004 9:03:33 PM
NCSUStud83 sure has been making some bad points on this thread....
10/12/2004 9:04:29 PM
Jeter isn't an incredible player or anything, he's just been so consistently good in the playoffs since 1996 that you have to recognize his achievements...As far as the regular season goes he's a very good shortstop... not better than A-Rod was obviously...
10/12/2004 9:06:51 PM
LET'S GO YANKEES
10/12/2004 9:07:37 PM
10/12/2004 9:08:11 PM
well since he's a third baseman now I used was...
10/12/2004 9:08:42 PM
Alright Schilling looks spent already
10/12/2004 9:09:18 PM
[cursed]
