i just noticed that there was a limit. WTF.

they should change the flood control to display "try again in a couple of hours" instead of "minutes".

from a webmasters stance, there are other alternatives to restricting bandwidth.

1.) limit the user photogallery more. Premie users can link their photos to outside sources, such as ebay and what not. Regular users can't.

2.) up the non ncsu.edu mail address registeration fee

3.) get more advertisements = more revenue

4.) purge older files and threads

Threads, are just "text" they don't consume -that- much bandwidth. Perhaps 1 thread per section is more reasonable. I often like to post one topic in chit chat, one in tech talk about what I might plan to buy for my CPU, and in the garage about my latest car investment. Just to do that, i would have to spend 3 hours.

I've been a believer in this idea for a while.

this is bad bad bad, the same topics from 10am are still up and it 4:30.

The topics need to be refreshed much quicker than that.

I like it. Shit chat seems much "cleaner".

Although now you need to investigate the users with 3 or 4 aliases, because they can get around this.

Which is another dilemma since some of the premies are the reason this rule was brought about. This should be interesting . . .

Dilemma or no dilemma, atleast us premies are trying our best to keep this site running, unlike some freeloaders.

If they can ban Kris from making his own threads, then they can do the same with the "chosen few" that deserve it. I figure it's better to just ban people individually than to make everybody suffer.

i'd like to see some bandwidth #'s after this month is over. If they're going to do this, at least show us proof its working. Im sure TWW pushes 200+ gb's a month, but im curious to see if it actually helps. there are so many other process that factor into bandwidth that i wouldn't be suprised to see maybe a 5%-10% decrease in bandwidth at most.

I second the 1 thread/hour/section idea ... although I rarely post more than 1/hour, sometimes I have two things of interest and I don't have an hour to hang around

the policy actually has nothing to do with bandwidth. I would hope that the bandwidth numbers would go up as a result of more interest in the site.

1 per hour is extreme.

It should be more like 1 per ten minutes.

I see the logic for chit chat, but when I actually use the lounge or tech talk and I can't post a thread in another forum for an hour. Is there a way to make it one thread per forum, three per hour or something like that?
