oh yeah kruznby you are going down i am collecting computers to take you out of spot one
8/12/2003 11:14:29 PM
Some of you maybe missing your stats fix. Statsman is down for the time being with domain renewal issues. Here is another site that has some interesting team stats:http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/Here are our team stats:http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_overview.php?TeamID=59Congrats to our newest member WorldofJay!SilverSurfer-> Are you singing it or bringing it? So far you only have 3 active processors in a week. Besides, once Noen gets up to full strength, I think we will both see a flyby. Anyway. good luck and Fold On!
8/13/2003 8:56:05 AM
I'm up to 6 processors now

i will have more then 10 by next week possibly 15
8/13/2003 10:03:59 PM
Wtf? How did I get 2 stats entries?http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/userpage?name=Trebinorhttp://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/userpage?name=trebinorBtw, this Linux client is big suckin'. It needs more attention.
8/14/2003 12:00:47 AM
Nice ramp SilverSurfer! Make sure you have permission if they are not your boxes. That's odd Trebinor. At least all of the points are going to trebinor. Yeah, I have heard the Linux client is poor. I think one of the major reasons is that it uses the old TINKER core which is much slower than the newer GROMACS core. Here is a discussion about Linux and TINKERs:http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?s=01291b1646aafc3a2b86f5da17f70616&threadid=644913

I just got 10 old PC's from work, rescued out of the 30 we threw out but cold get a celeron 700, pIII 500, pIII 600, PIII450, and PIII 450 running, but would uit be worth it? wouldnt one p4 2.5+ be faster than all these combined?
8/14/2003 9:04:00 PM
Everything helps. There are a few older machines on the team. I know Loopdomain = PIII450, and Matrix Reloaded = PIII650 and they seem to be doining well. I wouldn't bother with machines slower than a PII300 as they may have trouble making the WU deadline. I currently have a PII400 and a PII350 folding a way at work. I guess it depends if you want to pay for the electricity to keep them running? That's why mine are at work. Those are some decent machines still. The best solution would be to sell them to in-coming students and use the money to put together some cheap boxen with T-bred 1700's OC'd ect.
8/14/2003 9:29:35 PM
where can i go to see how many points other teams have and how close we are too them and stuff?
8/14/2003 11:06:37 PM
I've added some tips on how to increase your WU production on my web site.Link to 3.25b http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/beta/beta.htmlLink to FireDaemon http://www.firedaemon.com/
8/16/2003 12:12:55 PM
*Note I renamed the original beta file (FAH3.25-Console-beta.exe) to FAH3Console.exe to be compatible with the 3rd party EMIII software

We have a new member: JackTheLionWe are currently in 157th place. Fold On!
9/5/2003 8:30:29 AM
We are? I just checked http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/teampage?q=59 and it says we're 160th.
9/5/2003 9:17:28 AM
157 was based on Statsman. There is a bit of differnce based on statsman drops teams that have not produced a WU in x amount of time. Unfortunatly Statsman still has not renewed his domain name, so I edited my HOSTS file so I could view it and upload screen shots. There is no screen shot today since I think Hassell is having some problems. I can't upload anything.
9/5/2003 10:27:52 AM
Nice, I'll put 3.25 in right now. Running it on an OC'd Ahtlon XP 2500+
9/5/2003 10:38:13 AM
^Great, that should help you. Just keep your eye on the temps since you are already overclocked, it may run a few degrees warmer.
9/5/2003 9:54:55 PM
Hey who is chemp? It never seems to report any work units for him but he's flying up the charts.
9/6/2003 7:45:33 PM
chemp=scanZeroI never noticed that before. He has 224.90 for the past week acording to statsman. Stanford must have a glitch in there pages I guess. We also have a new member Xare!
9/6/2003 10:52:27 PM
Welcome to all the new members. Here's to another one: aielmanNCSU!
9/7/2003 8:17:52 PM
nod...i'm chemp. i assumed folding=seti where it wanted a email for an account. and i'm not sure why my stats are messed up. tho i just cron job it up and configure it minimally (being lazy and not putting the cpu number, etc). Those stats are from 2.4C@3.0ghz,2.0ghz,2.0ghz. First is gaming rig and last two are at work.
9/8/2003 12:14:31 PM
I have 4 machines running F@H as a service (thanks to FireDaemon), but the stats page at Stanford only has me at 2 active processors... Am I doing something wrong?
9/10/2003 1:32:00 PM
With 4 machines, you should be putting out more than 80pts/week. What are the approximate speeds of the machines? The slowest I run is a PII350. Did you copy the config file from an initial install of F@H? You have to run the setup (config) on each machine, because the program has to create a unique Machine ID#. Is it possible that F@H is being shut down by the user? If you use the -service flag F@H will run when users are logged off.Let me know how it goes.
9/10/2003 3:35:36 PM
That's what it is... I just copied the .cfg file. I thought that is what I was suppose to do. How do I setup (run the config) when running console as a service?I've noticed that the -service flag runs while a user is logged on as well. I am hoping you mean it runs when users are logged off as well as logged on.thanks for all the help.
9/10/2003 5:28:51 PM
Can I just go into the .cfg file and make machine ID=2, 3, etc? on the various machines?Going to try this. Maybe this will work.
9/10/2003 5:39:05 PM
Sorry I was wrong. It's called user ID. Machine ID is for dual processors. The user ID is generated automatically. Here is what the log file looks like on one of my machines:
9/10/2003 6:00:44 PM
Ah.. Ok.. thanks. Will get on this tomorrow.
9/10/2003 6:33:35 PM
Ok. So I went around and checked all the machines that I had it on. I stopped the service, deleted the .cfg file and ran fah3.25-console -config. It however gave me the same User-ID that was already assigned. The User-ID on every machine is different though.I may look into it more tomorrow.
9/10/2003 7:27:16 PM
Looks like you are good to go then. What are the speeds of these machines?
9/10/2003 7:37:13 PM
Sign me up with my measily 1 GHZ Athlon.
9/10/2003 8:45:08 PM
kruznby you are going down
9/10/2003 8:51:36 PM
^^ Everything helps Pi Master. Everyone better watch out! We have a new member SmackerKracker that's cranked out 130 pts in less than 2 days. Good work.As a team we hit a milestone of 100,000 pts a day or two ago. It only took us 2 years to get there. At our current pace it will only take us 80 days to complete the next 100,000. We are currently in 152 place and moving up. Fold On!
9/10/2003 11:56:48 PM
Haha... i'm smackerkracker... i've got my 3.0ghz and my 1.2ghz laptop with my roommates laptop running it too. I'll get my machines at home eventually. I used to be on silversurfer's team... but now i just want to beat his score.
9/11/2003 12:02:09 AM
^fyi, leet post
9/11/2003 12:06:01 AM
I know, i captured it too and saved it BTW, i've got the beta 3.25 version running, i just installed it, and i tweeked my console... Two instances baby... silversurfer is going down...
9/11/2003 2:06:40 AM
I have 3 machines running about 1.2 mhz, and about 4 others at ~450-500mhz.Not much, but hey, better than nothing.
9/11/2003 3:07:25 PM
Great work. I was just curious on the speed, since some of the slower machines will take longer than a week, so will not consistently show up on # proccessors/week for obvious reasons, but they should finish in plenty of time to get credit.
9/11/2003 4:08:52 PM
9/11/2003 4:37:03 PM
You've done 226 out of 400 frames of 1 Work Unit. Each work unit is worth a different number of points based on how long it takes to calculate on a benchmark machine Stanford uses. I like to use a program called EMIII to monitor my console client. After you submit your Work Unit with in a day or two, you should be able to check your points. There's more info on my website.http://www.genejockeys.net
9/11/2003 5:10:49 PM
Ok... So I have set these other machines up, but when I goto my stats page now it says only 1 active processor!? Strange..... http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/userpage?q=stonerman
9/11/2003 5:26:17 PM
Is this maybe only updated when a WU is completed? If so I guess my number will rise the first part of next week... or maybe tomorrow.
9/11/2003 5:27:56 PM
^Bingo. That's why if you have machines that take longer than a week to complete a WU, then they will drop off of the active processors list until they submit another WU.
9/11/2003 5:46:46 PM
I borged another 23 machines tonight . Maybe it will help me climb to the ranks of KRUZNBY a little faster.
9/16/2003 7:18:42 PM
Make that 25
9/16/2003 8:45:47 PM
Did you take over a lab or something?
9/16/2003 9:13:36 PM
Sweet Mother of God Stonerman gg!! You should have permission though or there can be hell to pay. We also have 2 new members: Poe and Pi_Master. Welcome to the team. The third party stats posted by statsman had his domain sniped, so statsman.org no longer works. There is a temporary solution for now to get your stats fix:http://statsman.ww-testsites.co.uk/folding2stats/59.html
9/16/2003 11:10:56 PM
Work. Had to upgrade office software and just decided to jump at the opportunity.PLENTY of unused cpu cycles around this place....
9/17/2003 12:26:57 AM
i signed uptried both the electron microscope, and the gui clientdont seem to be making any progress...
