Hopefully the NCAA will add some penalties. Those amount to nothing. Probation is meaningless, vacating wins only affects the coach's record, not the team, and anyone with an IQ of 60 is elligible for an academic scholarship at UNC.Need some bowl bans up in here.
9/19/2011 2:51:15 PM
Weak self-imposed penalties. They'll get at least one year bowl ban on top of this.

I love how UNC mentions all their educational/informational sessions for the athletes to know what the rules are....and then in the interviews the athletes said that they didn't know what they were doing was wrong (academic related stuff anyways)IC fans are agreeing with their proposed penalties...which leads me to believe that the self-imposed penalties won't be enough.[Edited on September 19, 2011 at 3:44 PM. 9/19/2011 3:24:32 PM
They're agreeing with them because they aren't actually penalties. Really. There is absolutely zero negative effect on UNC from those penalties, with the laughable exception of the $50,000 fine. And as we know, $50,000 is obviously nothing to a big program.
9/19/2011 3:53:19 PM
ncaa needs to impose penalties that affect future seasons of football, not past seasons
9/19/2011 3:54:47 PM
^Agreed And ^^, the gave Blake 75k...50k is nothing, you're right
9/19/2011 3:58:10 PM
just updated butch's wiki page to account for vacated seasons.
9/19/2011 4:09:44 PM
so this
9/19/2011 4:18:06 PM
Oct 23 or 28 i think, cant remember
9/19/2011 4:20:22 PM
^Yeah, 28th I think. And punishment should be handed down early 2012, I believe.[Edited on September 19, 2011 at 4:21 PM. Reason : ]

Good analogy from a poster on Packpride:
9/19/2011 4:26:23 PM
South Carolina receives NCAA notice of allegations today
9/19/2011 5:14:12 PM
9/19/2011 6:01:58 PM
Haha, that is funny. No amount of punishment will satisfy anyone on here, I'm sure. What precedent is there recently for the NCAA to add significant extra punishment on top of the self-imposed suggestions?
9/19/2011 6:06:03 PM
So.... UNC claims they fired Blake? Then how are they justifying the fact that they're still paying him?
9/19/2011 6:09:39 PM
They're paying Butch and he was fired
9/19/2011 6:10:17 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5537708Blake resigned, he was never fired. He may have been talked into resigning, or possibly even pressured into it, but he was never fired.
9/19/2011 6:12:28 PM
Well, I think we all know he was firedNo conspiracy there
9/19/2011 6:14:39 PM
Actually, never-mind. I misread the response. They say they "talked him into resigning." (I wonder how the NCAA feels when assistants get paid off to disappear and leave NCAA jurisdiction) My bad./Carry On
9/19/2011 6:16:31 PM
^^The NCAA accepts penalties sometimes, sometimes they don't. LSU had a case in July and theirs were accepted, WVU had one and their was accepted.I don't think this is one of those times, though.
9/19/2011 6:21:54 PM
i'm just going to go ahead and assume that the ncaa accepts the offer. it's bound to happen.
9/19/2011 7:16:56 PM
Hope every page is returned next week to unc, smeared in shit.
9/19/2011 7:18:33 PM
they added extra penalties to Boise St. on top of what they proposed.
9/19/2011 7:23:02 PM
what else would you do to unc sensibly? The wins are vacated which doesn't seem that bad because they didn't win that much anyway. No need to punish the new people
9/19/2011 7:46:46 PM
At the very minimum a bowl ban of at least two years. THEY HAVE SET AN ENTIRELY NEW PRECEDENT FOR CHEATING. No one has ever had the associate head coach directly on an agents payroll. Academic violations abound and they are still hiding butch's 216 records.
9/19/2011 7:49:30 PM
Isn't this about the same level of punishment FSU got for their academic indiscretions a few years back? UNC has similar academic problems (although maybe not affecting as many players as FSU) + agent affiliated coach on the payroll + letting an (arguably) known agent/runner hang around the program.

lol @ them paying john blake $75k and offering to pay the NCAA $50k...
9/19/2011 8:54:28 PM
Optimal scenario: Death Penalty minus the TV ban
9/19/2011 9:04:24 PM
^lol death penalty kinda negates the need for a tv ban
9/19/2011 9:16:22 PM
vacating wins is the dumbest, fakest penalty possibleyour fans still enjoyed their victories, opponents still felt the lossesyou still went to some bowl that was better than you deserved, might have kept others from going to a bowl or a better bowlbut if you look in the records, it never happened! some penalty
9/19/2011 9:24:56 PM
Not to mention they get to keep the money from their bowl trips...
9/19/2011 9:28:07 PM
and yet they're 3-0. ain't that some shit? gotta give withers some respect.
9/19/2011 9:34:45 PM
^ they have only played one decent team (Rutgers)We have people defending UNC based on that cut up document (all the missing sentences) on FB and I need some firepower to throw back. I know for a fact they didn't read all 111 pages. Lets hear what you got fellow UNC haters.

I just want to see massive scholarship reductions for years to come. Those assholes are still reaping the benefits of enticing players illegally that are still there. And if you think otherwise you are joking yourself. All that fucking NFL talent and those insane recruiting classes and you still can't break 8 wins or make 1 single bowl that's worth a shit. Let alone get a victory over your rivals. Must be awesome over there thinking you are in the same class as Alabama and Ohio State and Texas. You get all that talent for years and it amounts to nothing major. You might as well be Oregon State. For the last 15 years you've been mediocre and can barely draw a full crowd to your stadium.
9/20/2011 9:54:26 AM
I'm not saying they're good, but you gotta give it to withers for getting the team together and going 3-0 after losing blake, then butch a couple weeks before the season began. that's all. i'm not expecting them to have an above average season.
9/20/2011 9:55:50 AM
Bullet with the "2011-2012 ADVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY" award ceremony
9/20/2011 10:13:40 AM
Just giving credit where credit is due. I was expecting them to come out and totally flop. I'm sure they will once they start playing higher competition.
9/20/2011 10:20:58 AM
Who has UNC played?James Madison (FCS Team) money game for JMURutgers (Bottom third of the Big Least this year) Barely beat themUVA in the Khaki Classic was a good win, though UVA is no world beaterIf you want to crown them then wait until their first road game, if they win that game then crown them. GT racked up 500+ rushing yards last week. They still have a lot of talent on that Defense and their WR are more experienced.
9/20/2011 11:29:10 AM
^yeah. I am really interested in the UNX v GT game. UNX should have the D to hold GTs O if they are as good as publicized.
