It would be great if HB 49 would apply to Universities.

It would be great if HB 49 allowed campus carry.

Kahr =/= money I saved
2/3/2013 4:48:57 PM
$500 for a Garand parts kit?Needs barrel and stock, looks like its been blasted and parkerized.I think I could end up around $850 finished rifle... Good deal?
2/3/2013 6:02:37 PM
definitely notservice grade from CMP for $650 or special with new barrel, stock, and refinished everything else for $1000i would go CMP route[Edited on February 3, 2013 at 6:31 PM. Reason : service grades nowadays are gauging very low and many are coming with new stocks]
2/3/2013 6:30:55 PM
2/3/2013 6:47:57 PM
850 is less than 1000.sounds like i would end up with essentially the same thing, except i get to build it myself, although admittedly im no CMP armorer.is that the difference then?
2/3/2013 9:38:23 PM
did you factor in any specialized tools? headspace gauges? is the barrel you're looking at on par with the Criterion CMP uses?CMP rifle comes with a nice case and you know exactly what you've got. if anything is wrong with it, you can bet your ass they'll make it right.for $150, the choice is clear to me.actually, i'd save a little and go service grade unless i planned on shooting matches. the service grade will increase in value faster than the special grade.[Edited on February 3, 2013 at 9:43 PM. 2/3/2013 9:42:41 PM
whys that? lack of restoration?
2/3/2013 9:46:50 PM
pretty much. they still have original barrels (not necessarily the barrel original to that receiver, but an old barrel), a lot of them have GI wood. you can put a sticky note on your order forms and request GI wood. sometimes it works.$625+shipping for a rifle guaranteed to meet the service grade criteria is the absolute best deal you're gonna find on a Garand short of a widow with no idea what she has. period. a casual shooter isn't going to know the difference between it and the $1k special grade. also, building a garand is nothing like slapping together an AR.[Edited on February 3, 2013 at 9:52 PM. 2/3/2013 9:51:07 PM
The last part is almost entirely the point.
2/3/2013 10:02:33 PM
it's your time and your money. spend it however you want. all i can do is tell you what i would do (actually, what i did).
2/3/2013 10:05:15 PM
I have a Garand thats too nice to shoot and one that looks like a dog chewed on it.Didnt build either and want something in the middle. I like a good project. But I want the best deal too though, so thanks for the info!
2/3/2013 10:27:35 PM
the service grade fills that hole perfectly
2/3/2013 10:44:15 PM
Where are their two stores again? I wonder if this recent gun-related tizzy has them running low on anything?
2/3/2013 11:08:35 PM
Anniston, Alabama and Camp Perry, OhioAL store is closer. they ship to your door (they still do NICS, but they have an exclusion under federal law for shipping) for $25. much cheaper to ship it, obviously.check out http://forums.thecmp.org/in the Garand forum there is a thread with folks' reports on how long it took to get their rifles. it'll be a couple months, probably.

Anybody interested in (or know anyone) a Ruger Super Blackhawk. New model. LNIB. asking $450
2/4/2013 6:57:49 AM
Y'all talked me into it. Just joined the GCA and filled out the paperwork for a Springfield Service Grade.
2/4/2013 8:21:21 AM
sweet
2/4/2013 8:26:50 AM
^way up there.I've had to many issues with FTFs on Kahrs to ever own one. Every one I've shot (2 different ones a buddy had that the same issue) and a few I've tried out at the range have done this. Talked to a few people that have had them and they complained about it to no end.
2/4/2013 10:26:29 AM
never had the first issue with mine
2/4/2013 10:27:56 AM
Same here, always heard great things from others who own them too.
2/4/2013 11:00:28 AM
IMHO FTF is spring tuning and feed ramp cleanliness (maybe a polish job)... not really hard to fix... FTE....... little more difficult.[Edited on February 4, 2013 at 11:38 AM. Reason : .]
2/4/2013 11:38:26 AM
ive had a K9 for a few years now, it's mainly my gf's shooter when we go plinking b/c its heavier than my glocks and she likes the way it feels...but ive put 7-900 rounds through it with not a single issue
2/4/2013 11:55:30 AM
just FYI, i put my CMP paperwork in the mail the week of Jan 7th and i received the email today saying that it had been received and verified. supposedly another 30-60 days for it to ship.
2/4/2013 4:51:39 PM
Magpul iPhone cover is sweet.
2/4/2013 5:55:55 PM
please correct me . Looking SAA clone... or close to it. I know the ruger is a better firearm than beretta as far as loads and lifetime. But I still like the finish and sound of beretta. And at the same time 800 dollars for a ruger ...... part of me would rather save up and get a colt 3rd gen . The only downside is then I wouldn't want to fire it ......... crossroads.
2/4/2013 6:45:38 PM
i refuse to own guns that i won't fire unless they're some sort of family heirloom
2/4/2013 9:26:29 PM
2/4/2013 9:49:48 PM
Part of me likes that but another part of me wants to cry after seeing that
2/4/2013 10:11:59 PM
Well, to be honest I would have to fire the colt if I got one. Not like I would want to sell it.
2/5/2013 6:46:16 AM
that's the exact opposite of what i would do to an m1 they modded everything BUT the barrel.
2/5/2013 8:13:51 AM
if you're gonna go full EBR, why not get an M1A?
2/5/2013 9:15:49 AM
I thought to get a rifle from CMP I had to sign up for SUM SHOOTIN CONTEST YERP.
2/5/2013 11:45:59 AM
no, the requirements aren't nearly as stringent as they were under the old Division of Civilian Marksmanship
2/5/2013 11:52:56 AM
That... that is a travesty. It's like ricing out a 69 Camaro.
2/5/2013 2:47:07 PM
That's exactly what it's like best analogy ever.
2/5/2013 3:27:46 PM
ordered an A2 stock/buffer kit and a LPK. stag sent me two packages. one had the 2 items i ordered. the other had an M4 stock/buffer kit and a LPK. only got charged for the items i ordered. wtf mate?[Edited on February 5, 2013 at 4:10 PM. Reason : in other words, i have some parts for sale]

2/5/2013 7:20:42 PM
i'll trade for a BCG. i can throw in cash to boot.
2/5/2013 7:41:16 PM
I wish, I am swapping my one BCG as is
2/5/2013 8:20:48 PM
do you need the parts kit or stock kit?
2/5/2013 8:22:12 PM
Holy hell. I just looked up .22lr ammo prices and they've just about doubled. It's insane. I'm thinkin bout unloading my stash, bank the profit, and buy some more when the market demand dies along with the premium prices.
2/5/2013 8:43:08 PM
^^ I probably shouldn't "need" either, just thinking about building my spare lower up but I really need to just leave it as is for now
2/5/2013 8:51:13 PM
^^You cant unload all of your stash, I have possession of one box of yours at the shop Mahahahahahahahhahhahahhhahahhahha, I foiled your plan.[Edited on February 5, 2013 at 8:51 PM. Reason : .]
2/5/2013 8:51:18 PM
How much is it running ? I have 3000 rnds
2/5/2013 8:54:14 PM
^^ HAHAH. GGWell, I've seen quite a few 500rnd bulk boxes being sold for $25-$50 each. I got 5250 rnds of CCI Blazer for $300 shipped about 6 months ago. Gunbroker has a single 525 CCI Blazer boxes for $50! ($20 increase!). There's a guy selling 1000 rnds of CCI mini mags for $240. I remember when you could buy 5000rnds for about $350-$400. Prices are stupid insane.
