egyeyes thanks for posting that video. i was wondering how to do that - i had read about how you could use your flat iron to curl your hair.

So do you guys with long hair have a spot at the nape of your neck that is always a terrible knot and so therefore is horribly damaged? What do you do for this ? Even my leave in conditioner doesn't work. Also I have fine hair and it gets so knotted after the shower no matter how much conditioner I have hence the leave in. Any tips for thus shit? I have a sensitive scalp and it sucks ripping hair out.
1/6/2011 2:48:29 PM
i get the nape of the neck tangle and the only thing i have found that works is pretty obvious... runs your fingers or a brush through that part of your hair throughout the day to make sure you get the tangles out earlysorry thats all i got
1/6/2011 2:50:15 PM
get your hair trimmed more frequently!a lot of times tangles and knots are because of damage/split ends. i have this problem, too. and they say get your hair cut every 4-8 weeks or whatever, so i try to do it on the shorter side of that (though it doesn't always happen).i also use a wide toothed comb in the shower to comb conditioner through my hair. it helps. if you heat style your hair, use a product to protect your hair specifically made for that. it helps with the damage and thus helps reduce tangles/knots. i use revlon smooth down heat glide.

if you do a low ponytail frequently you could be damaging your hair there. try making it higher on your head or making buns for a few weeks and see if it improves. otherwise try to protect it from rubbing on your shirt collar and jewelry

The "nape-knot" is a big part of why I want to chop my hair off. It's rough when you have a good 10-12 inches of hair stuck in a mess there, and nothing gets it out but wetting it and combing for 20 minutes. And if you have curly hair, you can't comb the knot out when it first gets started (unless you want uber-frizz). I've resorted to basically never wearing my hair down to avoid this . If anybody comes up with a solution, I'd love to know it too.

^Spin pins!!! I was just about to post about how they're my new love. I saw Nerdchick use them last week and went and bought some today. Even for my thin, not too long hair, they hold a twist, bun, etc nicely.
1/6/2011 3:37:27 PM
I think my hair is finally long enough to try Spin Pins
1/6/2011 3:45:46 PM
My hair is getting shaggy. Time to find a hair stylist again!
1/6/2011 3:48:49 PM
The first time I successfully used spin pins was on our snowboarding trip just before Christmas. Those things don't work too well on their own with my hair, but under a cap or helmet, they do well They do much less damage to my hair than any ponytail holder or clips would though.
1/6/2011 4:12:07 PM
when i ski or cycle i definitely french braid my hairit keeps it from tangling and its also handy because while wearing a helmet the low pony tail is the only other option
1/6/2011 4:33:52 PM
I wanted to french braid it into pigtails, but I've never been able to do so by myself
1/6/2011 6:50:27 PM
well i ordered the 3 layer boots!!!!EEEEEKbut i'm excited!! from a place in NC that is an authorized dealer per the minnetonka site. yayy!!! give me my boots, please!!!
1/6/2011 11:59:35 PM
I got spin pins post-christmas. They are pretty cool but I think I have too much hair for them. The ends always come undone and look too messy for my tastes.

Burning cash on shoes is against my nature. I might get some cheap semi-used ones on ebay. I can not wear vinyl, it has to be leather boots. but I don't want to pay $60+ for boots I'm just going to scuff up in the lab that are only slightly above my ankle. I also want some with a little heel, but no stiletto.
1/7/2011 1:30:59 AM
I know this is the ladies thread, which I am not, but I would not recommend wearing spin pins beneath a snowboarding helmet.
1/7/2011 8:41:09 AM
I need to try spin pins. I rarely wear low ponytails, always high or down. Might do the french braid thing. It's so damage it feels rough, like barbie doll hair after it's been through the wash lol. And my hair is naturally curly so that doesn't help. I almost want to cut that chunk out but I'm afraid it'll be noticeable lol

DITTO! can we have a tutorial from the people that are capable of french braiding their own hair please!!!perhaps there is a instructional video on youtube hahap.s. for some reason i just remembered the topsytail. remember those?!
1/7/2011 12:50:04 PM
it is the same as trying to braid someone else's o_O
1/7/2011 1:12:44 PM
nooo when you braid someone else's you are looking at it from the top of their head (usually) when you try to braid your own it is like, backwards or upside down or something. like whenever i've done it myself i end up with the inside out french braid. which i know just means i'm crossing it wrong but i don't know. french braiding my own hair is hard. lol.
1/7/2011 1:29:49 PM
I bought spin pins last nightI think I'm spin pin retarded
1/7/2011 1:35:51 PM
^ I've had em for a few months, and have yet to get them to look good on their own.
1/7/2011 1:40:42 PM
I need "Spin Pins for Dummies"
1/7/2011 1:42:13 PM
me too! They do have some youtube videos that demonstrate them, but I'm particularly slow when it comes to styling hair
1/7/2011 1:43:20 PM
I can get the spin pins to work but the ends stick out of the bun so I dont think it looks that good. I dont think of myself of having thin hair- but if i do the bun any less tight it doesnt hold up.
1/7/2011 3:13:40 PM
1/7/2011 3:23:25 PM
That is how I do mine, but I have the issue of the ends of the pins sticking out too. I think it's just a matter of not having enough hair to make a thick enough bun to hide the whole pins. I don't really care though and use them anyway.

Are there any ladies taking Ocella (birth control - now called Zarrah)? I have some questions if you do. Feel free to PM me if you like

Okay, well I've decided I should probably shave my legs again. It's been a while since the last time, the things I love about winter, but now it's getting on my nerves.BUT...maybe I don't have to shave my legs...do any of y'all have any great recomendations of an alternative to shaving? What are some hair removal methods that you have used that have worked.
1/9/2011 4:47:38 PM
shaving is so quick and easy though. i tried nair once and my legs got all itchy and turned bright red. it also didn't remove all of the hair
1/9/2011 4:50:27 PM
ewww shave your fucking legs
1/9/2011 4:51:04 PM
Waxing! It's expensive, but I think it's worth it.I got everything from my eyebrows down waxed but then the boyfriend and I broke up so no one has been around to comment on how soft I am but I enjoy it! ]
1/9/2011 4:53:42 PM
I don't think I could wax my legs. I wax my eyebrows, but that is just way too much pain for me to put on my legs. I hate shaving so much. I also end up missing spots, and when I go as long as I've gone between shaves it takes forever. Maybe I'll get some cream and get the majority of it off and then shave...I need some new razors anyway, but they are so damn expensive.Man I wish it was the dudes that had to shave their legs and hairly legs on a chick was sexy...not the other way around.
1/9/2011 4:56:54 PM
your hair has to be pretty long for them to wax but i guess it lasts a little longer than shaving. i don't really know specifically though i've never had that done. i shave every couple days though so it's pretty quick and i don't miss spots. just take the 5 extra minutes to do it every day. it's worth it and you'll feel better
1/9/2011 5:21:10 PM
^^ you would actually be surprised if you waxed your legs. The skin on your face is considerably more sensitive than that on your legs, and if you just stick to waxing from the knee down, and shave your thighs, it might be worth it - and completely manageable when it comes to pain. I know not all women are like this, but I don't get much hair on my thighs at all, and waxing from the knee down keeps me essentially fuzz-free for a couples weeks at least. And if I'm strapped for cash, I can just shave a little as needed to extend the amount of time between waxing. It's not for everyone, but I totally recommend giving it a shot if you can.
1/9/2011 6:42:13 PM
I'll probably have to hold out on that until I get some money...I definitely don't want to do it myself the first time.I guess for right now I'll just stick with an electric razor, it doesn't take as long to shave. While it might not be the smoothest shave since it is the winter a little stubble won't hurt anyone.

My bff is getting married in April 2012 and I am a bridesmaid in her wedding. She sent me this link to these Alfred Angelo dresses.http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/displayCollection.aspx?CategoryId=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65She does not care what dress we choose just as long as we can get it in burnt orange.I think I like these two the most. I might change my mind and I do have quite a few months to change my mind.Which do you prefer between the two?http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=a8c59e51-eb30-4a94-bef1-06ca00cecc84&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=0&colorId1=http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=49987b23-385d-4ef9-8700-0afdc5b1c8bd&categoryID=772f03c9-de43-4942-bfa0-da77e21ebd65&pg=0&colorId1=

i like the first one
1/10/2011 11:56:57 AM
^^hehe...I really like that one too especially because I can get the sash in a different color.I like the contrast in color with the first one. White and burnt orange I do love!]
1/10/2011 11:57:12 AM
I like the second one!
1/10/2011 11:58:31 AM
You know, I have no idea why I clicked on this, but since I have I feel the need to mention that the first one is god awful. I see a huge executive bitch wearing it (Thus, it doesn't surprise me DDK is into that shit). The second one, however, is hot.[Edited on January 10, 2011 at 12:01 PM. Reason : T]

you prob don't care SaabTurbo but I do appreciate the guy's input.[Edited on January 10, 2011 at 12:11 PM. Reason : minus the part where you called DDK a bitch.]
1/10/2011 12:05:34 PM
The option to change the colors on multiple components of the dress is so shiny to me. I have spent the last 15 minutes playing with color combinations.
1/10/2011 12:14:31 PM
saab has no idea what he's talking about you don't wear dresses like that to the office. I just thought it looked more sophisticated than the second one. It has more detail and I like the material better.the second one just looked kind of plain to me. if it's a laid back wedding than i'd say the second one but if it's a blacktie event i'd say go with the first.
1/10/2011 12:19:17 PM
i like both of themthe first one looks fancier and the second one looks more fun!
