btw the Utica torque driver has a 1/4" hex collet, so it'll take any of the bits from the Brownell's set
1/16/2013 7:52:49 AM
That set is really nice. I just have the cheap DAC set from Walmart. The cheap set still works really well compared to regular drivers. There were a couple of bit that were too wide (just a couple thousandths of an inch) for the screws they're intended to be used on but that's easily fixed with sandpaper or files.

i'm a buy once, cry once kind of guy[Edited on January 16, 2013 at 9:13 AM. Reason : but pretty much any hollow ground bit is going to be better than regular screwdrivers]

I'm often a buythecheaperproductifIcanmakeitwork kind of guy.
1/16/2013 9:28:13 AM
i used to be like that. once i got out of college and was no longer broke, i quickly grew tired of fiddling, fighting, and cursing with inferior equipment to try to make it work. i just love when things work how they're supposed to, i guess.if i find myself broke again tomorrow, i'll probably revert back to the fiddling
1/16/2013 9:32:41 AM
Yeah, I completely understand that. It really just depends on the subject. Some tools you can't skimp on, others only need a little bit of work to make right. I find myself on the extremes. My first knife making tool was a $30 1x30" harbor freight sander that needed a lot of tweaking. From there a lot of guys move into a 2x42" or a cheap 2x72" grinder but I jumped to a 2x72" KMG with variable speed controller, lol. I've got a cheap table top drill press that I inherited. I don't plan on upgrading it until it dies and then I'm sure I'll be going with something big.

Bought my RMR last night. $444.50 on amazon. The next closest was optics planet at $467, and locally they are $525-550.Should arrive by next Wednesday. I also ordered the Ameriglow Operator Tritium Suppressor sights and threaded barrel for the Glock 35. These will also arrive by next wedensday. Then I get to send the slide off to be machined.
1/16/2013 2:16:16 PM
^^midway's site is bogged down with ridiculous amounts of traffic.
1/16/2013 2:20:14 PM
If anyone is looking for a decent .40 they have a few used Glock 22's at Lawmen's for $299 right now. Pretty dang good deal. Picked up a S&W M&P 9mm with night-sights for $455 today.
1/16/2013 4:10:34 PM
new? that's a good catch, especially now
1/16/2013 4:11:22 PM
yeah brand new, it was the last one.my brother actually got the deal of a lifetime from them on Monday, he got a brand new M&P Shield 9mm for $350, he was on a wait-list for it and they called him up. He probably would have paid $500 if they were asking it. I gladly paid $420 for mine from Perry's.[Edited on January 16, 2013 at 4:17 PM. Reason : /]

On another note, I have a used Ruger LCP in excellent condition that I'm looking to sell. Has about 200 rounds through it, has performed flawlessly thus far. I wouldn't be selling it if my wife weren't pissed about all the other guns I've bought recently.[Edited on January 16, 2013 at 4:26 PM. Reason : this is not the actual gun btw]
1/16/2013 4:21:19 PM
^ FYI: There's a used gun thread in the classifieds section.
1/16/2013 5:13:03 PM
How much for the lcp ?
1/16/2013 9:03:58 PM
I would take $240 for it

Anyone know anything about that Jan 19th rally at assorted state capitols? Anyone going to Raleigh this weekend for it? I'm not quite sure what to expect.
1/17/2013 12:52:16 AM
^^there is a wait list with about 150 names on it. As they come in, the people get called. You can put you name on the list and wait if you want. ^ there is a thread on CSC, and a Facebook group. From what I had read, it will be 2-300 people. No guns allowed.
1/17/2013 9:29:22 AM
I thought it was postponed?
1/17/2013 10:27:12 AM
I heard people are going on the 19th as well.
1/17/2013 11:36:10 AM
what's a good price for a 10 rnd glock 17 (made during clinton ban) i don't know much about glocks or the generations but i know this one has barely ever been fired.
1/17/2013 12:46:46 PM
I wouldn't pay over $400 for a like-new gen 2 G17
1/17/2013 1:25:34 PM
yeah i was thinking 350...
1/17/2013 1:26:15 PM
got in a rush to order some of the last bulk 55 gr .224" bullets on midway. forgot to update my account with my new address. now i have 500 bullets over 2 hours away. [Edited on January 17, 2013 at 8:36 PM. Reason : luckily i have a buddy going up there next week who can mule them back to me]

Just finished my SPR upper build (minus a muzzle device that is TBD)Colt Upper ReceiverRainier 18" Ultra Match .223 Wylde BarrelSamson/Rainier Evo 15" RailBurris PEPR MountSFWA SS10X ScopeThinking of going with a vortex flash hider on the end (and when I can find one in stock) and eventually I want to build another lower for it with a PRS stock (and keep everything black)
1/18/2013 6:46:42 PM
so what is its special purpose?
1/18/2013 6:48:35 PM
Precision shooting And maybe blasting a few varmints at my parent's ranch[Edited on January 18, 2013 at 6:53 PM. Reason : mainly just want to do some long range paper punching]

if i lived out there i'd probably never quit calling coyotes
1/18/2013 7:44:55 PM
I would probably put on a compensator or break over a flash hider. Maybe that goes against the build purpose though.
1/18/2013 8:15:49 PM
Sweet looking set up. I don't even know what kind of flash hider/ comp I want to use on my build.Anyone have any suggestions? I just want it to look somewhat unique...not just a simple a2 birdcage...
1/18/2013 8:23:50 PM
get it before it gets banned!
1/18/2013 8:31:40 PM
If you aren't actually concerned with hiding the flash, a battle-comp/dynacomp, bennie cooley or miculek brake.I have seen and heard all of those, and shot 3 of the 4.http://www.brownells.com/search/index.htm?k=compensator&avs|Make_3=AR-15%2FM4
1/18/2013 8:39:55 PM
I haven't shot anything but the A2 so I really don't know the difference. I heard the vortex flash hider was shown not to negatively impact accuracy but I am definitely open to other ideas, would love to be educated on the subject. Was also thinking of an AAC hider/comp in case I get a can later[Edited on January 18, 2013 at 9:08 PM. 1/18/2013 9:05:56 PM
what about a Noveske flash hider?has the structure of a suppressor, but it only has one baffle so it doesn't do any suppressing, and it's not NFA. comes apart for cleaning
1/18/2013 9:44:29 PM
hmm.....i'll have to think about this one....http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/barrel-parts/compensators/ar-15-m16-bennie-cooley-tactical-compensator-prod27074.aspx?ttver=1
1/18/2013 10:20:43 PM
Noveske isn't a flash hider, it is a linear compensator.
1/18/2013 10:23:40 PM
i calls em like i sees em... it hides flash like a mofoanyway, I probably wouldn't put it on an 18" barrel, it's about 3.5" long, meant for SBRs
1/18/2013 10:31:47 PM
1/18/2013 11:23:18 PM
i'm just telling you what i've seen. remember that 9" AK i mentioned a few months ago? the one that doesn't really have a purpose besides being a fun gun?with nothing on the barrel, that thing shoots flames 2 or 3 feet... with the noveske, nothing but smoke.
1/18/2013 11:37:30 PM
weird. did it effect felt concussion?
1/18/2013 11:52:26 PM
definitely. without it, the blast just about knocks your fillings loose. put it on, and its more like a full length AK
1/19/2013 12:19:14 AM
Maybe you didn't see the cone of fire in the daylight?I had one on my 7.5" AR, and there was always a 4' fireball thrown from the front.
1/19/2013 10:11:08 AM
Apparently someone got shot at the gun show clearing a gun. Smh
