I think there are plenty of people that would agree calling to see the flop before pushing with a pocket pair is a fine play. Yeah, you thought he had AA or KK, but you were wrong. Obviously if you are playing and you THINK the other person has an overpair you should fold. The logic you used to come up with that conclusion doesn't make sense to me when you stated he was playing pretty aggressively.

I've had people make that play against me on an 8 high flop when they have 99. They just always assume you have AK and missed for some reason. Not sure why...

8/31/2007 1:59:27 AM
Linoleum that is exactly the same situation that I was in with my QQ (except for the fact that you actually had AA and the guy in the hand with me had AK, which of course I didn't know).I have been trying really hard to not let my cards dictate whether I win or lose. Huge investments preflop commit people to pots, which sucks when the flop doesn't work out. I have never heard a more true statement than that big pocket pairs either win small pots or lose big ones.

Wow I just entered a $1000 guaranteed for $2 and there are only 28 players. Those are good odds. Mind you, I won't win probably, but still good odds. It's a rebuy tourney tho, so I am sure people will be real gay for the first hour.
9/3/2007 2:05:22 AM
he just doubled up twice through the very aggressive chip-leader, 4 handed, he's tied for chip lead.

I was playing in a tournament one time... I got dealt 2 hearts, I don't really remember what they were. I got flopped a flush so I bet, another guy raised a decent amount so I went all in. He called. At that point our cards were turned over and he had pocket aces or kings or something like that. I was not too worried at that point. The flop were all hearts with two low cards and a 6. I remember that 6... With all my chips committed to a pot that I was almost assured of winning, the dealer then proceeded to put down 2 more 6s giving the lucky son of a bitch across from me a full house, beating my flush. That guy pulled 3 6s in a row... A 666 if you must. I took this as a sign and no longer play very much online poker.

9/9/2007 11:05:01 PM
nah waht i mean by that is i knew that the only thing i would be behind was a set, on a KJ8 board, and the guy played the hand preflop like had had naked aces in plo.when he check repot over my pot on the flop, i pushed with KJTQ. I got confident that he just couldn't have KK or JJ due to 2 of each being dead. He didn't have naked aces at all, but rather KKAx, essentially destroying me for a 7 buy in pot (we both were deep and im a moron)]
