Lmao. Defend Ole, I am clueless. Think we will likely lose away from home to the best team in England after injuries to Rashford, Pogba and McTominay; worst fan eva omg.

You can troll better but if we end up winning that’d be hilarious and a further reflection of how much we live in the scousers head rent free.

Doesn't United still have a really good defense?? Liverpool only have 5 3+ goal victories all year, and you think United will be another?

I think betting markets predict 1-0 as most likely, with about 60% chance of Liverpool win

So you spend the whole season laughing at us and now are tempering expectations for a match at anfield in a season where we are like 25 points behind, you are undefeated and miles ahead of anyone else in England.

No I don’t believe it will actually be 3-0 but it could given our injuries. A good defense that shipped 3 goals to city last week. It’s almost like relying on 2 midfielders who have been run into the ground and really only 1 midfielder who offers any quality hurts the overall team in attack and defense.

Unlike delusional pool fans yes I expect a loss against the best team in England when my team is ravaged by injuries. I’d love to be proven wrong for so many reasons though and really hope it happens.

[citation needed]

Other than that though, United are mostly so far back bc of their goal scoring, not their goal stopping. Also Liverpool is not city, Liverpool have been more consistent, especially defensively, but they aren't blitzing people. City have 12 more goals and 14 more xG. By xG, Liverpool are closer to United then City. On the other end, United have the 2nd best xGa in the league. Also, they've played this season, granted with Rash and McT (and without Salah), but are those changes a 3 goal swing?

Anyway, I expect Liverpool to win but not 3-0. It's fine that you expect them to lose, you're just expecting even more pessimistic then that. Also, you should be hoping for a tie or win bc it would be good for United and your happiness as the primary reason, it's weird that "Liverpool fans will be a little sad" is your primary motivation.

Well we rely a lot on Rashford and our front three + Greenwood in general. Anfield will be up for this one and I am sure the team will want to win after the draw at Old Trafford as well. I just don't see where we will get the goals from because if Rashford is out its really only Dan James that can get in behind defenders. I think Martial gets marked out of this game and our lack of creativity in midfield will show massively. Without Rashford we lose our biggest threat and it allows Trent and Robertson to continue bombing up the pitch without Rashford and Dan James to keep them honest on either end.

So at best I can see us relying heavily on the defense to have a good match but more importantly, our full backs need to put in a massive shift because they are the only creative outlet we have and that isn't saying much.

That makes sense. However, relying on your fb's seems dangerous, right? AWB might be the best defensive fb in the league, but he isn't he also one of the least offense geared?

That is part of the issue. Williams has done a better job at this than Luke Shaw and seems to be the right answer for the left but as good as AWB is defensively he isn't great attacking. Seemed to have a bit more endevour though against Wolves and something I hope we are targeting as an improvement in his game. I am hoping we keep Mata in the starting line up because I do think he offers more creativity than Lingard and Periera. I would play Fred, Periera and Mata in a diamond but it likely will be Lingard, Matic and Fred which I think is a mistake.

Hoping Greenwood and James have a good game but tough to see how we breakdown the pool defense without leaving ourselves open to your full backs rushing up the pitch and creating tons of space.

Agree overall with this, I do think Liverpool will look better than they did against Spurs and obviously at Anfield is a huge boost. I would expect the XI to be the same but Fabinho/Matip over Lallana/Nat Phillips on the bench makes me feel better too lol.

But nobody can honestly expect a 3-0. I'm confident enough that Liverpool should and will win but man it's a derby (shit Everton is the only team to score more than 2 goals against them this year) and United is the only team that has gotten anything so far this season. It's going to be tough.

If it actually is 3-0 though I will be permanent Vince McMahon reaction face for the next week

If Bruno happens, which I think it will on Monday given the reliable journalists confirming the news, it will add some much needed balance to the team. Once Scott and Pogba are back that should give us a different dimension. Regardless of the Liverpool result Ole has 6 months to make that work and either win a cup (FA or Europa) or get really close to top 4. In the summer we should get rid of Jesse, Jones and Matic. Sign a attacking Full back, a proper DM like Carrick who can control the tempo in midfield and a right wing. Ideally Smalling and Sanchez are sold and we can promote Tuanzebe. If Pogba goes that would be another hole to fill.

They just need to play at that level against league also-rans.

So weighed down by an 80mil Joe Gomez? It was clever and a bit dirty but achieved its end result. Don’t really understand the blame for Harry there though, he was the only one trying to do his job. We need to stop using zonal marking. It’s so dumb.

I think the difference was the quality of the teams at the end. Defensively I thought we were good. Yes Liverpool could have scored 3 and it would have been fair but I can’t think of many moments where we didn’t comfortably handle most of their forward runs. We kept that front three relatively quiet and DDG helped with his two massive saves. I expected them to be camped on our box though.

Fred was immense. I have been very happy with his improvement and production. He needs to add a long shot on him to become a 5 to 10 goal midfielder and he’d be class. I can’t believe not one united player had the confidence to switch the play. There were so many moments where our full backs offered width but no one tried that long pass. Contrast that to Liverpool and them pinging the ball around. We really miss Pogba here. I think if we had a number 10 like Eriksen we get a goal or two perhaps. Pereira was too slow and his decision making just wasn’t good enough. He tried and runs ragged but that isn’t enough if we want top 4. Lingard and pereira don’t have a future here but our club is absolutely clueless.

With Rashford now also out for two months I don’t have much hope left for the rest of the year. There is a team here but the club is so horribly run that they won’t take it to the next level.

lol at the crying about Gomez, that's how Maguire defends 99% of the time

The game was about what I expected and it should have been put to bed a lot earlier than it was. United was decent enough to maybe steal a point but I think it's safe to say it would have been undeserved.

As good as he is defensively, AWB is a complete black hole offensively. I think they need more of a playmaker on his side of the formation to compensate because James is not yet that player. If they had a CM with 50% more mobility than Matic's old ass, they could actually be more effective on the counter.

Definitely a game that showcased how frustrating Salah can be. Missed some gold chances, gave the ball away frequently, a lot of bad touches, and then scores a goal that not many else would be able to, with the speed, strength and composure to put it away.

He also had quite a few near miss assists

I think a high volume attacking player that gets as much attention as he does will always have a high number of "misses" but I see your point. Maybe he has more than others.

I literally called it clever, didn't realize that's crying? I wish our defenders did that. It was clearly a gameplan to disrupt our zonal marking even more.

And on today's version of top 4 is lava join Tottenham, Leicester and United at home to see who drops the ball more!

I'd say wood fuck face' biggest mistake was hiring Ole because he is never going to get the brunt of the criticism and rightfully so but he will just sack another manager and move on. Fans need to stop going and I honestly hope we go bankrupt in the next 5 years hopefully even sooner.

We aren't going to get top 4, likely out in the next round of the FA cup and hopefully we don't even get Europa league and get dumped out by some shit eastern european team or whoever we are playing next. Only way the idiotic Glazers will leave is if the club isn't make money and it is coming soon hopefully after a decade of mediocrity. Just cancelled my membership. Not stepping foot at Old Trafford till these fuckers sack Woodward or fix this shit.

It's shocking that as bad as United have been, they're only six points out of 4th and Chelsea aren't playing much better than them. It's there for the taking if they picked up a couple of pieces in this window and woke the fuck up, but there's absolutely nothing to suggest that will happen. I'd like to see a Wolves type team steal it from Chelsea honestly.

I'd argue they haven't been THAT bad, overall. They've been decent offensively at getting into good positions but have def been bad at actually finishing and getting shots on target. Defensively they've been great but also unlucky I think. Burnley had one big chance yesterday, didn't score it, but still got two goals. That second goal was just a banger.

Also their best player has been out most of the season. Not sure where Liverpool would be without VVD or City without KDB (wait he missed last season and they had 97 maybe bad example)

This is why we don't believe Ole is the actual issue. Is he great or perfect? No absolutely not but I do think I have seen more effort and endeavour under Ole then any of the other managers before since Sir Alex. Yesterday wasn't perfect and we continued to struggle against the low block but the first 30 minutes had some guilt edged chances fall for Martial and Mata and neither could score.

The club and every manager has been let down massively by the hierarchy. Yes you can say money has been spent but when you spend that money on trash without an actual strategy and see what sticks to your trash wall then its just plain stupid. There is no leadership or strategy and that is astounding given the money involved. These leeches have fucked us and will continue to do so until they are either dead or bankrupt.

It’s admirable you don’t want to turn on a coach and a club legend but if this form continues into the summer and he isn’t upgraded for someone like Poch or Allegri then United is making a huge mistake. This is Moyes era level shit man. If it’s not his tactics and it’s not the level of effort that’s a problem, I don’t know what else you can blame it on bc you definitely thought the talent was at a top 4 level before the season started so it kinda feels like making excuses for him now.

Honestly if I was a United fan, I’d rather let him go now before it gets even more toxic with the fans, especially if you think it’s not his fault and that nothing will change with the Glazers/Woodward. It reminds me of Dalglish when it wasn’t *that* bad but the ruthlessness to move on was obviously the best decision for all parties.

Put it this way, everything Ole is ”building” can be continued and massively improved under Pochettino because he is objectively a way better manager. Switching from LVG, Mou, and now Ole meant a lot of players brought in didn’t fit. Poch can make this core better and will likely be able to attract better players in the window as well. It’s a no brainer and obviously I hope OGS is there for a while instead.

The way things are going I agree with you if its Poch. We should stay away from Allegri with a ten foot pole, rather keep Ole. I would even take Naglesmann or Ten Haag although I think both of them would be dumb to come here with the current structure and would certainly end up sacked. Shit you could argue they are probably better off with Leipzeg and Ajax.

Quote :
"but the ruthlessness to move on was obviously the best decision for all parties."

This is the deeper problem. We are talking about a man who gave Mou a new contract because PSG was flirting and then refused to back him 6 months later. A man who renewed the contracts of Jones and Smalling despite the glaring need to move on. A man who tried to convince Klopp by saying United was like Disney World where you can do anything and we can do things other clubs can only dream of. A man who could have Gotten Fellaini for cheaper 10 days before he actually did. A man who could have gotten Maguire for cheaper if he'd backed Mourinho just a season before. This man sacked LVG before LVG even got to the press conference after the FA cup win (first trophy since Sir Alex) and leaked it to the press. Remember the Herrera fiasco the season before we got him when United sent lawyers that didn't represent us? Same fucker. Patrice Evra recently came out and also said that he told Ed not to extend his contract with the year option and Ed agreed but then went behind his back and did it anyway. This fucker is vile.

This is the absolute shit head running our club so even if we get Poch or god knows who else I still don't think it will be enough. And to make it worse the Glazers will never can this fuck because he does the one thing that they care about well and helped them buy us when no other bank would touch their leveraged buyout.

I hope to god one day in my lifetime I wake up to a club that has been sold and whoever the new owner is actually understands that he/she needs football men and a football structure to put United back on top. I will remember yesterday fondly if we ever win a league or CL again or forever be talking about history because we aren't winning anytime soon.

Clubs have known about it since day 1 that FA replays would happen over the break. There is no complaining for not beating Shrewsbury after being 2-0 up regardless of who you field. Its also disrespectful to not coach the team in the replay regardless of the squad picked.

The FA may not have implemented the break but they have definitely been talking about the need for one and the players’ mental health. It is a joke the decision wasn’t aligned in the first place.

Klopp isn’t coaching because if he decides to play U-23s it makes sense for their coach to coach them, yeah?

I can understand why some Liverpool fans may care or not care about his decision but I don’t understand why anyone else gives a shit.

So you'd rather the replay gets played before a PL game in a short week where there are matches either side? The bigger issue is the format of the cup but within the current format this was known since the beginning. It is disrespectful to the competition, the opponent and the integrity of the game that Klopp is refusing to do his job. Should have won then instead of throwing his toys out of the pram....
