I think they Syracuse game determines if we goto a bowl or not
10/24/2016 1:45:57 PM
We aint beating this UNC team.
10/24/2016 1:47:05 PM
I'd give us a better chance at beating Miami than UNC. But yeah, bowl eligibility likely rides on BC and Cuse. Obviously the upset of FSU and/or Miami would be great though. Definitely can't sleep on that Cuse offense, it's been garbage the last couple of years, but their passing game is legit.
10/25/2016 8:58:40 AM
yeah @Cuse is not a cake walk, but we should still be favored vs them IMO. i think we've got a decent chance to steal one from Miami, FSU, or UNC. with FSU or Miami being more likely than UNC.
10/25/2016 11:37:31 AM
BC, Cuse, UNC, Miami, FSU.I think we go 3-2 out of this group of 5.
10/25/2016 3:48:53 PM
we go 2-3Our defense is really really bad.Teams exposing our weak downfield ability.
10/25/2016 3:58:54 PM
Well, I think we can all agree that the Finley honeymoon is over.
10/25/2016 5:17:03 PM
our defense is not really really bad. it's only kinda not good. letting UL score 50+ is not good. UL scores like that on more teams than not though. we're still only a week+ removed from our defense kinda dominating Clemson. again...it's not a terrible unit. it's not a great unit either. teams "exposing" us have been ECU...a complete embarrassment...and UL....a Heisman QB with an incredibly prolific offense. they do that to a lot of teams.
10/25/2016 5:29:02 PM
Are we watching the same team? Our D isn't great, but it's certainly not awful. Yeah Louisville beat us like a drum, but that was mainly on the offense putting us in consistently shitty field position and giving our guys no breaks. We held Louisville under their rushing average by a good amount, hell we limited Jackson to half his average rushing yards per game. I'd go as far as to say, at least so far this season, our run D is probably top 3rd of the ACC. I'll admit our "bend don't break" approach to the passing game has been a bit flawed at times, but we literally just faced 3 of the best QBs in the NCAA in a row. Two of those QBs will be up for the Heisman, 1 will win it, and 2 of the 3 will be drafted in the 1st round next year. Not many secondaries going to hold up to that. I'm more annoyed with our offense. I understand Louisville had extra time to prepare, but we just looked flat on offense with little to no creativity. Just abandon the end-around to Hines, that play just doesn't work and should be scrapped. We're back to the same crap as Canada where our best players just don't get enough touches. Dayes needed more touches early to get him going, didn't happen. Samuels ended up with only a handful of touches, wasn't that the reason we fired Canada? Finley was just awful, but our WRs were dropping passes too.
10/26/2016 9:08:50 AM
^i agree with your assessment of the defense. i think the stuff about Dayes and Samuels not getting enough touches is really on valid looking at the UL game. and Dayes was hurt in that game. going back to the 2 games before that (Clemson and ND) Dayes had over 50 total touches in those 2 games and Samuels had 100 yards receiving vs Clemson. Samuels did very little in the ND game, but i think his versatility was limited due to the weather partly. he didn't have any carries vs Clemson, but like I said...did have 100 yards receiving on 8 catches and if he had gotten many carries they would've likely been taking away from Dayes' carries.
10/26/2016 9:52:46 AM
Our defense is comprised of two pieces:* an excellent front line that stops the run but doesn't get as much pressure on the qb as I'd like with the pass rush, and* a secondary that's measurably worst in the country at stopping the passAny team that's willing to abandon a balanced attack against us and just pass the ball all day is going to score on us without effort. The Clemson game was a fluke. The only reason we manage to hold teams back is because they think they are supposed to run roughly half the time.[Edited on October 26, 2016 at 10:12 AM. Reason : ]
10/26/2016 10:11:32 AM
^ we could get more pressure if our secondary wasnt shit and we could blitz.
10/26/2016 10:34:25 AM
glad everyone agrees defense is the issue.DD is in charge of the defense overall...it falls on him
10/26/2016 1:17:11 PM
"the issue"? the issue with what? us losing back to back games vs top 10 teams on the road? nah - we lost those games because those teams are really fucking good. our defense isn't great. it's definitely not awful. the "issue" with this team is not as simple as "defense should be better" because all around we need to up the talent level and several positions and execute better at several positions.

http://www.backingthepack.com/nc-state-football/2016/9/23/13036116/nc-state-defense-stats-wolfpack-dave-huxtableThis article and these stats were put together on 9/23, before we even played ND, Clemson, And Louisville.
10/26/2016 2:28:07 PM
and i would guess our Havoc rate went up after playing ND and Clemson since we forced turnovers, had sacks, and TFLs. which is what Havoc rate is. http://www.footballstudyhall.com/pages/2016-nc-state-advanced-statistical-profileso now our overall Havoc rate is 21st in the nation, DBs Havoc rate is 34th, DL is 16th, and our LBs are by far the worst unit by this metric at 94th. but again - Havoc rate is only measuring TFLs, forced fumbles, stuff like that. not really the "overall" measure of a unit.so if you're looking at this compared to how those stats looked a month ago....you would say our D has actually really improved while going through our toughest stretch of schedule all season. so yeah...defense is actually kinda coming around, guys.[Edited on October 26, 2016 at 2:43 PM. Yeah I'm not sure how you could watch the last 3 weeks and think our D has been the main problem. D did enough to beat Clemson and D actually played well against Louisville for the most part but they were put in awful positions by the offense and exhausted. Hopefully against BC we'll get back to being able to have sustained drives, because that Louisville game our offense was getting killed in TOP.
10/27/2016 9:07:24 AM
I'm not making a judgement based on the last three weeks. I'm making it based on the last three years.I haven't been confident we'd stop a third and medium or longer since 2010
10/27/2016 11:07:16 AM
i mean...we can go on "gut" feelings if we want, or we can attempt to quantify the success or failure of defense.
10/27/2016 11:52:14 AM
What does our defense from 2 years ago have to do with our defense now? We were starting a ton of FR and SO the last 2 years, now they're JR and SR. Hell look back at the year we had the #1 D in the country(Mario, Manny, etc). The year before that we had P-Riv putting up video game numbers on offense and our D was ATROCIOUS because Mario and all those guys were young and inexperienced. Each season our D has gotten better statistically(hell and visually just watching the guys, our defenders looked fast/physical against Wake, ND, and Clemson) each season under Doeren.
10/27/2016 1:21:54 PM
Tell me again how our defense is not hot garbage
10/29/2016 10:40:49 PM
Our offense is still light years worse than our defense
10/29/2016 11:31:20 PM
Well, wait till Eli gets hs own recruits in. Not his fault Canada left the cupboard bare
10/30/2016 12:40:12 AM
10/30/2016 10:33:00 AM
I'm sure we'll accidentally win one
10/30/2016 10:40:20 AM
7pm for FSU. ugh
10/30/2016 11:36:49 AM
losing to bc was crazy. even if we lose every game the rest of the season, it was still crazy to think we would back then.
10/30/2016 11:38:16 AM
beating wake was crazy
10/30/2016 11:42:48 AM
what was the line on that game?
10/30/2016 12:00:33 PM
10/30/2016 12:00:53 PM
^+1I'm not a fan of waking up at 6 am on the weekend.
10/30/2016 3:38:16 PM
Too bad we couldn't beat BC and have some momentum before this game. FSU's season is over, feel like they'd be primed for an upset, but I don't see it now that we're coming off a bad loss and the staff under fire.
10/31/2016 6:18:33 AM
Once again our kicking game shot us in the foot in a close game. A missed FG, a kickoff out of bounds, and some less than impressive punting did not help the cause tonight.
11/6/2016 12:22:55 AM
11/6/2016 1:44:33 AM
There's a solid chance we go 0-3 to finish out this schedule. Has Doeren actually had a single impressive win in his tenure here?
11/6/2016 12:11:11 PM
^hello, welcome to tww
11/6/2016 12:28:25 PM
35-7 at chapel hill?
11/6/2016 1:02:30 PM
the first two years were talentless and the last 2 years have been decimated by injuries. theres been a lot of bad coaching and things have been bad but you should be at least a little curious to see what he could do with a team close to full strength. We just don't have anything left in the 4th qtr against these teams with 5 classes of depth.sure, better coaching could mask all of that but its a huge handicap[Edited on November 6, 2016 at 1:09 PM. Reason : a lot to ask for]
11/6/2016 1:09:04 PM
Wtf significant injuries are you talking about?
11/6/2016 3:11:55 PM
Emotional injuries.
11/6/2016 4:31:14 PM
lolol

Hate it for his development, but the guy was 3rd or 4th string behind Nichols and maybe Gallaspy.
11/10/2016 12:56:52 PM
Well I was wondering what e would blame the next loss on, there it is
