firing shula and benching cam for half the season to heal wouldnt be awfulim guessing we're going to do neither and end up going 8-8
9/28/2014 4:07:06 PM
7 more games until bye week
9/28/2014 4:11:09 PM
This is why Greg Hardy was worth $13.1M, pressure of the edges was critical to hide the lack of talent in the secondary. We'll see what happens when Frank Alexander returns next week and TD is healthy. No one is really playing well right now. If we're not missing tackles, we're giving up 1st downs to penalties. Offensively.....not much hope as long as Shula/Rivera keep pretending the o-line and running backs don't suck. Also, Shula's replacement is already on the coaching staff. We hired Johns Ramsdell as an "Offensive Assistant" during the off season. He's Rivera's buddy and has a great track record with passing offenses. We could decide to give him the keys to the offense at any time.[Edited on September 28, 2014 at 4:35 PM. Reason : :]

Gotta watch out for the bucs, now
9/28/2014 4:37:37 PM
^^I wouldn't say the running backs suck, when they're not all injured
9/28/2014 5:03:27 PM
no back would look good with that line blocking for them
9/28/2014 5:35:15 PM
what a shitty game
9/28/2014 6:42:58 PM
well our offense hasn't been productive for a long time now; i guess the question is can we shore up the defense to get it back on the level or we're going to be in for a long seasonthe offense needs a shot in the arm, shula's job security can't be very high right now, half the time coaches get fired anyway is just to get a fresh perspective which is pretty much exactly what this offense needs [Edited on September 28, 2014 at 8:19 PM. ^^Your section seemed entertaining.
9/28/2014 8:27:17 PM
Defense was terrible, but it's understandable. 2 of our best 3 defensive players were out. Charles Johnson has also been MIA this year, and Blackburn is too slow to do anything productive out there. Luke can't do it all.
9/28/2014 8:33:15 PM
I do hope Steve Smith keeps up this production, he could use another pro bowl appearance if he can make hall of fame
9/28/2014 8:34:38 PM
^^^ that was all before the game even started though

Unfortunately, all phases of the team have now turned to pure shit. Offensive line cannot protect Cam or run block to save their lives, literally all running backs are hurt right now, defense is getting completely dismantled on the ground (very surprising, even with Hardy out and TD hurt for the game) and through the air, plus special teams have been subpar overall and dumb penalties that reflect discipline issues are constantly cropping up. Literally the only bright spot has been Kelvin Benjamin, that dude is a stud and a legit #1 receiver. With that ridiculously tough schedule coming up, hard to be any kind of optimistic right now. At least the NFC south looks very weak this year (TB 1-3, Saints about to be 1-3 and Atlanta losing to Minnesota to go 2-2).
9/28/2014 10:38:05 PM
Gotta change styles on both offense and defense, no way around it. For bad or good, the strength of this team is the QB and WRs right now. Need to throw more early so we can score and let our defense play with a lead. The blitz will be more effective then and teams will be less compelled to cram it down our throats. It's a doable pivot but this coaching staff has to realize the need.[Edited on September 29, 2014 at 1:09 PM. Reason : :]

the Panthers clearly need a running back. here is a definitive list of who's available:Willie Parker, Clinton Portis, Daniel Thomas, Tiki Barber, Andre Brown*, Jamelle Eugene, Toney Baker, Montario Hardesty, Phillip Tanner, and Darryl Richardson*suspended until Week 9
9/29/2014 7:29:07 PM
And the winner is....Chris Ogbonnaya!
9/29/2014 7:35:21 PM
Mike Goodson

Lol jamelle eugene.What, no MUFASA?
9/29/2014 7:39:50 PM
Spend the highest % of the cap of any team on running backs and we're signing people off the street Cutting the best player in franchise history when he still has that much leftHey Martin and David,
9/29/2014 7:59:32 PM
What if...Kelvin and Smitty...just what if?
9/29/2014 8:01:47 PM
We wouldn't be much better, because the line still wouldn't give Cam any time. But we'd be more fun in Madden.
9/29/2014 8:04:54 PM
Cutting Smith obviously wasn't just about talent and money.
9/29/2014 8:05:37 PM
Smitty wouldn't have accepted KB getting so many targets
9/29/2014 8:12:08 PM
It's interesting, someone pointed out that while Smitty is putting up great numbers, his teammates have done squat. T. Smith has half his number of targets, and Jacoby Jones has 3 receptions for 20 yards. Yeah, the Panthers never found him a good complementary receiver, but maybe he had something to do with that.
9/29/2014 8:22:22 PM
Isn't green-ellis available now?
9/29/2014 10:02:08 PM
9/30/2014 3:21:37 PM
Smith is so selfish, he even stole a TD intended for Owen Daniels
9/30/2014 3:35:30 PM
$15M in backs and on week 5 we'll be trotting out Fozzy Whitaker, Darren Reaves, and Chris Ogbonnaya to run the ball.

Alexander suspended for 10 more games. See ya'll in 2015 .... or in the 2018 playoffs. What a waste of a season, blame Hurney.
10/1/2014 5:09:02 PM
what a season so far

A win this weekend would go a long way in restoring some confidence within this team[Edited on October 1, 2014 at 5:25 PM. Reason : If we can get through the next month's brutal stretch 2-2 it will be a miracle]

10/1/2014 6:27:56 PM
yep, he'd be able to anchor both the O-Line and D-Line, all while setting career highs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns I guess he'd also be the one talking Shula out of an absurdly vanilla offenseand stepping aside and letting Cam be the leader of the team
10/1/2014 7:05:00 PM
Just let Hardy play. Who cares at this point. Johnson is banged up and Alexander is gone. Our best DE is Mario Addison, an undrafted journeyman DE.Honestly, we should have never sat Hardy in the first place. The 49ers didn't sit McDonald, and nobody gives a shit anymore.
10/1/2014 7:09:13 PM
McDonald was never charged, let alone found guiltynot being that great is bad enough. imagine how fun all the shit we'd catch on a weekly basis would be while losing.[Edited on October 1, 2014 at 7:17 PM. Reason : .]
10/1/2014 7:16:06 PM
Maybe I'm a bad person, but I just don't care anymore. We won't resign him anyway. Even if he is found guilty of domestic violence, the suspension would only be six games. He's already halfway there. Maybe the plan is to bring him back in a few weeks, but I doubt it.Hardy is a little off in the head, but I truly don't think he's guilty. The judge who convicted Hardy is known as a staunch feminist, and the woman who accused him is supposedly bat shit crazy.[Edited on October 2, 2014 at 10:28 AM. Reason : ]
10/2/2014 10:16:27 AM
MORE REALISTIC IDEA, since there's probably no way Hardy suits up this year.Move KK Short to RDE. He's our best pass rusher and probably our best DL at this point, though he's still coming off the bench. He played their some in college IIRC. If Johnson comes back to form, a line of CJ, Star, Cole/Edwards, and Short is at least somewhat threatening.
10/2/2014 10:20:11 AM
Best bet is for Kony Ealy to become a productive player and take over Hardy's spot. Everything else is just temporary. He's been getting around a third of the snaps at RDE which I would guess means he's not totally embarrassing himself. He was always meant to be Hardy's replacement, who was gone after this year regardless.^KK should start at tackle over Cole, he's been our best d-lineman by far this year. CJ just needs to start producing like the elite defensive end he is.[Edited on October 2, 2014 at 11:10 AM. Reason : :]
10/2/2014 11:09:56 AM
I don't know if it has been said on here, but I believe Charles Johnson is hurt. Which is why he hasn't been producing.
