UNC fans seem to think that the only thing that kept it close was their terrible FT shooting....we made one more FT on the same number of attempts.

I don't understand why students don't throw things. I threw things. It was easy and I never got caught. Come on kids. This could be a our tradition. Violence.

Haven't followed this thread at all....I'll read it tomorrow. But this loss is harder for me to process than the usual heartbreaking loss and/or loss to carolina. Leading up the game I was genuinely apathetic...moreso than I can ever recall...expecting a double digit win by UNC. But as the game progressed, I was really impressed with not only how well we played, but how we responded to unc's runs, and a few calls that didn't go our way (not blaming officiating, but a few calls went against us in crucial situations and it would've been easy and not out of the ordinary for our team to fold). We responded to adversity really well in this game. Every time our back was against the ropes and it seemed like we would fold, we punched right back. If this was earlier in the season, I'd look for the silver lining....I'd say, this is a step in the right direction and that this proves we can make the NCAAT. But it's too late for that now. So while I'm very happy and proud of how the team played, this can't even qualify as one of those pathetic "moral victories" because it's too late in the season. It just hurts. Paige was unreal. So was Warren. Fuck UNC.

I have no problem if they don't call TJW trying to draw contact on the last play of regulation (as long as you don't whistle Lewis jumping for a loose ball .5 seconds later)
2/26/2014 11:56:14 PM
^6 I kind of made a point to say regulation in the post you are commenting on

81-83 T.J. Warren Turnover.http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/playbyplay?gameId=400502879&period=3We were leading 83-81 when Warren "lost" the ball OOB. If they'd call a foul there, make it atleast a 3 point game with 35 seconds to go[Edited on February 26, 2014 at 11:59 PM. Reason : ]

I prefer to look at the 7 minutes to start the 2nd half we we didn't score a FG as the reason we lost...

I prefer to look at the stretch where couldn't secure a defensive rebound in the first half as the reason we lost. I was so mad I just wanted to get away. Far away. Maybe I'm gonna buy a plane ticket and am gonna go over there this week and just see what the fuck is up. Several friends have said that's what I should do, while my folks have said to just move on. How stupid of an idea is this?[Edited on February 27, 2014 at 12:06 AM. Reason : x]

^^of course there are worse situations to miss a FT than others, but a team can go 4-9 in one half and then go 12-12 in the second and still lose by a point and blame missed FT's[Edited on February 27, 2014 at 12:09 AM. Reason : I was only refuting his point that missed FT's had nothing to do with losing]

^^That means that there was only one no call in the entire game, which happened to be in regulation. It doesn't mean that in regulation there was only one no-call.[Edited on February 27, 2014 at 12:14 AM. Reason : .]

Yes, just didn't feel like typing it. Your post says there is only one blatant no call in the game, and it is in regulation. It does not say there was only one blatant no call within the limits of regulations, its not qualified like that. Just pointing out why you are confused.

We were jobbed. End of story. At least, in the Syracuse game, we can blame it on home court advantage. Not for this game.[Edited on February 27, 2014 at 12:25 AM. Reason : we're supposed to preform much better than the competition to win a home game? give me a break.]

^^^ so you're going to deny that you posted something along the lines of "not seeing where you said regulation", and then edited after you realized that I clearly said regulation?
2/27/2014 12:25:36 AM
We got jobbed, but we also failed to provide any challenge on Paige's layup. There is a reason we've lost 3 games or so while leading during the final 10 seconds of the game [Edited on February 27, 2014 at 12:32 AM. Reason : ]

you can never blame ONE variable for the entire outcome of the game. You can, however, pinpoint many MAJOR FACTORS.The top 3 in my opinion are...1. State's matador defense2. Marcus Paige3. A thorough screwing by the refs on at least three plays where they made egregious, and obvious mistakes (intentionally or not...that's not important)See? I can blame the refs, without letting our terrible end of game defense off the hook, and without citing a conspiracy theory.
