Williams fumble inside the ten = Cam Int4th and 2 field goals = Cam Int
10/8/2013 10:34:12 AM
^^ You right. There's been quite a few times where Cam put them in position and the defense shit the bed.Tampa and ATL last year come immediately to mind. Buffalo this year was all on the defense.
10/8/2013 11:00:32 AM
clearly the entirety of the Cam Newton's career with the panthers is the 4 games this seasonedit: http://espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=320909027http://espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=321007029 (no INTs but 12/29 and 190 total yards of offense)http://espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=321021029http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=321028003[Edited on October 8, 2013 at 11:59 AM. ^ looking at that made me realize that the team scores absolutely no points. unreal

10/8/2013 12:16:58 PM
^^ those were cherry picked games from last season. we can score but cam has limitations and clear weaknesses. i think I read somewhere the he's the most blitzed QB in the league this year because he sucks when blitzed and the cardinals brought more than 4 guys the entire game or something.cam really needs a coach who understands his strengths and weaknesses. he has jack shit. the weapons around him are not great but good QBs succeed in spite of that. it's hard when the weapons suck and the coaches suck, though.it's a huge shame we didnt fire rivera in the offseason because we need to know how good cam is before giving him a $100 mil contract
10/8/2013 12:51:58 PM
we aren't scoring any points this season besides the Giants game and...LOL at that
10/8/2013 12:55:18 PM
Armanti has been cutBill Barwell points out that had we kept the pick we traded to get Armanti, Torrey Smith or Randall Cobb could have been picked
10/8/2013 3:15:38 PM
It's an absolute miracle he lasted this long, but I don't really understand what cutting him at this point of the season accomplishes. I'm on board with it though if for no other reason than I don't have to hear about how great of a camp he's having next summer.
10/8/2013 3:17:09 PM
I'm 100% fine with Armanti being cutI figured the only reason he stuck around so far this season (despite his great training camp!) was to be the emergency 3rd QB in case Cam and Anderson both got hurtand Silatolu is out for the year (didn't see it in the thread)[Edited on October 8, 2013 at 3:21 PM. that's fucking awfuland to counteract that awfulness, I'll post this awesome articlehttp://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9806344/bill-barnwell-carolina-panthers-offense
10/11/2013 11:36:37 AM
Jesus christ are people really serious about wanting to bench newton?! If these idiots run off Newton i'm going to get pissed off. We ran off kerry collins in 1997 and it's took us 13 fucking years to get another franchise QB for god's sake. The guy isn't Peyton Manning. Got it. We would have been much better off taking Patrick Peterson. Got it.We couldve held out for Andrew Luck or RG III. Understood. But the guy is still a top 15 QB in this league with the potential to be a top 5 QB. If anything we're just lowering his asking price for his next contract which could help us build a contender around him once we undo all the Hurney damage.Just stop.
10/11/2013 5:22:21 PM
lol at RG3
10/11/2013 5:24:03 PM
the barnwell article makes a lot of good points about how much the rest of the team sucksnone of which has anything to do with how good cam is
10/11/2013 5:33:03 PM
Cam almost singlehandedly gives us an effective running game. It makes us nearly impossible to defend in short yardage and goaline situations. It also helps open up the rest of the running game because you have to respect the read option. In the passing game our o-line is flat out blowing a lot of blocks. A less mobile QB would be getting killed back there. How many sacks has he wiggled out of this year and made a play or at least gotten rid of the ball? Significantly more than an average mobile QB would have that's for sure. His accuracy has seemed to improve from last year when he was a bit erratic.Let's face it. We have a #1 WR in Smitty who should have been moved to the slot this year. He's lost a step and his hands have been spotty the last few years. We have a #2 WR that isn't really NFL quality starter. And we have a #3 who is basically just a deep threat and hasn't proven he can even consistently be a very good one at that. We've moved the ball fairly effectively, we just haven't capitalized with enough points. He's done a good job protecting the ball, save for last week. This is also just his third season. He's got a lot to learn. It's WAY too early to give up on this guy. With his size, arm, and speed he's going to be a productive QB for a long time in this league. Whether he's an elite QB, who knows? But he's definitely worth keeping around to find out. Simply too much potential if he ever does put it all together, and even if he doesn't you can still definitely contend with Cam Newton. There are 10 teams right now who would kill for Cam Newton and at least another 10 who would consider swapping their QB for Cam Newton right this moment. In fact, I can't think of a single other QB in the league who I would definitively trade Cam for straight up. If we had a sick roster right now Manning, Brady, and Brees would all be interesting, but given our roster and their age I don't think I'd make those deals as things stand at the moment. I'd take Rodgers in a heart beat, but otherwise I agree.
10/11/2013 5:58:18 PM
Yeah agreed. And you can add russell and probably luck to that list. Kaep if he snaps outta his funk. Probably ryan too but I think thats it. Thats not to say alex smith and several others are not definitively better than cam right now. But would you want them over cam for the next 6-10 years? Too early to call in my opinion. I mean smith sucked hos first several years in the league. Cam didnt.
10/11/2013 6:36:35 PM
AP is about to rip us a new asshole Sunday. That will be a man on a mission.
10/11/2013 9:17:18 PM
I think we hold him to a pedestrian game of 112 yards and 1 TDor he makes Kuechly tear his ACL and concusses half of our secondary
10/11/2013 9:21:54 PM
He may record the NFLs first flying touchdown sunday.
10/11/2013 10:08:32 PM
either way we're fucked, Minnesota will rally for AP whether he plays or not. just like when we played NO in the Katrina Bowl

I don't see how he can possibly play through this without being distracted. Either he's going to play poorly or he'll be the first RB to run for 700 yards on a single carry - breaking the spines of 11 defenders, 10 teammates, and 6 referees before spiking the ball at midfield.
10/12/2013 4:06:08 PM
I can only imagine the unbridled rage that he has pent up after this series of events. He'll probably see the face of that POS that beat his kid to death on every defender tomorrow.
10/12/2013 7:50:24 PM

If I'm gonna give Shula shit when he sucks, I'm gonna give him props when he does well. The guy called a hell of a game today, especially in the first half. Minn couldn't key on anything we were doing and looked like they were completely guessing on run/pass a majority of the half. We threw a couple of well timed screens when they blitzed. Hopefully that's a lesson from the Cardinal game when he didn't call any and it would have been there all day.I think beef stew gets back next week and helps give this O another weapon.Damn I wanna be 500 next sunday.

Since Rivera took over 2+ years ago, the only coach in the league less likely to go for it on 4th down has been... John Fox.Great to see Rivera actually making adjustments and taking some risks on 4th down these past few weeks. Of course, it's easier to make those calls early in the game, or when you're way behind. We'll see if Rivera has truly learned anything next time the Panthers have a chance to seal a win on 4th and short.
10/14/2013 12:47:45 PM
he says he's always gonna go for it on 4th and short nowI'll stay cautiously optimistic, because it really isn't as simple as thatbut we'll see
10/14/2013 1:40:28 PM
He's pretty much got to go balls out, he's coaching for his job now and he knows it.
