His inability to run is killing this offense. Need to put Boykin in until they get get healthy.

Y'all listening to this Ovies/Giglio podcast?

I haven’t. Tbh, I feel like I know the story well enough to not glean much by listening. Do you recommend it?

Nothing groundbreaking so far. Interviews with Glennon and a bunch of coaches through 2 episodes (Avent, Amato, Trestman and a few more)Also John Bunting is convinced Wilson desperately wanted to go to UNC but they had promised Mike Paulus they wouldn't sign another QB. But he definitely knew Wilson was really good. Oh also he never talked to their basketball coach about Wilson playing 2 sports, but he definitely would have signed with UNC if they had only offered! So yeah, nothing really new so far (maybe some insight into his recruitment.) I think most halfway knowledgeable state fans understand what happened, but it's good to get/keep the "real" story in the public eye with all the nonsense that RW has spouted. Oh i guess Giglio had a good quote from TOB, something along the lines of when RW was in spring training with the Rockies that they didn't expect him back playing football because he had never failed at anything.]

I love Elliot Avent so much.Hands-down my favorite NC State coach of all time.

The 99.9 podcast has been pretty interesting. Avent and Glennon have shared the most insights. Definitely get the feeling that TOB and RW were never on the best of terms with Wilson being asked to switch to defense early on, TOB apparently feeling like had RW not played baseball and had instead been at spring FB workouts - he would’ve made more plays in 2010 against ECU and MD (or we could’ve just not had CJ Wilson stay in single coverage on Torrey Smith), etc.Overall, it felt like RW was a college kid who really didn’t know what the best decision was to make regarding baseball or football, and TOB being TOB didn’t appreciate that. Podcast also gave some insight into everything Russell was dealing with around his Dad’s illness while Russell was at State.Found it interesting that 2010 was the first time RW went to spring FB workouts, only for TOB to then assume RW 100% wasn’t coming back when Russell went to the Rockies Single A affiliate afterwards, and then for TOB to have that conversation about the 2011 season with Glennon and not with Russell. Avent also didn’t really paint TOB in the best light in terms of his ability to communicate with his players, or with the other coaches at NCSU. TOB essentially traded in Russell for one year for two of Glennon to put all his chips in for that 2012 season, which ended up being a hugely disappointing season - and TOB’s last. Good to see Russell back on campus though. That Wisconsin commencement speech is still cringeworthy, but it was great publicity for State to have him back around the University.[Edited on May 15, 2021 at 6:34 AM. Reason : TBDV ]

It's pretty clear that Avent and TOB didn't get along on a personal level. To me, it seems like Avent (a self-admitted huge fan) acts in some ways like a lot of high dollar boosters - he wants to be in the know of everything going on in football and basketball - and TOB was having none of it. Avent comes off to me like a jilted fanboy who's upset because the coach didn't want to be his buddy like the previous one.I've found Glennon to easily be the best/most insightful part of this podcast. I'm not sure i believe everything Avent has to say as some of the stuff has been contradicted by things others have said, especially with regards to the recruitment of Wilson. Oh and the Wayne Crawford (RWs freshman roommate) interview gave some nice insight too]

I thought his commencement speech was solid; thought he did a little too much name-dropping etc but I liked it. Nothing crazy insightful, but some personal revelations and definitely inspiring.Interesting points that leapt out to me:Wilson didn't mention TOB, only named Chuck Amato from his recruitment process. That was despite name dropping nearly every other possible coach or player he interacted with, including Dana Bible. He did make a joke about his time at State being over sooner than expected. He mentioned his dad's illness impacting him with the implication (to me, but I could be remembering/interpreting wrong) it played a role in how he left. But didn't elaborate any more than 'it became clear I had to go'For anyone who wants to watch: https://youtu.be/Knj8iU25BPI?t=5180
