Bobster, the ACMEinsraller goes into the novacom folder. And when in the command prompt you need to cd into the novacom folder. [Edited on October 22, 2011 at 10:05 PM. Reason : .]

yeah forgive me, you can use windows prompt, but there is a terminal in the novacom folder so its unclear in the directions, i just did it
10/22/2011 10:23:45 PM
you are forgiven. worked on my laptop, not sure what the problem was with my desktop.
10/22/2011 11:01:01 PM
on the webOS side, they finally re-released the Remove Tap Ripple patch for the OS update
10/23/2011 12:08:07 AM
So should I wait for a beta release of CM7 or go for the Alpha? I'm getting kinda jealous the more I hear about it.
10/23/2011 12:34:40 AM
other than gyroscope, there isnt a whole lot that isnt functional for the average android user. i pulled the trigger tonight. sounds like a lot of people did lol. wife's been playing angry birds every since i said "i put angry birds on this" so maybe it was a mistake.
10/23/2011 12:36:40 AM
^^I haven't had any issues so far aside from the occasional app lagging and bringing up the "Wait / Force Close" menuAs long as you include the Moboot and Clockworkmod .ZIP files as well as the actual ...fullofbugs.zip file when you install, its pretty simple to do. Only tricky thing is the command line / terminal thing but thats been clarified a bit over the last dozen posts. And if you decide you don't want to mess with it, its easy enough to just reboot back into webOSits an alpha version, but its pretty damn stable
10/23/2011 2:34:56 AM
I love not having to refresh every tww page, as opposed to how webOS made you do it
10/23/2011 1:01:14 PM
im currently in webOS mode for better stattracker for fantasy footballalso webOS keyboard > CM7 keyboard
10/23/2011 1:16:04 PM
I reinstalled flext9 from Amazon app storeI never found a good webOS start tracker though, using ESPN and Yahoo trackers in CM7
10/23/2011 1:22:32 PM
just using yahoo's stat tracker through the webOS browserflash just seems to run better than on android
10/23/2011 1:23:38 PM
this update seems to have helped speed it up. placebo?
10/24/2011 10:02:41 PM
Nah, not placebo. They added a lot of optimization updates to webOS. The biggest being that they finally upgraded from the much slower and older build of Node.js to the current one.Release notes for developers:https://developer.palm.com/content/api/release-notes/3.0.4-669.htmlRelease notes for consumers:http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb2/na/touchpad/touchpad/wifi/solutions/article/18666_en.html#304[Edited on October 25, 2011 at 10:01 AM. the webOS browser is still really flakey though. It doesn't do facebook correctly, the copy/paste menu passes events through to things behind it, text boxes go haywire sometimes where the autocorrect tries to kick in every few letters, google news doesn't render correctly in portrait mode, and there are lots of other weird rendering problems. Kind of odd considering its supposed to be WebKit based.there's a lot of little polish issues they need to work on. It reminds me of iOS version 1.
10/25/2011 7:26:16 PM
copy/paste is a little wonky, but why not use the facebook app...probably better than the ios/android apps
10/26/2011 7:04:20 AM
the webOS facebook app does have a slick hi, but it has issues loading some content and can't access groups.
10/26/2011 9:18:49 AM
ha yeah. The app is half-assed because apple got mad at facebook and hp.
10/26/2011 10:10:41 AM
finally got one of these from NCIX; anyone on here using the HP Folio case? Does anyone recommend using a screen protector?
10/29/2011 1:13:44 PM
i bought a 3-pack of screen protectors on ebay...took the first 2 off because there were too many air bubbles...eventually put the 3rd one on even though it still has a few air bubbles...tricky as hell to get it all the way on without some bubblesoverall though i dont think you really need a screen protector
10/29/2011 2:01:13 PM
screen protectors have always felt like they cause too much friction, harder to slide my finger on
10/29/2011 2:12:03 PM
i'd reccomend armor suit screen protectors. tricky to put on, but with the solution you can reapply as many times as possible. crystal clear when they are on, it uses a self healing technology, so if the screen protector gets scratched, it'll reheal itself. and they have a life time warranty which i've tested cause my tablet broke and when i took it off i got hair stuck to it so they sent another.
10/29/2011 2:20:22 PM
I'll also add I've only scratched one screen ever (blackberry) without using a protector
10/29/2011 2:40:23 PM
I was looking at that armorsuit one but a lot of the reviews say it reduces sensitivity. I've got a few days to decide before it gets here, but most people say it doesn't need a protector. I definitely want the HP case though, sadly just missed out on it being $17 the other day
10/29/2011 2:56:41 PM
Meh. I don't do screen protectors on Gorilla Glass. They are VERY scratch resistant. So unless you're going to sandblast it, it's pointless.
10/29/2011 7:22:09 PM
went ahead and ordered the HP Folio case, will forgo the screen protector. case and TP should be here Friday
11/1/2011 3:56:54 PM
11/1/2011 4:16:04 PM
I'd rather deal with a few nearly-invisible scratches than deal with a screen protector.
11/1/2011 5:25:17 PM
^Same. That's the way I've felt about every touch screen device I've ever owned (phones included). Having some stupid piece of plastic in the way is 1000 times worse than a little bit of minor scratches that you can only see in sunlight.]
11/1/2011 6:25:25 PM
my tablet is still really sensitive with the armorsuit, i haven't noticed any less sensitivity, it also like absorbs fingerprints or something, cause i never see any on it.
11/1/2011 6:35:01 PM
^^^^ I never said it was scratch proof. Screen protectors are also not scratch proof either, and you're crazy if you think they offer an extra layer of protection. Anything that would scratch the glass isn't going to be protected by a thin cheap sheet of plastic. Now, if we were talking about plastic screens (such as the ones found on Blackberrys), they would be necessary. And if your phone has a case with a front cover, it's not necessary (my iPhone has no screen protector, but I keep it in a case that covers the front. I remove the cover when I use it).
11/1/2011 7:29:53 PM
i havent really noticed any difference in touch sensitivity since installing my screenwithout a screen looked better though since there were no air bubblesbut the air bubbles are minimal and your eyes just kind of ignore them after a few seconds
11/1/2011 7:45:48 PM
My disdain of the screen protectors has nothing to do with any lack of sensitivity and everything to do with the bubbles. I don't know how anyone puts up with them. I'd rather give a hungry german shepard 15 minutes with my iPad than put on a bubbly ass pos looking sheet of grimy plastic.]
11/1/2011 7:56:52 PM
you guys are doin' it wrong.
11/1/2011 8:00:08 PM
air bubbles are kind of like finger printsyou can't even really see them when the screen is on
11/1/2011 8:00:09 PM
I put a screen protector on a first gen ipod touch that we got before we got iphones or any other touch screen devices. yeah the air bubbles bother me, and i agree that once the screen is on, you can't really see them. Apart from that, the biggest thing that bothers me is that the actual texture of the plastic cover bugs me. It has a little more friction than the glass, and it just bothers me to touch it.It has become a hand-me-down to my 3 year old, in which case the screen protector makes a hell of a lot more sense. but anyway, like anything else, go with what works for you....

It told me I added it to my cart 3 separate times but there's nothing there. oh well, guess I'll just spend that money on a galaxy nexus.
11/4/2011 2:37:52 PM
the acc.com gamefeed streams pretty well on the webOS side
11/5/2011 2:38:35 PM
Tiger Direct has touchpads in stock again but there's a catch. You can either buy a 32GB outright for $299 or they'll give you a $150 mail-in rebate if you buy an HP computer. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1435092&sku=H24-100054

They released an Alpha3 (CM7)http://rootzwiki.com/topic/10121-releasealpha3cyanogenmod-touchpad/if you need hold-your-hand detailed instructions, find them spelled out on page 9 of that thread, but page 1 has the .zip file you need to DL to the SD card before going into clockworkmod]
11/27/2011 10:01:34 PM
I love webos but I hate the browser. How "set it and forget it" is the android hack? What's the battery life like?
11/28/2011 2:43:46 AM
not sure what you're asking about 'set it and forget it'battery could be better...it gives the option to boot into either webOS or Android
11/28/2011 10:47:32 AM
Misleading thread title is misleading
11/28/2011 10:54:33 AM
battery life sucks so bad on the first cm7 alpha, i might wait until they have an ICS version
11/28/2011 2:46:22 PM
battery life wasn't all that bad on the alpha 2 but got tired of the sleep of death and random wifi drops.
11/28/2011 2:55:50 PM
Lets say I wanted to buy one of these things now, where is the best place to get one that I won't get incredibly gouged? And how much would I expect to pay for the 16gb version? All I really want it for is browsing and reading comic books.
11/29/2011 1:26:59 PM
you can't, you'll probably pay $250 at which point you're better off buying a new or refurb Tegra2 Android tablet... but i guess those are still $75-$100 more... but if you really want one:http://www.ebay.com/ctg/HP-TouchPad-16GB-Wi-Fi-9-7in-Glossy-Black-/108784397?LH_ItemCondition=1000&_dmpt=US_Tablets&_pcategid=171485&_pcatid=839&_refkw=hp+touchpad+16gbis about the only fair price.[Edited on November 29, 2011 at 3:36 PM.
