a tidy little finish by vdv

It was a nice takedown off the chest to get that half volley
10/2/2011 11:44:32 AM
Would have been shitty, but technically VDV should be off. It's definitely an automatic yellow to celebrate with the crowd...
10/2/2011 11:59:54 AM
Well his first yellow was bullshit so not really.
10/2/2011 12:08:27 PM
Stay classy, Arsenal fans
10/2/2011 12:11:03 PM
Ramsey makes up for his absolutely horrible first half. 1-1
10/2/2011 12:15:41 PM
Szesney or whatever his name is is a top 10 world keeper already.
10/2/2011 12:22:27 PM

^Agreed. Looking at the replay/trajectory of the ball, no way he keeps that ball down without using his arm. *And I was rooting for Spurs.*
10/2/2011 5:38:29 PM
Looked like the top of the arm to me too fwiw.
10/2/2011 5:57:42 PM
LOL at Gary Neville being the color commentator for Sky on that North London derby.[Edited on October 2, 2011 at 11:17 PM. Reason : oh my, that Walker goal was nice. VDV handled for sure, tho.]

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/965570/carlo-ancelotti-open-to-arsenal,-tottenham-and-liverpool-jobs?cc=5901Ancelotti wants a new job, watch out Wenger. Arsenal and Spurs would both be 10x more dangerous with Ancelotti in charge.side note: skinny Ancelotti looks weird.
10/3/2011 9:27:41 AM
lol
10/3/2011 10:09:57 AM
Iirc, the Aston Villa manager used to coach at Birmingham and so far, so good. Obviously different dynamics but it can happen.
10/3/2011 3:25:35 PM
Sagna broke his leg.
10/3/2011 3:27:41 PM
I would make that swap in a heartbeat. Get a nice payday from the FA to see Arry off then hire a better coach with championships under his belt. Win.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/965746/premier-league-loses-television-rights-case?cc=5901Interesting Story with a few parallels to sports markets over here. Most interesting is that you couldn't show live soccer games in pubs between 3:00-5:15. As if there would be a collective "fuck that shit" movement by fans to not actually go to the games.]

Too bad Tevez would have to agree to a transfer there. It would serve him right if City could just ship him to bumfuck Russia without his consent.
10/7/2011 1:21:55 PM
FUCK FUCKING WEST HAM It was a bunch of backdoor deals the first time when they didn't have the funds to actually complete the move to the Olympic Stadium that they should have never been awarded in the first place. Now, they are just going to lease the stadium and have restarted the process but the mayor is openly acknowledging that West Ham, again, will be awarded the bid even though their club sucks, they have no money, and are currently relegated. Way to go, politicians http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id/7087245/london-olympic-stadium-deal-west-ham-collapses[Edited on October 11, 2011 at 5:07 PM. Reason : yes im mad]
10/11/2011 5:06:44 PM
Wait, Spurs fans actually want to move to that stadium?
10/11/2011 5:30:00 PM
The size of WHL is the only thing holding back the club right now. 37k seats isn't enough revenue to keep up financially with the other top tier EPL clubs unless a move is made. 60-80k in the OS site is almost double what the club would be making. There is a proposed (and approved) plan by the folks that did Stamford Bridge for a new WHL that would be built on the current site, but it would cost $texas opposed to the payout to move to OS after 2012.[Edited on October 11, 2011 at 5:40 PM. Reason : .]
10/11/2011 5:38:52 PM
that stadium is terrible though. looks like some random stadium from eastern Europe
10/11/2011 5:48:13 PM
If you get such a bigger stadium that's all the more pressure to try and fill it, which I'm not sure Tottenham would be able to do. Chelsea are in the same boat, they're trying to figure something out to get a bigger ground thinking it will automatically start raking in the cash but they have to send out shit loads of adverts to sell tickets to their Champions League games.
10/11/2011 6:15:47 PM
Wait, so do you think West fucking Ham is going to be packing the OS?I'd rather have a stadium 80% full with 50k people vs West Brom and sellouts for the big matches than having a full WHL and being unable to compete financially.^^ The aesthetics do suck. Having to keep the track would suck major balls. You make sacrifices for the almighty dollar tho I guess.[Edited on October 11, 2011 at 7:47 PM. Reason : /.]
10/11/2011 7:45:56 PM
No, West Ham can't pack the stadium either. Small-ish stadiums aren't a big handicap, if at all. Juventus just downsized with their brand new stadium but they know they can sell it out. Better to have a stadium you think is too small, but sold out, than have stadium that fits 90k but you have to make the neutral supporter areas bigger just to sell a few more tickets (and still probably not sell out), resulting in a more boring experience.

Why does Gareth Bale start at LB for Wales?
10/11/2011 9:36:33 PM
Lots of people on here with much more technical prowess than I, but I will attempt an answer here.If he is on the wing he can be marked by up to 3 players at any one time and if the back line defends deeply then his speed and is nullified because there isn't space to run into. If you push him to LB then the defense can't afford to mark him or they would have a tough time getting out of their own end. Since he isn't marked in this scenario when he pushes up he has tons of space to run into and you are maximizing what he does best by letting him bomb down the line.[Edited on October 11, 2011 at 10:39 PM. Reason : that may be completely wrong , but knowing Bale's style that is my guess...]
