I will never speak an ill word of Russell Wilson. He's amongst my favorite NCSU players due to not only his athletic performance, but his maturity and how well he represented NCSU throughout his tenure as a Wolfpack player and student.I believe that TOB and RW made respectable decisions that serve their own goals best. If RW returns to football, his motivation will be to try and make a case for an NFL career of some sort, and he can't do that splitting time or being a backup (obviously). I don't blame him or harbor any ill will for wanting to ensure he has playing time.I think TOB made the right decision by committing himself to Glennon. He has a young receiving core and a talented yet largely untested QB in Glennon and needs to do whatever he can to help both of those parties succeed. Consistency, confidence, and cohesiveness are paramount for their development, and those cannot be best achieved with a question mark at QB going into the fall.Unfortunately, it's fair to assume that MG has even more pressure on him now, b/c if he falters at all, the media and you people will immediately play the RW "coulda woulda shoulda" card.

I think they are about to talk about him on 680 The Fan in Atlanta. Said "there could be a potential game changer in the SEC East"

they seem to think its South Carolina. Auburn would love him but it doesnt make as much sense to RW since they are rebuilding at a lot of positions. "if Russell Wilson transfers to ANY school in the SEC, he would immediately be the starter and the best QB in the SEC"[Edited on May 4, 2011 at 12:31 PM. Reason : d]
5/4/2011 12:29:44 PM
i would eliminate a school that injured me just for spite
5/4/2011 1:01:13 PM
I believe a rep from SC has already said they don't have interest. Also WILSON IS PLAYING BASEBALL, so talking about potential teams is pretty stupid until a report from the Rockies saying they will let him play somewhere is released.

oops, read it wrong[Edited on May 4, 2011 at 1:10 PM. Reason : my b]
5/4/2011 1:09:58 PM
i'm considering playing for auburn and sc, too
5/4/2011 2:19:27 PM
It's weird how people see the quotes from the Rockies saying there would be issues if RW wanted to ditch baseball for another season of football (because he needs to extra training in the fall leagues etc etc) and then immediately turn around and continue talking about who he might play for if he comes back.If he tries to ditch training again to play football, I see the Rockies letting him go. Then, awesome play or not the NFL is not going to draft him to be a first stringer, and he's going to end up standing on the sideline with a mic on instead of playing anything, and making bench money instead of Rockies player money.
5/4/2011 2:21:20 PM
I really don't think he's good enough to be a backup. There are less than 100 quarterback spots in the NFL. I can't see him ever being one of the best 100 quarterbacks in the world. He could have a hell of an arena career. Joe Hamilton 2.0.
5/4/2011 2:36:19 PM
right, but you don't necessarily have the top 96 QBs in the world on NFL rostersdo you want your 3rd QB to be some veteran who you can depend on if the worst occurs (or to help bring along your young starter, like Brunell/Sanchez?) Some teams may go that approach, but then again some teams may want to have a young kid with potential that isn't currently in that "Top 96", but could end up being a starter down the line with time and work ethic.I definitely could see Russell as a developmental 3rd string QB for a few years at least. Definitely understand your argument, though.[Edited on May 4, 2011 at 2:45 PM. Reason : well, brunell was 2, Clemens was 3, but you get the idea]
5/4/2011 2:41:37 PM
Right, and I think his best possible outcome would as a "package guy" who could be inserted for 15-20 plays a game as a change of pace. Like a Seneca Wallace role where he'd have designed rollouts and run/pass options to keep the defense off balance. It could work if the starting QB was a statue who was no threat to run; it would at least make the opposing team spend practice time to gameplan for the threat of putting him in.

I respect Gold and Ovies a lot more after watching this. Wilson is at fault, not TOBhttp://www.wralsportsfan.com/ncsu/video/9547929/#/vid9547929
5/4/2011 4:53:35 PM
Bottom lineRussell didnt want to commitTOB wanted a commitment and didn't get itRussell never thought he would get the boot until he got the bootI love RW and wish him the best but I understand what TOB did. It sucks because Mike Glennon is probably going to run us into the ground but it is what it is.This is just another chapter in the book of NC State SHIT.

^ lol. Why have people been comparinghim to matt ryan.
5/4/2011 11:11:33 PM
obviously because TOB coached at BC, so therefore any QB must be like Ryan
5/4/2011 11:17:53 PM
TOB himself has said in the past that MG's abilities and play style were very similar to MR, and if I'm not mistaken MG was better.
5/5/2011 12:07:22 AM
yeah but let's be realistic, none of us know shit until he shows it on the field, "us" includes TOB
5/5/2011 12:13:05 AM
^^^^similar build, same throwing motion. i think those are the 2 biggest reasons. Matt Ryan was a damn baller at BC and it pissed me off.
5/5/2011 8:40:03 AM
i remember when daniel evans punked matt ryan (and tob)only highlight of that year iirc
5/5/2011 4:13:06 PM
^FSU?
5/5/2011 4:16:39 PM
Can someone tell me how TOB has changed the offense to fit Glennon? What's going to be different. I assume he has a better arm than RW.
5/5/2011 4:52:29 PM
If it's anything like his offenses at BC: less shotgun (a lot less), fewer designed roll-outs, more power running.
5/5/2011 4:54:05 PM
run-first, throw second
5/5/2011 4:54:41 PM
does anyone here know any verified changes?
5/5/2011 4:55:05 PM
How the fuck would we know?
5/5/2011 4:56:42 PM
TOB sent a copy of the playbook to all of us. Did you not get yours?[Edited on May 5, 2011 at 4:58 PM. Reason : .]

Hey cockbags, I meant more along the lines of did anyone pay attention at the spring game and notice anything different.I'm not asking for a playbook.[Edited on May 5, 2011 at 5:03 PM. Reason : .]
5/5/2011 4:59:28 PM
We never show anything in the spring game, honestly.
5/5/2011 5:02:59 PM
i would assume if we were surplanting a duel threat QB with an immobile pocket QB, we would see a change in approach
5/5/2011 5:04:28 PM
If you think about we never had a dual threat qb offense. Wilson did his running damage after plays broke down, not on designed runs. The offense will not change much if at all. ]
5/5/2011 5:06:49 PM
but he has twice the arm that RW has (supposedly)
5/5/2011 5:30:34 PM
^^ Did you watch us play? There were plenty of designed RW run plays. Just because we didn't run an Auburn type offense where running was a core part of the offense doesn't mean we didn't have a dual threat offense.[Edited on May 5, 2011 at 5:31 PM. Reason : ^^]
5/5/2011 5:31:15 PM
Had season tickets for 30 years. The only designed run for Wilson we ran all season was the same old dive option play that every team in the country runs now. He got about 2 yards every time we ran it. But please, elaborate more on this dual threat offense we seemed to have run with RW. Hell, we didn't even roll him out as much as we should have. ]
5/5/2011 5:39:03 PM
Does anyone have ESPN Insider and care to share this new article that they've put up containing an interview with RW?
