texas hurt the big 12 because the longhorn network was going to put a monopoly on recruiting in that area...the current ACC schools don't have to worry about losing recruits from that region because it is already nearly impossible to get any good players from that area to come to the ACC
9/17/2011 1:30:18 PM
i think it was a sarcastic rhetorical question

id rather texas run shit than unc
9/17/2011 1:52:16 PM
I be fine with Texas if they didn't have that huge TV deal attached to them. No revenue sharing from that is what pissed off the Big XII in the first place.
9/17/2011 1:56:52 PM
if you think UNC runs shit in the ACC, then you're in for a surprise when texas joins the league.
9/17/2011 2:27:40 PM
9/17/2011 3:23:15 PM
If I was TCU I'd be knocking on the big 12s door saying please save us while saving yourselves haha
9/17/2011 3:31:17 PM
if i was TCU, or BYU or Utah, i feel like an idiot for leaving a conference that would have been poised to get an automatic bid after the incoming folding of two bcs conferences.

i have no idea what's going on. I do like how the ACC just keeps pilfering the big east, though[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 4:52 PM. Reason : ]
9/17/2011 4:51:43 PM
go ahead and offer to Notre Dame and Texas and finish this shit up
9/17/2011 4:55:29 PM
might as well just nab two more big east schools and give 'em the death blow.
9/17/2011 4:57:12 PM
ND is in the Big East for basketballbut sure why not, fuck the Big Least
9/17/2011 4:57:59 PM
I'd say just grab west virginia, so that maryland will finally have an actual rival and quit fuckin' up our season. maybe Uconn to round it out, which would make the ACC tournament the premiere tourny in the country again.fuck texas, though. that's like inviting the neighbor over for drinks when you know he wants to fuck your wife[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 5:15 PM. 9/17/2011 4:59:24 PM
Big East? More like Big Bitch.
9/17/2011 5:01:08 PM
likely uconn, and cinci or rutgers (assuming the texas thing is all talk)SEC panics and grabs Mizzou or wvu to hit 14
9/17/2011 5:03:08 PM
why would the SEC panic over the ACC expanding to 16?
9/17/2011 5:33:27 PM
ncstate has to leave the acc now to preserve any shot at perpetual mediocrity in basketball or football.[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 5:39 PM. Reason : we will be guaranteed to never finish top 5 in bball or football. ]
9/17/2011 5:38:55 PM
nc state leaving, which was never a reality anyway, had its door shut when everyone agreed to the new $20MM exit fee
9/17/2011 5:40:55 PM
o i know. im just saying we have no shot to ever be good at basketball consistently or football, so in hindsight, why stay in the acc over the sec where we could have a shot at being consistently good in basketball and could always at least claim we were decent in football even if we lost every conference game.
9/17/2011 6:06:15 PM
wow I'm not crazy about the super confs but pitt and cuse would be the absolute ideal members, quality football, great basketball thank god, and we could keep up our academic reputation, I wonder if the remaining members of the big 12 and big east will just combine now
9/17/2011 6:14:05 PM
so we'll have:PAC 16SECBig 10/whatever they will be calledACCand Big XII+Big East

us and UNC (and to a lesser extent duke and wake) would be wise to snub ECU, if only to keep them down. It would be stupid to dilute the recruiting pool in NC by adding another in-state school into the mix. This is the main reason why I HATE playing them in Greenville when we don't have to.I doubt anyone in the ACC ranks seriously considered adding ECU anyway, so i'm sure its a moot point[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 6:39 PM. I don't think the conference is any rush to take teams. Assuming Syracuse and Pitt are already in, we have 14 teams already lined-up for 2014-2015. Even if one or two teams defect to another conference (which seems unlikely since they all agreed to up the buy-out to $20M), we'd still have enough for a conference championship game. I don't think 16 teams is a 'must have' number for any sort of conference advantages.

so you're saying Adidas jerseys are undergoing an expansion?
9/17/2011 7:17:08 PM
I was trying to avoid an inland school to try and keep it atlantic coast conference, not east of the mississippi conference. Uconn wouldn't be bad, but would unbalance things a bit for football, but the plus side would be complete dominance of women's basketball.
9/17/2011 7:34:45 PM
you can go ahead and forget the "atlantic coast" part. there is absolutely no reason to stick to it.
9/17/2011 7:38:58 PM
LOL, the Big Ten has had 11 schools for years, why should we care about the Atlantic Coast part?
9/17/2011 7:44:24 PM
I don't want any GDI's from the shitty big east in our conference. I'd rather have Sun Belt teams than those douche nozzle big east turds
9/17/2011 7:44:55 PM
you drink pee
9/17/2011 7:48:25 PM
^that's the rumor
9/17/2011 7:49:56 PM
assuming all this goes down, the next question would be can we still do all the preserve rivalries scheduling formula we had before
9/17/2011 8:53:52 PM
If we split up the Divisions by North/South, then yeah, I think we'd see a return to old ACC rivalries pre 2004 expansion and essentially just include the new Big East rivalries. Miami and possibly UMD would get the short stick, most likely, but Miami would probably welcome the natural rivalry with FSU as opposed to the old Big East rivalries they had.[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 9:04 PM. For those saying Texas fucks up geography, just look at the NFC East.
9/17/2011 8:57:52 PM
It's one thing when it's a pro team with lots of cash on hand to fly one team to Texas. It's different when it's an athletic department having to send the football team, two basketball teams, the baseball team, the soccer teams, and a host of other teams out to Austin every other year. That gets expensive after a few seasons.
9/17/2011 9:35:50 PM
thats why ESPN is going make it worth everyone's while
9/17/2011 9:56:56 PM
Do you know how happy I'd be about a South division like the one detailed above? Most of the traditional games, but no Maryland to constantly fuck us over.A DREAM.

i was confused too, but it was a great post.and dweedle is correct, the extra cost is more than made up by the increased revenue.oh and i could be wrong, but i don't think miami considers anyone from the big east to be a big deal.[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 10:11 PM. Reason : .]
