VERY GOOD! You know what's EVEN THICKER? My DSLR! Unfortunately, I didn't realize that that's a bad thing. I will get rid of it immediately. Shit man, I have lenses that are longer, thicker, & heavier than a tablet. Just because this thing is not your normal camera size doesn't mean that it's difficult to use. I'm sorry that you apparently don't have opposable thumbs but most people would have no problem holding a small notebook up and pressing a small square on it. It's just one of those weird evolution things.Look, I didn't design the damn thing and I didn't put the rotating camera on it. If you have that big a problem with it being on there, take it up with the designer. In the meantime, I'm going to realize that while you don't find much use for it, I do and a lot of other people would too. Ok pumpkin? Good. You have a good night now.

what the fuck pedantic shit are you talking about? Who said anything about the iPad taking better pictures than a camera.the point here that you are backpedaling from like a digital Usain Bolt, is whether a device like the iPad (or a cell phone) COULD have a camera-quality CCD in it, and could then take camera-quality photos and video. and the answer is that YES, they can. The reason they don't is not a technical limitation, but a market one. The cost for putting that kind of hardware in a device like this is not a consumer demand, and would have no appreciable impact on device sales, so they don't do it.so stop spewing your misinformed retarded bullshit and pick another battle.
3/17/2010 5:37:39 PM
^ please...make a list of how i've been backpedaling...my point is that it's not realistic to put one in there...for engineering reasons AS WELL AS marketing ones (i've mentioned both)but really, Noen, keep trying...we all know how you know everything about everything...i, for one, am surprised i learn to shit by myself without you there to explain how

This was your original point:

So who has pre-ordered one?
3/30/2010 3:40:11 PM
Are you supposed to receive yours on the 3rd? I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I don't feel like jumping over a hundred people @the Apple store...
3/30/2010 5:35:21 PM
ordered one for my pad, picking it up Sat, fucking around with it for a week, setting it up for him etc. Then taking it to him next weekend.Such a good son.

I was wondering what those 50,000 pre-orders were for, b/c I know no one ordered them, lol.

I never really thought much into e-books for myself but after watching the iBooks guided tour I might actually use that.I don't know what other e-book readers do in terms of functionality but i thought it was pretty neat that you can look up words in the dictionary without ever leaving the page just by highlighting them.Search for any word throughout the entire bookAlso a new feature that didn't exist in the iphone/ipod touch, you can adjust brightness inside the iBooks app without ever leaving the page. Not sure what other apps let you do this though.
3/31/2010 10:41:54 AM
will not buyyet

I still don't see how you can type on this thing without it sitting in your lap. Are you really going to lay it down flat to type (then the screen angle will be off), can you really type on this thing standing up holding it with one hand? It's just a giant phone interface. I think the one thing that could make this better is an app like Swype for the iPad
3/31/2010 2:27:00 PM
the demo of Numbers on the ipad has me really pumped for one of thesewill probably wait until june or july though after they work out all the kinks
3/31/2010 2:37:01 PM
^^not sure how much this will help but the iPad apple case lets it sit up at an incline on your lap or table top.
3/31/2010 2:52:07 PM
i predict that both the iPad and iPhone will get a rear and front facing camera, with the front facing camera being embedded behind the LCD panel.
3/31/2010 8:06:02 PM
that prediction has been made for like 3 years now
3/31/2010 8:36:16 PM
half the features. double the price. 8 times the marketing
3/31/2010 8:37:04 PM
In the other thread, someone was commenting on the need for the iPad to have a OneNote-like app... well, this seems like a good place to start... http://www.tuaw.com/2010/03/28/first-look-sketchnotes-for-ipad/
3/31/2010 8:44:14 PM
i don't see anything that impressive in that video.
3/31/2010 8:46:58 PM
3/31/2010 8:52:37 PM
i didnt say you did
3/31/2010 8:55:48 PM
i think they're on the right track, though. it needs a tremendous amount of polish, but that's the sort of thing i'd like to use... let me type most of my content, and graphically annotate only when i need to. but i'd like to see embeddable items from elsewhere... make it a living document.come to think of it, if done properly, Google Wave could be the killer app for the iPad.
3/31/2010 8:59:59 PM
lol, google wave? is that still around?
3/31/2010 9:04:58 PM
yeah... but i was just thinking, the idea of using a small, portable device like an iPad for collaboration during a meeting could be pretty useful.
3/31/2010 9:06:55 PM
Oh I agree...i was just laughing at the name brand that is Google Wave.
3/31/2010 9:09:39 PM
Except google wave isn't an App, it's a platform. And it's still completely unusable for anything real.
3/31/2010 9:10:56 PM

can someone elaborate on the 'behind the screen camera'. I've heard nothing about this before and don't know of any products that currently use it. sounds really cool though.
3/31/2010 10:45:31 PM
^ no other company is doing it, AFAIK.Few companies really push forward with industrial design like apple... it's why the iPod and iPhone have come to dominate.
