DOB says Minor is probably gonna get called up. Medlen's going to be DL'd for 15 days at least, I would think.

Anyone else leery of Farnsworth? He's looked pretty dull in both of his appearances and he still has that stupid damn smirk all the time. Do you think they've already taken the tag off? Can we still still return him?

Did it happen suddenly?

“Yeah. I think it happened the pitch before, it looked like. I said, dang, he’s hurt.”

Good win last night. Mets defense was beyond bad and Pelfrey is beyond suck now.

Farnsworth hasn't looked great in first two outings, but his velocity is there and I think he'll still be a huge piece especially to give Saito and Moylan a day off. Honestly though the thought of Moylan, Farnsworth, Venters, Saito, and Wagner in relief sounds pretty damn good. Plus O'Flaherty is back too and that is another lefty for matchups. Dunn and KK for long "relief".

Facing Lincecum tonight. Hopefully JJ pitches a no hitter.

Minor starting Monday at Houston, KK down to G-Braves to prepare for a possible return to the rotation, Cristhian Martinez back up to take Medlen's roster spot for now.

Medlen's on the 15 day DL, probably no decision on TJ surgery until then.

Fucking Phillies have forgotten how to lose now. Thanks Marlins for blowing the game last night too. Against the Braves, you pull shit out of your ass to comeback and win, but against the Phillies, you turn into the damn Cubs.

They should suspend him for doctoring the ball with his boogers.

Hey JB, Going to the Dodgers game on the 15th, Sunday 1:35pm game. Wheres the best decent seat to avoid baking in the sun all day? Usually when I've gone to games its been at night so I'm not exactly sure how the stadium sits in relation to the sun in day games. I'm not really wanting to sit in the uppers or behind homeplate upper level unless I have to. Would prefer to be lower level.

Actually looking at it on google maps shows that the 3rd base side would get sun all day. So something on the 1st base side should be ok?

Incredible. Twice in the same series the Braves made 2 errors in one inning.

Sunday afternoon game against a potential playoff opponent in the middle of a pennant chase and it's probably the most exciting series all year... and the Ted is probably 30% full.

^ The Giants are a boring team, Atlanta is a bad sports town, and it was hot as fuck on Sunday. But yeah it is dissapointing to see empty seats right behind home plate on a Sunday in a pennant race.

Nevertheless great weekend for the Braves outside of the 9th inning on Friday night. 3 out of 4 against a team that had the 2nd best NL record a week ago. It is clear that the World Series is going open in either Cincinnati, Philly, Atlanta, or St Louis. The NL West teams just do not have the bats to win a long series IMO.

Wish the Phillies would start to realize that they are missing their two best hitters and suck again.

Minor is having his ML debut tonight. Pretty good numbers. 4-1 with a 1.99 ERA and a 35:10 K to BB ratio in 5 starts.

^^^ Saw the official attendance numbers and they were ~34,000. Sure did not look that way on TV. Maybe they had a bunch of $1 upper deck seats that got sold.

Excited to see Minor pitch tonight. Braves will be counting on him next year with Medlen bascially shelved for the next 12+ months. Hopefully he can transition well. Last year Medlen was amazing at AAA and struggled at first when he got to the bigs.

Minor looks Chipper if he were 75 pounds lighter and an even bigger redneck

Decent first inning, though

It's just a partial tear, right? I haven't read anything about a decision on surgery. He's done for this year, I'm sure -- but with rehab and no surgery, he could be back for 2011.

I don't think I've ever seen a ball reach an outfielder that fast on the ground, even though he was playing in

Wow the Braves just plain sucked last night. The defense is beyond bad. Let's break down this defense that has cost the Braves at least 3 games in the past two weeks:

1. Gonzalez is at best an average SS
2. Chipper is horrible at 3B
3. Infante/Prado are both average at best defensively as 2B
4. Glaus is awful other than balls hit right at him
5. Cabrera is slow and has a girl arm and throws the ball sideways
6. Ankiel is okay overall, good arm, but below average as a CF
7. Heyward is good defensively
8. McCann is a sub-par defensive catcher who sucks at throwing out runners.

So basically you have 1 out of 8 positions where defense is not a liability. Great. Need to win the next two against the lowly Astros. And yes Farnsworth looks like shit. It is like he is not even trying.

Its amazing to me how Gonzalez can turn all these scoop to 2nd double plays and miss all these ground balls hit right at him. If I see Glaus miss another pick off throw at 1st I might go crazy. Melky just sucks. McCann also gets lazy back there and tries to stab at pitches when he should be getting down and blocking that shit. The other guys I think you're selling a bit short.

I thought Minor looked good last night. All those GD bloops were annoying...and yes, Farnsworth looks like shit.

^^ No one said that. But Chipper is pretty horrible at 3B. He has zero range and an average arm. Maybe I am wrong and the stats prove otherwise, but IMO Chipper is a liability at 3B. Maybe Ernie can pull up some stats.

^ Who else would you argue is above average defender of the Braves typical starting 8 besides Heyward?

I'd say Prado is well above average and Ankiel from what i've seen is better than "below average"

plus Chipper fielding average is the same or like .001 better than the league fielding average per his career

Dude above is right about McCann getting lazy. I'd say he's above average when he's not losing pop-ups in the lights and making bad stabs at balls in the dirt. He usually makes good throws to second -- I put a lot of the steals on the Braves pitchers not holding runners.

I don't get the hate for Old Chipper. His range is down, but his arm is still great and he's usually in good position. I'd also say Prado is a slightly above average second baseman. I don't get Gonzalez at all -- great some nights, shit the next.

Melky is the worst center fielder of all time. The outfield as a whole sucks, even Heyward is usually taking weird routes to balls.

the man has been in the league 17 years and is still an average 3rd baseman. I don't think Chipper getting to Julio Franco age and putting up A-Rod numbers was ever in the realm of possibility.

I, too, would love the Braves to be the best pitching, batting, and fielding team in the league.
