After watching ATT-TV at Golovko's, I've hence stopped lusting for it entirely.

I cannot get uverse yet to try this in my area (yet...hopefully at some point)... so does anyone with uverse use a Slingbox(es)? I'd love to know how HD works out. I know folks online swap for sports (like between UK and the US)...Or any comments on its upload speed probably works for me. Doesn't have to be slinging media. All I care about is the internet experience. Don't have time to watch TV anyway.I have HD footage I want to stream to the grandparents so they can see grandkids in action from various gatherings. The TWC cap isn't working out. SD is working fine but the hardware on each end is nicer than that so was looking for options.

as much as I love the Uverse service, the billing department is full of fucking shit.I posted before about how I was receiving a promotion (supposed to be for 1 year) but then it quit showing up on the bill. I called a few times and was told the promotion never existed, that I never received credit for a promotion (which I did), the rep said that I was lying or that AT&T lied, and basically that AT&T didn't care to keep me as a customer. I asked that they continue to give me the promotion or give me a monthly credit equal to the same amount. I was told, that in no way shape or form could they credit my bill (even if there was a promotion that they couldn't credit it). After the BBB complaint, someone from higher up in AT&T's billing dept called and reversed everything the other billing reps said (said the promotion was real, that I was supposed to have it, and didn't know why I stopped receiving it). In the end, this rep said she would start the promotion over, starting on the next billing cycle for one year.Well, this month's bill never came, so I called this morning. I asked for the total amount on this month's bill... it doesn't include the promotion, but it's ok, maybe it will be the next billing cycle since I talked to the other rep near the printing/send date of this month's bills. Anyway, I ask the rep this morning to look into my story and see if the promotion is in place/set to being next cycle. She looks it up and says yes, you have the promotion, LET ME CREDIT YOUR ACCOUNT FOR IT.holy fuck.

U-Verse got better across the board ratings for tv and internet service than TWC.... (consumer reports)

Thanks synapse and xvang...looks good at 640KB/s....I just need to keeping waiting. My TWC up is about 40-50KB/s (323kbps) which seems the norm. Turbo I think can only get you to 512kbps.[Edited on January 30, 2010 at 2:26 PM. Reason : .]

So one of the reasons why I chose AT&T has now been eliminated. I got a postcard in the mail today saying that 'due to matters out of their control' Setanta sports will no longer be available Feb. 28th.
2/2/2010 12:16:53 AM
1 of the 10 reasons, or 1 of the 3?
2/2/2010 12:35:20 AM
1) The internet service2) Setanta Sports3) its IPTV and has a better HD line up4) I can network my xbox through the STB downstairs and stream HD without spending $100 to get the N adapter for the xbox. (Although i discovered this AFTER I got AT&T so it doesn't count as a reason why I got U-Verse)So I guess I'm down to 3 reasons. Although I would probably always keep the internet unless something faster comes out with someone else. The only TV i go out of my way to watch was Setanta Sports, everything else is DVR'd
2/2/2010 12:43:18 AM
^really two reasons now as I thought I saw that fox is getting rid of setana and moving that programing to their other channels.I'm just jealous that I can't get it where I live!

I got U-Verse for the internet connection and I continue to be extremely happy with it. So far I haven't needed more than the 6Mbit down; and although it would be nice for big downloads, it's not a big deal to wait an additional few minutes. Apart from the pure stability of the connection, the main thing I like is the 1Mbit up as it makes backups and photo uploading go much faster ... also controlling my home computer from elsewhere is much smoother now too.As far as the TV goes, I like the idea of IPTV but I haven't seen it in action. I don't watch enough TV to warrant paying for the TV package and anything I want to watch is available OTA, on Hulu, or on Netflix--all of viewable from my TV.[Edited on February 2, 2010 at 6:01 AM. ok so how can i get two tvs to show the Superbowl without them being out of sync...cause from what the installed said there's a few second difference between the DVR and set top box.only thoughts so far...1) split the signal coming out of the DVR (hdmi, component, whatever is possible)2) Get a second setop box and put it in place of the DVR for the gameWill either of those work? I'd prefer 1 if possible

Is anyone having issues with their RG retraining only at specific times? If my connection drops out, its always after 9pm. UVerse is awesome when it's working and the tech reps. are very helpful, but I'm about to give up. :|

Getting the 18MB service installed Wednesday. I have one question for anyone with U-Verse Internet: I've heard that because of the error reducing "interleaved" mode a lot of people have really high latency with U-Verse. Something like double the ping over standard DSL/Cable. Is it really that bad? I know U-Verse doesn't support (or at least AT&T won't let you use) Fastpath.
2/8/2010 1:00:07 PM
^ Yes, lag times will be more pronounced. I noticed that after switching from Roadrunner (7Mbs) to Uverse (12Mbs) ... I had considerably higher pings with online gaming. With TWC, while playing Left 4 Dead, I could get pings around 100 or less. Now, my average pings are 150+Still playable and tolerable, but from a geek's perspective, it leaves much to be desired. If you're a gamer, I say stick with TWC Roadrunner.Of course, I can now download large torrents in half the time So, there are pros and cons.[Edited on February 8, 2010 at 2:27 PM. Reason : imo]
2/8/2010 2:21:37 PM
I have none of the ping issues. The TF2 server I play on was pinging about 50 ms on TWC and now it's about 60 ms. Nothing noticeable to me at all.

more frustration, the first house on the street has it available for them....nada for me 10 houses down.
2/9/2010 11:33:11 AM
They told me I couldn't get service when my next door neighbor had it. I just kept calling them and finally they got someone to come over who knew what was going on to fix the problem and give me service. It could be that you are too far from the VRAD right now or it could be you have an older line or bad splice that needs to be replaced. If you are that close and they know you want it they might make something happen if you bug them a few times.
2/9/2010 3:39:39 PM
thanks Z. Random but I think you work with my neighbor who was trying to figure out the same problem.
2/9/2010 11:00:33 PM
I wish they could figure out what's killing my connection only at night. As soon as the sun goes down, my connection is usable for about 15 minutes, then it drops, tries to reconnect for 10 minutes, repeat. I'm figuring its something outside, but is there anything that's actually in my apt. that could cause interference at night?I'm almost ready to give up.

Are those the speeds they are advertising? I am getting 11.75 down and 1.45 up with the new package. I thought it was advertised as 12/1.5 and 6/1.I just checked my account today and not only did I get those other discounts, they threw in HBO for free for 3 months, $10 off U300 for 6 months, and some other combo that knocks $27 off. My bill this month is $85 for U300 w/ HBO and 12 MB Internet.
2/12/2010 4:29:45 PM
We've just about had it with our shifty Internet. Paying for 12 and get like less than 2mbps consistently
2/12/2010 6:59:48 PM
Just upgraded to the $12 for an extra $2 /month plus getting 20 cash back
2/12/2010 7:20:44 PM
Hmm, anyone know if you have to do the reward claim thing for the $20 back? It's not showing up in my account on there.
