no way in hell we're "settling" for brown at the point. I'm sure we feel confident with Brown at the point and getting wall would just be icing on the cake for one year. Thats the reason wall isn't a make or break recruit. We're fine if brown comes here. He actually may be the make or break recruit for us.
7/13/2008 11:46:30 PM
Anybody got specific numbers from harrow's games at the peach jam?
7/13/2008 11:48:33 PM
^^From everything I've seen, Brown is a 2G. It'd be dumb to start him at the point considering that *if he comes* Degand and Javi will still be here, with Harrow coming in the next. I agree though that Wall isn't a make-or-break player. I'm seriously starting to wonder if he's worth all of this, considering he's almost surely going to be a one and doner. Don't get me wrong, I'll take the guy, but I'm sure not going to be heartbroken if he goes elsewhere.
7/13/2008 11:53:20 PM
Harrow supposedly played really well at the Peach Jam
7/13/2008 11:57:39 PM
We really don't need a PG in the 09 class, so if we get Wall it'd be icing on the cake.Should we land Wall though, we'd also be taking in Wood, Brown, and likely a big man(Favors/Kelly/Howell/?). Wonder how we're gonna make that fit.
7/14/2008 1:29:14 AM
Someone on PP says that Harrow had 20+ in each of his games. I don't have a link to confirm anything.
7/14/2008 1:41:34 AM
Harrow had 28 in his first game(which they won), 16 in the second game(which they lost)
7/14/2008 2:05:07 AM
Didn't Harrow have a double-double in one game?
7/14/2008 8:07:47 AM
Some more free videos of Harrowhttp://media.scout.com/Media/Video/56/566098.wmvhttp://media.scout.com/Media/Video/56/566095.wmvhttp://media.scout.com/Media/Video/56/566094.wmv

^Is he just playing against crapy competition or is he really that awesome?
7/14/2008 7:24:08 PM
^^Would like to see him go to his left a little bit more. I know its highlights and he didn't really have to but it would be nice to see somewhere.
7/14/2008 7:28:21 PM
well it's AAU ball, so the competition probably isn't that badhe'll probably be a 4 or 5 star prospect by his SR year
7/14/2008 7:29:38 PM
Word flying around is that we may have offered Richard Howell. Howell goes to JJ's old HS Wheeler. Both Scout and Rivals list Howell as a 4* prospect with Rivals ranking him as the 18th best PF and #59 overall, and Scout ranking him as the 27th best PF and #74 overall.Power forwardMarietta (GA) WheelerAAU: Worldwide RenegadesHt: 6-foot-7 (although some more recent measurements list him at 6-8)Wt: 215 lbsSchools Interested (known offers in italics)AuburnMichigan StateMarquetteGeorgiaOregonTexasUSCTennesseeN.C. Someone email that to Favors!
7/15/2008 10:01:42 AM
Howell would be a nice pick-up. Wheeler had some crazy athletic wing players this past year.
7/15/2008 3:15:33 PM
Yeah, I think it was Howell, who had the nuts in the face dunk (from just inside the foul line) over John Wall when Word of God played Wheeler in Reynolds this past year. That dunk was sick.
7/15/2008 3:48:36 PM
7/15/2008 4:56:23 PM
^^ Pretty sure that was Dequan Jones or something like that. He's going to Miami.
7/15/2008 5:22:03 PM
Here's the Dequan Jones dunk, but I thought I remember hearing that Richard Howell had a monster dunk in Reynolds during that game as well.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqR0Hy1c6wo

http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=827145Wood, SYF win Best of Midwest tourney titleScott Wood is getting used to playing in title games. The North Carolina State senior commit from Marion (Ind.) High helped lead the SYF Players to a 68-67 victory over Spiece Indy Elite on Tuesday in the Best of the Midwest championship game in Indianapolis, Ind.Wood scored 15 points in the title game and was named co-MVP with senior point guard teammate John Taylor, who attends Chicago North Lawndale High."We played really well," Wood said. "There was a lot of good Indiana kind of basketball with good shooters and all that stuff in this tournament. Everyone knew me. It was a good tournament for our team and we are starting to play together and trust each other."SYF went 6-1 to advance to the title game against Spiece Indy Elite, which features 2010 Ohio State commit DeShaun Thomas, who is ranked No. 7 nationally by Rivals.com."I wouldn't say it was one of my better tournaments as far as scoring, because I've had bigger scoring tournaments, but I think I made big steps as far as penetrating and showing other parts of my game," Wood said. "People have been guarding me different ways, some different things like a box and one defense or trying to zone us. It's really helped my game and penetration."Wood said he is aware he's a marked man as opposing players are cognizant that he'll be playing in the ACC in the future."Guys were talking trash and doing all that stuff, but that's just motivation," Wood said. "One kid called me an NC State wannabe the other day. I don't know how I can be a wannabe if I'm going there, so that was kind of funny."Wood and SYF previously won the GBOA North tournament, and Wood played for the state title during the high school season.NC State assistant coach Monte Towe was in attendance for five of Wood's games."He couldn't come for the championship game because he had to go back to Raleigh today, but he saw every game but two," Wood said.Wood will be playing in the Super Showcase in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., at the Disney World complex, followed by AAU Nationals at the same site. He'll play with SYF for the last time at the GBOA National Tournament in Chicago on Aug. 15-17.Wood is also keeping tabs on how the other NC State recruits are doing and watched recent 2010 point guard commit Ryan Harrow play in Milwaukee in-between some of his games."I got to know Ryan and he's a really nice guy," Wood said. "He looks like a pretty good shooter and he's real good with the ball. He handles the ball real well."

hey guys, i just got back from the West coast and noticed that Ryan Kelly is on the radar for basketball. I know him personally since my cousin plays bball at Ravenscroft...He is a great kid AND he seems to like us (NCSU)
7/16/2008 12:04:21 PM
i had given up on ryan kelly. he'd be a great get, though.
7/16/2008 12:05:50 PM
^^ You need to get in that kid's ear, let him know he needs to play for the red and white.
7/16/2008 12:14:03 PM
We're in better standing with Kelly than most think from what I've heard.
7/16/2008 4:02:58 PM
^yesI saw him at North Hills about 2 months ago and we talked a little bit...i was like "you know you want to go to State" (in a teasing way) and he said that he was seriously liking everything here right now plus its close to home.Later on, my cousin (who is close friends with Kelly) told me that Kelly called me a pimp because I was hanging with 4 chicks from state that night my cousin told him "na, he's just gay"
7/16/2008 6:57:14 PM
kelly's gf goes to state (or is going to go to state, not sure which). that may be a factor, though i don't know how big of one. especially since he got offered by unc. i'm sure that's probably close enough for him, but whatever. i'd love to get him here. he'd be a great 4 year guy i think.
7/16/2008 7:46:37 PM
last i heard his girlfriend was bill cowher's daughter.the kid's a baller.
7/16/2008 7:52:46 PM
I'd love to see Kelly, Brown, and Wood as our class in 09. That'd be a very solid core to build on. 2010 seems to be shaping out nicely too. Anyone have anything new?
7/16/2008 8:02:50 PM
^^yeah that's right. i had forgotten that part. lol
7/16/2008 8:03:25 PM
yeah i saw Kelly spitting some game at cowher's daughter when cowher was at one of our games last seasonmaybe we should get one of Fowler's daughters to date Favors or Wall

new video from last weekends tournament of Ryan Harrow is ridiculous. He's making kids look stupid.
7/17/2008 7:52:30 AM
sorry to false alarm bttt this. Do any of you find yourself lately only coming to sports talk to find out recruiting updates? Other than that I could not currently give a shit about the rest. Fuck Tennessee, the Mets, Tour De France, and The U. Give me recruiting news!

looks like this kid might be walking on...this is the kind of guy you want on your team
7/20/2008 8:23:42 AM
Sounds like he has a lot of heart...I hope it works out for him and us.
7/20/2008 8:41:47 AM

7/23/2008 3:20:24 PM
rumor out on the web (PP) that john wall might commit to Ok State in the next month...and apparently after one of the Clifton brothers (his handlers/coaches) starts his job in the Ok St. athletics dept. word is oklahoma state and baylor (wtf? red flag anyone?) were the most recent high bidders, and that's why they're in his top 5 in recent interviews.if true, that's pretty damn shady. i know it happens, but OSU was never even in the picture till recently. it'd suck to lose him in a bidding war rather than where he and his mom want him to go.
7/24/2008 4:19:38 PM
It happens. Danny Manning is famous example. It's part of the recruiting game, albeit a manipulative and deceitful one.
7/24/2008 5:19:26 PM
Hire Clifton. Fuck it.[Edited on July 24, 2008 at 5:29 PM. Reason : why not]
7/24/2008 5:25:29 PM
we've done it before, difference is the coaches we hired actually had plenty of coaching experience and as seen below exceeded mediocrity at those levels before getting hired, whereas Clifton has jack shit for coaching anything experience. Hell, Phelps was one of our best recruiters/coaches under Herb and is still doing well.
7/24/2008 5:27:47 PM
Farther up this page I reported that it was rumored that we had offered Richard Howell. Well PP confirmed this on the front page. His mom has recently moved to Raleigh so that's got to help some. Howell would be an outstanding get. Also an update on Lorenzo Brown
