this was offered to me by my girlfriends mom. I would do it with no hesitations, hell, she would love it, it was her grandmothers.the only problem is the 3 stones are in a cut that she doesnt like at all, so i will be buying one.ain't no shame in that game.

I really like the look of this ring but I can't really find any less expensive versions of it anywhere
4/25/2009 11:17:29 AM
It can be made
4/26/2009 5:24:49 PM
^^ that's the Tiffany's version... but like ^ said, I've seen custom made versions that are much cheaper isn't it great?
4/26/2009 6:35:49 PM
^, QTPie is who one would PM to have a ring custom made She's the one zorthage and I went to for my engagement ring, and our wedding bands.
4/26/2009 6:51:50 PM
I can't decide if I want mine to be just diamonds, or diamond and sapphire (or garnet). I kind of like the idea of the colored gem stone, but I don't know if I would get tired of having one color, instead of a diamond that just goes with anything.http://www.topazery.com/antique-jewelry-item-rg1747e.htmhttp://www.topazery.com/antique-jewelry-item-rg1746d.htmI think those are both pretty and the kind of design that I like.
4/26/2009 9:56:02 PM
went shopping today. The GF tried on about 20 rings or so, and we looked at a bunch of seperate diamonds as well.
4/26/2009 10:15:41 PM
Finally! A low quality pic of my engagement ring and wrap.
4/27/2009 3:25:48 PM
^Gorgeous. I also wish I could get my fingernails to grow that long.
4/27/2009 3:28:22 PM
Thanks! I lurve it! haha Yeah they're looking pretty good right now. I swear I could be one of those Guiness World Record People re: fingernails if I felt like it.
4/27/2009 3:37:02 PM
^^^^ For engagement rings? You're not picking one out for her as a surprise?
4/27/2009 7:26:15 PM
this is the one my gf likes, but tacori rings are friggin $texas$, not even including diamonds
4/27/2009 8:10:38 PM
^^ Some guys know better than to surprise their girl. Girl's the one wearing the ring for the duration of the relationship-- if she wants some say in it, better let her. In some relationships the fact of eventual matrimony is so sure it's taken for granted and surprise isn't really a factor.
4/27/2009 9:43:35 PM
Yep. I'm not proposing till I have a ring. I'm not going to pick a ring that she is supposed to like by myself. We go shopping together, and now that I have it narrowed down to just a few options, I can decide how to procede. We have been together for a very long time, and this is a natural progression that we have discussed, not a surprise engagement.
4/27/2009 9:49:36 PM
^ Well I meant more of surprise her with a ring you picked out, not really surprise engagement. But I guess that makes sense... I think I'm just the type where I wouldn't want to see it before I received it, but different strokes for different folks I guess
4/27/2009 9:55:52 PM
Boyfriend and I have been ring shopping a few times - every time, I found one ring that I thought was pretty, but never amazing. The last time, I found a ring that was seriously perfect. I have never seen a more beautiful ring in my life (and it came in way under budget - love you b!). When he proposes, it will be with that ring - and I will be thrilled. I don't care that I already know what it's going to look like. I am also a control freak, and am very particular with my jewelry. I understand that this scenario does not apply to everyone.
4/27/2009 10:48:04 PM
I picked out my wife's ring by myself and she loves it.
4/27/2009 11:10:12 PM
I don't know shit about jewelry and my girlfriend doesn't wear much so I don't really have much to work onI think that's why she'll like it even more that I pick it out without her, because I put way too much thought into purchases anyways, she'll know this took me months to decide on something
4/28/2009 7:55:02 AM
Here is what I think we decided on. The stone isn't set into the band yet, as there is still one more option, though not very likely. And just for shits and giggles: A 2.53 carat rock set on top:[Edited on April 29, 2009 at 7:20 PM. Reason : image tags]
4/29/2009 7:19:11 PM
OmgThat's GORGEOUS. Send-it-to-my-mom gorgeous!I'm actually a little jealous
4/29/2009 7:55:34 PM
yeah. that ring is bomb.super bomb.even without the 2+ carat
4/29/2009 8:06:21 PM
4/29/2009 8:08:00 PM
The price tag is not so super bomb. This is a lesson in why guys should bring her along, and a lesson as to why guys shouldn't bring her along.
4/29/2009 8:10:26 PM
Nice!

I just wondered what a car looked like when you shrunk it down. That giant rock put the rink near 15k. Mostly the rock though.I do agree that it looks rediculous. I had them put that rock on top to send my mom the picture. I like it much better with the diamond I picked out, that is sitting on the setting in the first pictures. I'm a huge fan of the band myself as well. It was between a fancier band with a little less stone, or a very simple/plain band with a little more stone. What won was a fancier band with a little more stone.Oh well, I'm very happy with it and so is she. CrazyCurls
4/29/2009 9:47:44 PM
That band is beautiful! Nice work picking it out! The first stone will complete it well.We ended up going together after the proposal... but in the end, the custom ring was essentially what he was planning to have done-- just a little wider band. Mine is very simple, yet I doubt anyone else has one similar (and most people wouldn't appreciate it). We picked out the lowest possible setting set as low into the band as it could possibly go-- that way I can still wear my motorcycle gloves with it on. Maybe I'll share it w/ tww someday Also- someday I'll prove all the jewelers wrong and get a band with artistic pinstriping along the band [Edited on April 29, 2009 at 11:53 PM. Reason : ]

omg diamonds...
4/30/2009 9:48:11 AM
^^^ You did a really good job!!! and it's unique, which is nice
4/30/2009 10:01:56 AM
69, that ring you have up there is soooo pretty... I love the engraving design on the side AND I am a fan of the cathedral style placement...
4/30/2009 10:55:27 AM
i don't get why girls are so fascinated with diamonds. the only other groups i know that are so fascinated by shiny objects are crows and the feeble-minded.that being said the ring above is gorgeous but I cannot imagine spending 15k on a ring. I read some place that the average is about 3k, and I imagine when the time comes I will spend about 6k. it should be about the thought, not the price tag, in my eyes.I do believe women get attached to the price tag because they are in constant competition with one another and the bigger/better their ring the better they feel. That being said, I will not bring my gf along. I hope to choose something she likes. I pay close attention to the rings others have received and her impressions of them, so by this point I sort of know what she likes, sort of.

I've always heard "2 months salary".... glad I'm dating an engineer I kid, I kid.....
4/30/2009 12:00:54 PM
pssshiiiiiiiit i told my husband there's no way i was letting him spend that much on my rings. he's also an engineer
4/30/2009 12:02:02 PM
^4 Thats a fair question and one I expected while I was typing it. I stated a 6k because I feel it would be an appropriate budget. I could purchase something for much less, i'm sure, but 6k is what i'm willing to spend because it will not adversely impact any goals. Buying one in general address the 'about the thought' point and setting a budget ensure one isn't distracted from this and focuses instead on a battle of appearance.^^you are, but you aren't. anyways 2 months salary is manufactured by the industry. engagement rings have traditionally been far less a % of income than that.[Edited on April 30, 2009 at 12:06 PM. I think for the most part ^ thats all girls want in a ring. Those that want something big and expensive will usually want to be the stay at home wives that go to get all sorts of cosmetic surgery done to "stay young" I prefer something with meaning and good quality and not so much the size. And if it is something I am going to wear for the rest of my life, possibly something that suits my style. I would be upset if I was ever presented with a ring costing more than 3K. I saw a ring once I liked that was about 2K I think if even that.
4/30/2009 12:23:43 PM
Tiffany Lucida FTW

4/30/2009 1:22:06 PM
I would be so worried about the diamond falling out of that setting.
4/30/2009 1:26:21 PM
have you ever tried to bend Titanium?
4/30/2009 1:28:48 PM
it's pretty snug. i knocked it really really hard on the corner of a shelf in crate & barrel one day and it moved it a tiny bit. after some pushing it moved back. i used to be afraid at first but i realized how strong it is and i dont worry about it now.i am more careful not to slam my hands into things, as if the pain wasn't enough of a deterrent.
4/30/2009 1:59:26 PM
ladies,solitaire or with side stones?
4/30/2009 4:53:10 PM
solitaire. side stones look very old lady-y to me.
4/30/2009 4:58:16 PM
im a fan of the antique stylesolitaire with embellished band. but that one posted is still bomb. i'd like one without all the stones but embellishments and designs that attracted the eye in the same waya traditional solitaire isn't my style
