On Supermax tonight, The inmates hold a DL comp...one guy missed 675 but it was questionable. Some strong fuckers in prison.

Damn, I haven't seen the Squat part. Couple of 500+ squats. Bench is coming up soon
7/27/2006 9:25:35 PM
people with bigger deadlift numbers than squat numbers?
7/27/2006 10:11:11 PM
They didn't show the DL today, I guess thats another episode. Some of those lifts were red light city but oh well, your is prison.Yea, thats not to uncommon. A friend of mine Pulls 600 but only SQ 415. [Edited on July 27, 2006 at 10:17 PM. Reason : gsfgfs]
7/27/2006 10:17:28 PM
my pull is bigger than my squat, but at most meets you see it the other way around.
7/27/2006 10:20:33 PM
isn't deadlift usually bigger than squat?
7/27/2006 10:25:40 PM
Nope, Dave Tates best numbers are a 935 Squat and 740 DL and Jim Wendler pulled 700 and SQ'd 1000.
7/27/2006 10:39:02 PM
most powerlifters have slightly larger squat numbers. that might have something to do with squat being the first lift in a competition and the deadlift being the last lift, but if you look at the results of previous nationals, you'll see consistently larger squat numbers. you'll also see more failed deadlift numbers. I don't know if that's from the lifter trying to chase a total or from the lifter thinking he can hit a bigger number that he's hit in practice.
7/27/2006 10:39:12 PM
man fitness walking is pretty easy in that you have to try way...some people half ass it and i'm like are you serious?
7/27/2006 10:41:05 PM
what channel is the prison lifting on?
7/27/2006 10:43:12 PM
Its over, it was just a couple of segments on the SuperMax show
7/27/2006 10:45:32 PM
7/27/2006 11:32:22 PM
I don't know about the numbers he posted, but there are a ton of lifters who can break the 1000 pound squat mark lifting raw. I've seen videos of Dr. Hetfield squatting over 1000lbs raw 20 years ago at a 242lb weight class.
7/28/2006 1:14:20 PM
I should leave work early and go buy about 20 pounds of whey protein and powdered milk.
7/28/2006 2:00:10 PM
i need to get back into my routine and soon!
7/28/2006 2:06:12 PM
I'm getting ready to spend the next week doing hotel room cardio. Construction season sucks sometimes.
7/28/2006 2:07:28 PM
i just havent had any friggon time! should slow down a bit after this weekend... i am hopingthen i can start hitting the heavy and speed bags again finally!
7/28/2006 2:41:46 PM
do you have your own bags, or have you started going to another gym?
7/28/2006 2:47:00 PM
my own, have had them for awhile but the setup sucked as the heavy bag was too low and the speed bag was in a tight spot so you couldnt get enough room to use iti now have the heavy bag hung outside and it is a perfect height and the speed bag is much more accessible
7/28/2006 2:53:26 PM
ive been on a cardio kick lately since i damaged my fucking wrist
7/28/2006 2:56:23 PM
^come hit the heavy bag, that will help fix your problem
7/28/2006 2:57:32 PM
LOLive been wanting to get one
7/28/2006 2:58:55 PM
i have a nice place to hang it, so it works out, though it is outside under my deck... gets hot as a MF hitting it right now, be intresting to be using it when it gets closer to winteri havent been using it for a coulpe months now so it will take some time getting back into it, but i need to find someone to work out with a couple times a week, pretty easy to get home from an hour and half workout at the gym and hit the bag for a couple minutes and want to go inside and lay down!

7/31/2006 10:44:47 PM
My bench is up to 305lbs.....but took me 3 years to get there.
7/31/2006 11:01:59 PM
at what body weight?
7/31/2006 11:02:51 PM
currently at 275lbs.
7/31/2006 11:04:18 PM
my bench has been getting stagnant lately, but at least my deadlift is progresssing.
7/31/2006 11:07:50 PM
i dont know my maxes because i dont believe in maxing out
7/31/2006 11:07:51 PM
you throw shotput and you don't max out? I'm shocked by that. nothing makes you're neural paths develop better than triples and singles at close to maximal effort.
7/31/2006 11:09:43 PM
nah theres no reason to max doing most any sport at all other than olympic liftingthe lowest reps ill go is 5, otherwise i dont feel like i am bettering myself for anythingI havent maxed out since my senior year of HS, i mean yea ill finish a workout and my homie'll be like"hey man see if u can do this" and either i can or i cant and thats that[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 11:13 PM. 7/31/2006 11:12:07 PM
if I were training for what you do, I would alternate high rep and low rep workouts and hit singles and triples on the low volume days. throwing shot and hammer for 3 attempts sounds identical to making 3 attempts for olympic lifting and powerlifting, so why not train similar to them?
7/31/2006 11:15:21 PM
nigga i always get SIX attemptsi make finals son, the toughest thing to do during a meet is keep up the intensity between trials and finals, there are often flights in between or the meet coordinators drag ass[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 11:17 PM. Reason : j]
7/31/2006 11:16:46 PM
six attempts sounds similar to 3 at squat and 3 at deadlift separated by an hour. very similar muscle groups used in both.
7/31/2006 11:18:45 PM
I agree, you are putting the ball with one maximal effort, why not train that way.
7/31/2006 11:19:12 PM
muscular conditioning, and techniqueeither way, how much i lift in a weightroom doesnt matter in very many sports
7/31/2006 11:23:06 PM
what do you normally rep on the bench, bighitsunday
7/31/2006 11:23:54 PM
maximal effort lifting develops your neural network, which is more important for ultimate strength. just look at the difference in strength of pro bodybuilders and powerlifters/olympic lifters at the national and international level and you'll realize that there is a lot more to strength than just muscle.
7/31/2006 11:25:33 PM
right now im at 300 x4, 300 x 4, 280 x 6, 280 x 6, 260 x 8, 260 x 6i tried to do 315 afterwards and failed[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 11:25 PM. Reason : f]

thats pretty good how much do you weigh
7/31/2006 11:26:02 PM
242i just started that workout about 2 weeks ago, before i was doin 5x5x5 but my coach made me do what mitch was doin[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 11:27 PM. Reason : g]
7/31/2006 11:26:25 PM
5x5 is a good program, if nothing else other than it forces you to change the weights you use.
7/31/2006 11:28:37 PM
thats a damn good body weight / bench ratio
7/31/2006 11:28:52 PM
as in 2 sets 5? u think the third set is counter productive?
7/31/2006 11:30:28 PM
no, 5x5 is a five sets of five protocol using the same weight for all 5 sets, after plenty of light warmup sets. read up on it. other people run variations of it with 3x5, 5x3, and 3x3. I've used the 3x3 protocol for my deadlift before with great results.
7/31/2006 11:32:52 PM
o ok well i meant i did 3 sets of five beforeall these numbers and shiteverything i do heavy is 3 sets of five, when im going lighter its 3 sets of 10the problem is finding the weights i need to be at, its all guess work[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 11:35 PM. Reason : f]
