Unless I'm misunderstanding something, LTE != CDMA right? Meaning if they are working on a CDMA phone, that's for Verizon's current 3G network right?

It could technically have cdma and lte radios which is probably how Verizon's initial batch of LTE capable phones will be but nothing has been mentioned about it being dual mode.

Correct, but I'm assuming it will be LTE & CDMA... they aren't going to wait until 2013 to roll out LTE only phones and certainly aren't going to sit on CDMA until 2013.

The new jailbreak is scheduled to be released on 10/10/10 at 10:10:10 am GMT. It will work on iOS 4.1 on all A4 powered devices (iPad, iPhone4, iPt4, & Apple TV)

Should be nice to finally get some use out of my Apple TV now. All I've used it for so far is watching half of a movie on netflix and some Minecraft videos on Youtube.

Was at the Apple store today and I checked out the new Apple TV. Man is the quality SHITTTYYYYY. It can't be much better than 2-3mbit 720p. They had it hooked up to a nice 37" and it was all pixelated. I lol'd.

just thought it was funny that apple is advertising their retina display in their commercials, citing the "tunes" will "look more beautiful".

reminds me of using youtube for a music player and high resolution videos (even where the video portion is just a still photo) sound better. dat 720p sound!

in the commercial "tune" is in a list of things that look better on the retina display, and yes the album art looks much better. I'm a fan of album art. Maybe that's not what they meant. That's how I took it. Kinda phrased weird though.

I've been considering upgrading my 3G to a 4, but kinda hesitant still.

I've had this thing for 2 years with no case, only 2 serious scratches though. How is the glass holding up on your iphone 4s? Anyone going caseless?

I haven't used a screen protector on mine and I have one minor scratch but it's only noticeable if you clean the screen then hold it up to the light. I'm sure you could scratch the screen to hell and you wouldn't be able to tell unless the screen was off and held up to the light.

Man, there is some serious nerdrage drama going on in the last 24 hours with the jailbreak scene. Bunch of bitchy little girls.

Short version: chronicdev announces they are going to release their jailbreak on 10/10/10 @ 10:10:10am. Then geohot comes out of a 10 month "retirement"/radio silence to announce and then subsequently release his new jailbreak about an hour ago. The "problem" is that it uses a different exploit than the one chronicdev is using and also has "borrowed" code from comex who was helping chronicdev. Long story short(er), chronicdev is now going to postpone their jailbreak until they can code up geohot's exploit to avoid burning two exploits in one firmware cycle. Everyone on twitter is beyond pissed off. It's funny to watch.

This also means the Apple TV jailbreak will be delayed, which is a minor annoyance to me, but whatever.

At the moment, probably not much. They have said that 1080p output is possible with the hardware, so that's probably the most obvious quick hack we'll see. Hopefully down the road something like an xbmc port won't be out of the question.

I remember reading that the exploit the chronic dev team was planning on using in the greenpoison jailbreak was supposedly unpatchable without a hardware revision, so why are they even worrying about burning multiple exploits on a single firmware if the exploit is unpatchable?

^^Sure, anybody that jailbreaks now is jailbroken for life. That goes for greenpoison and limera1n. But the millions of people that buy an iPhone/iPad/iPod/Apple TV next month after 4.1.1 or 4.2 is released will be screwed unless another hole is found. Having an exploit in your back pocket will be huge. It's all just one big cat and mouse game, and not burning both exploits now will mean that the mice will get to play at least one more round with the cat.

Well the worst that could happen is that I end up with a buggy jailbreak that aggravates the hell out of me and I have to spend time downgrading back to 4.0.1, rejailbreaking, and restoring all my apps and tweaks only to be right back where I am right now, I'd rather not deal with all that if I can avoid it just by waiting a few days

I suppose there's a first for everything, but I've never heard of any bugs being released with a jailbreak that weren't simple fixes that were quickly taken care of. When the jbm.com jailbreak came out there was a permissions error bug that disabled facetime and SMS, but that was fixed within hours. I read something about an alarm clock bug with limera1n, but I know it's been fixed. I think there's been like 3 versions of limera1n out so far with various optimizations and bug fixes, so it should be good to go. Personally I'm gonna wait until Pwnagetool comes out cause I don't want to bother with the tinyumbrella method of upgrading to keep my baseband.

That method only works with the iPhone4. Right now there's no way to go to JB 4.1 on the 3GS and keep the older baseband. So if you care about a current or future unlock (will help resale value) then wait for Pwnagetool. Or if you don't care about an unlock, then go ahead and upgrade to 4.1 and use limera1n.

^I downloaded the app, I'm a frequent B&H customer so aside from providing some feedback the app is of at least some interest to me.

The first thing that caught my eye, and maybe you can explain it for me because I have the same pet peeve with lots of other apps, is why would any new app coming out these days not bother to include a high res icon? When you're designing an icon it seems like a pretty trivial task to just include a high res version of it with your app so why do so many apps, like yours, not do it?

^^^^ I agree completely. We actually included a high res icon, and it is high res on my ip4 but for some reason the downloaded version from the appstore is wonking it up and its low res. We tried to include as much @2x shit as possible with the notable exception of some of the tab bar icons. We have since updated it all to 2x and should be submitting a update in the next two weeks or so. This app was approved by apple in mid-late Sep so we have been making minor changes for close to 3 weeks, B&H for whatever reason(Jewish Hoilidays) decided not to release it until Monday. Thanks for the feedback.

If anyone enjoys puzzle games, you should definitely try out Trainyard. It's really fun and challenging without being retardedly hard. My only complaint was going to be how short it was and the fact that right when the difficulty ramps up to pretty tough it ends, but it turns out that when you beat the game there are 50 or so bonus missions that are all right there at that same difficulty level of the ending levels. It's totally worth checking out if you like puzzlers.

All are pretty sweet, highly recommend Cut the Rope. I hope they put out new levels soon because I played it non-stop basically until I beat it.

Ok I'm trying to restore my iPhone that's in recovery mode and it's getting stuck 3/4ths of the way every single time. It goes just fine until 3/4ths of the way and then gets stuck. I've let it sit for at least 20 minutes on two occasions and it just sits there.

Nevermind I got it working, I had to delete a few itunes related mobile device files and reinstall itunes then it restored fine. I really don't know why it was such an ordeal though.

Thanks for the heads up on Trainyard. I really enjoyed it. I just finished the free version; some of them were pretty tough. The toughest level I thought was "Balsam" of the "Nova Scotia" group. My solution was just absurd looking and took 26 seconds to run with the trains at full speed. Fun game!

I updated a couple of days ago (pwnagetool) and honestly, this is the first time in 3 years where I can say I've experienced any sort of sluggishness and program crashes. I don't know if it can be attributed to the jailbreak or 4.1 itself but I'm not exactly loving things at the moment.
