sorry i just think its odd i can find .308 all day but .223.... no fuckin way....clearly its inherently more evil even if smaller.

Just snagged a 15" Samson Evo rail from Rainier (Rainier moel) for my precision build. Going to try to keep it all rainier ( barrel, upper, rail)

Here's what we've been waiting for:http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/files/serve/?File_id=10993387-5d4d-4680-a872-ac8ca4359119
12/27/2012 6:51:07 PM
Hahaha, good fucking luck with that, bitch. No way in hell they're going to get grandfathered weapons registered. Other provisions, like banning thumb hole stocks, are just silly.
12/27/2012 7:12:17 PM
Lol that is a joke
12/27/2012 7:23:34 PM
LOL. All guns with detachable mags have "one military characteristic." I can't wait to see what they ID as military characteristic. Feinstein and her crew are clearly ignorant firearms.[Edited on December 27, 2012 at 8:08 PM. Reason : .]
12/27/2012 8:07:49 PM
In a way, it might be good that the bill is so absurdly overambitious. Hopefully this silliness will be DOA, rather than a more incremental bill that might be more likely to get more traction.
12/27/2012 10:01:11 PM
They intentionally over shoot so they can "compromise" and still get west they want
12/27/2012 10:37:33 PM
NRA is saying that her bill adds a $200 tax per "assault weapon" in order to be grandfathered in, and that you won't be able to pass it on upon death, but that it must be forfeited to the government. So much for passing on your grandfather's WWII M1 Carbine...
12/27/2012 11:01:43 PM
That shit will never pass, and if it does, just don't register them. What're they gonna do, send SWAT teams and safe crackers door-to-door?
12/28/2012 12:14:04 AM
$200? That's more than what I paid for my mosins. LOL. I'm sure they are on the ban list, because they were used in a few wars. I guess I better sell them before this bill hits so I'm not holding on to any contrabands.
12/28/2012 1:19:17 AM
I would think that a bolt action mosin falls under manually operated. But that summary is a crock of shit. A basic firearms class should be required for any aspiring politician so they at least have some knowledge of guns.
12/28/2012 2:28:13 AM
I think the best we could do is have a basic gun class for anyone who purchases a fire arm taught by someone trained to spot teh crazies.
12/28/2012 6:40:00 AM
So then my 2A rights are in the hands of a "crazy spotter"? No thanks. Will we need to bring our whole family in case one person is crazy?
12/28/2012 8:11:55 AM
reactions by gun nuts on message boards are actually helping craft a bill with fewer loopholesthanks, Internet gun nuts, for unintentionally making us all safer
12/28/2012 8:29:23 AM
^^ good point especially in a small town where everyone knows the crazy spotter.
12/28/2012 8:43:35 AM
theDuke866, why did you decide on the XDM over the XD?
12/28/2012 3:42:27 PM
Woot! Just snagged a Rainier Ultramatch 18" SPR barrel. Getting them to pin the gas block so that will be nice. Just need an upper and gas tube and I am good to go, got the SWFA SS 10x to go on top.
12/28/2012 4:14:09 PM
Nice. In .223 Wylde?http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=815
12/28/2012 4:43:27 PM
Yep, guess they are sold out already. I was driving down the road and got the email notification that it was in stock so I just pulled over and ordered it
12/28/2012 4:47:28 PM
Wow that was fast. They were actually in stock when I posted the link
12/28/2012 4:49:33 PM
Just saw on the news about the LAPD gun buy-back; well I know that most of those weapons are junk, you think there might be some gems in there that just get smelted?
12/28/2012 6:53:32 PM
^there wereI saw a picture with a Luger in it, and a CZ SP-01 near the bottom, among others.
12/28/2012 6:58:38 PM
To be fair plenty of shitty German companies such as Erma were making Luger replicas out of potmetal for decades.Just tell yourself it was one of them. Toggle-locks flying apart under the incredible pressure of 22lr.

12/29/2012 7:30:31 PM
crazy how scarce some calibers of ammo have been recentlyi mean i know why, but still
12/29/2012 7:31:37 PM
It amazes me how reloading components have been so scarce too, like there is any real reason to be worried about that
12/29/2012 7:40:32 PM
JD Machine Tech has lowers in stock.New Frontier Armory has polymer lowers in stock.
12/29/2012 11:35:28 PM
If you can make your own how can they tax it ?Thinking about getting 2 multi stage presses, who's should I go with ? Lee or??
12/30/2012 10:24:59 AM
Single stage, lee works fine, you can add the Hornady LnL system to make changing dies a breeze. Turret press, the lee system works well too. When you get into progressive presses it really comes down to Dillon or Hornady. I know people who had great experience with the Hornady but NRR will tell you to save your money and get the blue one
12/30/2012 10:33:23 AM
priming system on the hornady progressive is finicky. i love my Dillon RL550B.
12/30/2012 11:11:19 AM
^wrong screen name[Edited on December 30, 2012 at 11:18 AM. Reason : i'd start with a Lee Classic Turret]
12/30/2012 11:12:00 AM
In stock Billet lowershttps://www.cmttac.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=69Personally, I am going to wait and get some forged lowers when the prices return to normal but this is a decent deal considering it is billet
12/30/2012 11:29:26 AM
Any reason to shy away from the New Frontier polymer lowers? That's a pretty great deal for a complete lower.
12/30/2012 11:57:49 AM
Because it is a polymer lower
12/30/2012 12:10:18 PM
I wouldn't want a polymer upper. I kinda want a polymer lower to build a super-light carbine.I'm kinda toying with the idea of buying several more lowers from places that have them in stock, and then reselling them on gunbroker.com at 3x the price or whatever some dumbass is willing to bid.
12/30/2012 1:09:48 PM
Welp, ended up buying two of those billet lowers after all. Not sure what I will do with them, I want to build another one day but I might either put them on gun broker or keep them in case anything does pass.
12/30/2012 4:11:29 PM
On my list to try and find are springfield M1A sniper and scout style rifles. Sig or HK 9mm or .40 carry compact. and finally a good auto shotgun for skeet and trap. probably get a good remington 30-06 for hunting next year.
12/30/2012 6:27:26 PM
^FNAR?
12/30/2012 6:30:12 PM
Picked up an M1A the other week. It came with the synthetic stock, so I'll be replacing it with walnut or an EBR stock if I can find the right price.
12/30/2012 6:45:10 PM
^ let me know when you sell the synthetic
12/30/2012 7:23:32 PM
check the cmp.

12/30/2012 10:16:01 PM
The Remington 700 is overrated.
12/30/2012 11:14:00 PM
It smokes a Winchester 70 (in terms of accuracy), but it can't hang with a Savage or Tikka or even a cheap Weatherby. Also, the .30-06 is overrated. Well, it's a versatile round with factory loads suitable for a ton of stuff, but for a lot of things, the .308 is probably as good or better. Nothing wrong with the -06, but it's not the end-all. It's a do-everything-OK round (and in my mind, if you want one rifle to do EVERYTHING, I'd say that there's at least as much of a case for the 7mm REM).[Edited on December 30, 2012 at 11:27 PM. 12/30/2012 11:29:01 PM
^^ from everything i've read .308 can be loaded to any load that the much larger 30-06 (larger shell but not as robust as it should be to hold the extra powder) can be. 30-06 would be awesome instead of .308 right now... just because it's still available. i think .260 rem is pretty sweet too... (because you can get an ar-10 chambered for it just like .308)
12/31/2012 8:30:01 AM
.30-06 will handle a 220 gr bullet. .308 will not.
12/31/2012 8:37:27 AM
i thought sub-sonic .308 was .220 grain (basically the same bullet as the sub sonic 300blk)i guess it doesn't really matter most people say .308 twist rates don't stabilize .220 grain worth a chit anyway. [Edited on December 31, 2012 at 8:45 AM. Reason : .]

Here is a good summary of the new Feinstein proposal by the Military Arms Channel. One bit of interesting information is the lengthy BATF paperwork and extended wait time (months) it'll take for approval to cross state lines with your magazine-accepting-firearm.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDglpt8hpygThis link will take you to a Congressional website where you can quickly and easily email your Senators, Congressmen and the President: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/mail/?alertid=61046526&type=ML
