Garrett Walston (3/4* TE from Wilmington) to announce Friday. He's one the coaches have been after for a while and at a position of need (we're expected to take two TEs in the '16 class). Presumed to be between us and Carolina, although he did get an offer from Georgia recently.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/player/196600-garrett-walston/recruiting
5/18/2015 10:52:18 AM
There were rumors twice that we were expecting him to commit to us earlier in the process but both times he pushed his commitment off. Hopefully we're still in good shape, would be pretty bad to lose him considering how well we were doing early in his recruitment.
5/18/2015 11:19:00 AM
I'm not worried about a guy who's only rated 0.75 stars

justin witt OL commit - offers from cuse, iowa, pitt
5/18/2015 8:53:41 PM
Scout has him as the #46 OT nationally and lists him at 6'6" 270 lbhttp://northcarolinastate.scout.com/player/7567057n-justin-witt247 has him #31 nationally and a bit lighter (255 lb). Supposedly had offers from Cal and Kentucky as well.http://247sports.com/Player/Justin-Witt-75575didn't realize this PP story was public or I would have posted it earlier: http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/story/1547317-standouts-and-visits-for-julious?s=1786'8" 320 lb JUCO OT Ashton Julious that we're recruiting and plans to visit this summer. dude is massive... his film looks like he's playing against middle schoolers.

In news that is not at all surprising, Walston officially cut his list to us, Carolina, and Georgia. Still set to announce Friday afternoon.
5/19/2015 2:30:13 PM
5/19/2015 3:17:46 PM
^i assume it's in reference to e man seeing that frasier was from princeton.
5/19/2015 5:20:48 PM
Walston's announcement delayed indefinitelyspeculation is that it's due to, at least in part, to his high school coaches being UNC homers and a UNC coach visiting yesterday
5/22/2015 8:14:31 AM
Can't imagine the spin the UNC coaches are trying to put on an opportunity to play at Carolina. I mean, what the hell could they possibly be selling these kids to even make them consider playing at a school that's under so much current NCAA scrutiny?

YES, WE GOT A WALK ON

I'll always take a walk-on who's previously earned a D1 scholarship, especially at a position of need

Dorn to transfer to State, per sources

to play O line?

Hah, oops. Saw the first Recruiting thread on my mobile...
6/7/2015 10:11:22 PM
Thomasville Linebacker Garrett Hooker committed.
6/15/2015 2:42:26 PM
Nice. Not super highly rated, but I assume that if the coaches were willing to take his commitment this early with several LB targets still on the board, then they must really want him after watching him at camp. Also, no idea what kind of competition he played, but dude apparently had 6 sacks and 200+ tackles as a junior last year.
6/15/2015 2:53:04 PM
I don't know what they are feeding kids in Thomasville (my guess is leftover furniture parts), but that football team has been beastly for a long time.
6/15/2015 3:28:38 PM
He actually goes to Ledford, but the point still stands.
6/15/2015 3:42:42 PM
They take partial qualifiers
6/15/2015 9:26:57 PM
Ledford is a 3A school, so at least the competition is decent. It's also the school that produced Brad Hoover.

6/19/2015 10:06:51 AM
Are we still pursuing Garrett Walston?
6/19/2015 3:54:04 PM
Walston is actually visiting again today, but is scheduled to be at UNC for Fedora's Freak Show tomorrow. Green Hope receiver Bryce Dixon (who has committed to ODU but we've offered at TE) is competing at State in 7-on-7s today. Mallard Creek TE Thaddeus Moss (Randy's son) is visiting Carolina today and State tomorrow.Supposedly we're taking one more tight end and it looks like there's a good chance it'll be one of those three.

Garner’s [& NC State's] Nyheim Hines is N&O male athlete of the yearhttp://www.newsobserver.com/sports/high-school/article25101688.html
6/23/2015 10:15:35 AM
TE Thad Moss has released his top 8 schools, in no order: West Virginia, Oregon, UCLA, Georgia, Miami, Arizona State, NC State, Alabama
6/23/2015 3:34:31 PM
for some reason it blows my mind that randy moss has a college aged son
6/23/2015 4:07:26 PM
Randy Moss is 38. That means he had a kid at 20. It's not really odd/surprising.There are people I grew up with who have kids about to start high school. I'm 30.

Looks like he had offers from Army and Navy.
6/25/2015 12:47:09 PM
And Syracuse
6/26/2015 11:13:11 AM
3* TE Bryce Dixon from Green Hope committed. Had an offer from BC as well.
6/26/2015 8:57:33 PM
That finishes us up on TE's then. Walston fucked around too long.
6/26/2015 9:49:07 PM
at one point last week, the main guys on PP (Steve & James) had differing views on whether we'd still take Walston or Moss if we got Dixon, although at this point, I'm not sure I even care that much about getting Walston anymore.
