ok, in thinking about this logically, I think were going to be ok:

1: the only recruits we signed recently that were worth shoe contract money were Cat, TJ, Yert7 & DSJ (my subjective opinion of shoe companies)

2: The investigation only went back to 2015 and TJ and Cat were signed before then so they're out

3: I doubt Yert7 is involved because of the rigorous investigation that was conducted on him prior to him qualifying likely would have turned up large payments.

4: That only leaves DSJ and being that he was a lifelong state fan who had difficulty getting a shoe deal once he turned pro, I think we can eliminate him too.

i don't have any delusions about college athletics and recruiting practices. i hope our bag men are working hard right now for every sport. but the thing about DSJ is that, as noted, he grew up a State fan. but also, i feel like his injury probably hurried his recruitment/announcement along with much less fan fare and potentially less of the shady business. but who knows.

ain't nothing to worry about at this point.

and just to clarify, he obviously was still a prized recruit after the injury...i don't think anybody backed off recruiting him. i guess just from the perspective of building fan fare and excitement and having a huge announcement party things quieted down. so adidas swooping in to seal the deal as things heated up closer to signing day wasn't as necessary...just from a timing perspective. and to further that point, i think he was kinda considered a state lean for a while (as the quoted part indicates) but obviously that doesn't mean it couldn't have happened.

it's all moot because there's no indication he's involved at all

From the sound of things too it seems like while the adidas played a role in one particular case, there's a lot more coming out about agent specific stuff and happenings at non adidas schools (Arizona, Ok St are Nike) so may be more of just a middle man thing than strictly and adidas thing.

I'm more worried about Keatts at this point.

Yeah, if Jeff Goodman could throw Gottfried under a bus he would have tweeted it out like a billion times by now.

This is not an adidas thing. This is the entirety of major college basketball. I mean there are 4 assistant coaches who were ARRESTED today (none of which are at adidas contracted schools).

Honestly, this could be the thing that drives developmental basketball in the US change, which isn't a bad thing. Maybe it means club teams sponsored by the NBA or something, who knows, but I'm betting that something will happen in regards to the AAU circuit and shoe companies.
