^ Think of it this way, they're trying to save you money on ammo.

Tried to buy a handgun today at the show. My purchase permit was issued in 2008 in Wake county. The address on the permit doesn't match my driver's license but I still reside in Wake county. My driver's license lists my current address (in Wake county). The sheriff I spoke to at the show said I was fine and so did another vendor. The vendor I was buying from refused to sell me the gun. So, they have every right to set their own rules for sales....so I'm not mad at them.....but who is right?
12/15/2012 9:03:49 PM
The seller that doesn't want to get reamed by the sherrif he has to assume would hold him to the letter of the law.

http://www.kgw.com/news/Clackamas-man-armed-confronts-mall-shooter-183593571.htmlWhy is this not getting media attention?
12/16/2012 6:34:26 PM
the media doesn't like to paint gun owners in a good light

I plan on buying another Saiga 12 next week up at Fuquay Gun while I'm back home in NC.Should I buy ARs, too, in case we get another ban, or will I be totally fine no matter what happens if I just buy 2-3 stripped lowers and a pile of 30-round mags? Also, I want to build one lightweight carbine, maybe even with a polymer receiver (prob just lower). Bushmaster has an inexpensive full polymer carbine that is INSANELY light, but some of the reviews aren't good. The other, I'm thinking about an accurate, floated-barrel, full-size AR chambered in something bigger so I can hunt with it...maybe 6.5 Grendel. Only problem is, it looks like only a couple of manufacturers build anything for the Grendel so far.
12/16/2012 7:10:24 PM
6.8 SPCthey should've called it .270 Short
12/16/2012 7:48:09 PM
It would be cheaper to shoot 308 than 6.8SPC
12/16/2012 8:26:18 PM
you could buy a pile of 6.8 with the money you'd save by going AR-15 instead of AR-10[Edited on December 16, 2012 at 8:37 PM. Reason : i thought his goal was to get a deer cartridge in an AR-15]
12/16/2012 8:36:14 PM
6.8 SPC is the way to go for deerBuy a couple stripped lowers if you can find them, and some pmags. Buy any high capacity magazines for guns you one day hope to own.
12/16/2012 9:12:17 PM
What would possess one to build a 6.8 SPC over a 6.5 Grendel, though? The Grendel is pretty much superior in every way, from what I can gather.[Edited on December 16, 2012 at 9:20 PM. Reason : ][Edited on December 16, 2012 at 9:21 PM. Reason : ]

because i don't want a big-ass AR-10.
12/16/2012 9:42:28 PM
i don't blame youthe only other options i can think of are .243 WSSM and .30 Rem.
12/16/2012 9:47:57 PM
^The first rifle I ever shot was a .243 WSSM. The scope hit me in the forehead...but I killed the groundhog at 200yrds.

12/17/2012 10:20:12 AM
does that apply to purchase permits as well? i knew it applied to CHP.
12/17/2012 10:21:46 AM
There's nothing that I've found or ever heard that says it has to match on a buying permit. I've used a few permits and my address has matched only once.
12/17/2012 11:00:07 AM
That particular statute does not apply to purchase permits, but I don't know if there's another one that would. Probably need to check with the sheriff.Edit: Just saw he mentioned purchase permit in the original post, so I guess that doesn't apply at all. It's been so long since I've dealt with those, I forgot they even put your address on them.[Edited on December 17, 2012 at 11:50 AM. Reason : .]

i bought three 30s and four 20s this week. all GI contract mags. i really prefer the 20s. i store my ammo in 7 pocket bandoleers, so it works well.[Edited on December 17, 2012 at 9:33 PM. http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2267These Rainier Arms Select Series barrels are great. They also guarantee sub-MOA accuracy out of them.

I've heard the WOA barrels are just as good FWIW. Can't go wrong with either though.

what would y'all do for an upper? i've got a doublestar stripped lower that's been sitting around for a year i think. gonna go ahead and star collecting the rest of the parts.
12/17/2012 10:36:51 PM
Upper receiver? If money isn't an issue, go Vltor MUR. A bit stiffer and I like the look. I have one on my Noveske. http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=461If money is an issue, get whatever is cheapest. The forged upper receivers are pretty much all the same.
12/17/2012 10:39:20 PM
yeah, just a basic upper receiver. nothing fancy.
12/17/2012 10:40:58 PM
fuck it, i'm just gonna wait for this to settle down. i'll keep an eye on the classifieds forums and pick up what parts i can. shit's out of control.
