my shins hurt so i was going to go run on the indoor track at the y. but of COURSE i forgot my running shoes this morning. so i just came home at 5 and i was gonna run outside (well walk, my shins are ouch) but i tlooked like rain so i just said fuck it. and now the sun is out.oh well. i'm still taking a nap instead

^ Running helps with muscle soreness for me. It sucks for the first few minutes, but then it feels way better.Today was my first day back in the gym since my accident I kept things pretty easy, but not for long.

^^ yea it usually helps me too! but my shins are like tender to the touch. i am going to a shoe clinic next wed s hopefully i can get some better shoes cause i know my shoes are terrible (like they're from high school haha) so that might be part of iti was only a LITTLE sore after running (in quads mostly - not even calves or hamstrings) but my shins are just hurting a lot even just at rest gonna get the like gait test and stuff done for shoes. i'm excited!

^^ Yep, started Insanity last Monday. I thought it was going to suuuuck for me because I haven't done too much cardio lately, but I've managed to keep up surprisingly well. Right after the accident I did some stuff with elastic bands and an exercise ball, but nothing too exhausting. Then I got cleared to ride a bike, so I have been able to do that for about a month. I've tried running, but until last week that was pretty fail. Last week I managed to run most of the ~4-mile hash trail though. Other than that I have just tried to do whatever I could to keep some strength. Pushups, I stole my friend's olympic bar and did some squats and stuff with that, started the Armstrong pullup program (which I think we talked about for a while), etc. I hated not having a better plan, but didn't want to run to the gym again too fast.

walk/ran 3 miles. i can walk/run 3 miles in just over 30 minutes so i figure my first mile is prob like 8 - 10 minutes and then i get progressively slower haha. i mean i haven't run in a long time and i am out of shape so i feel like doing 3 miles in like 34 minutes or so is pretty good considering i walk in there too (but my walking is fast - i can outwalk some joggers which is weird cause why don't i just jog? i don't know i suck at jogging - i need to learn how)did it on the track at the y cause it was hot as balls outside and because my shins have been hurting. so 10 laps is a mile and i do (on each mile): walk 2, run 2, walk 1, run 1, walk 1, run 1, walk 1, run 1. so hopefully eventually i can put in more running and less walking and then EVENTUALLY run 3 miles straight. once i run 3 miles straight i think i'll be good. i mean i think i could right now its just a little painful haha.

downloaded p90x on my laptop. how big a loser would it make me to take my laptop into the apt complex's gym and to do the workout? think my place is too small and i don't have dumbells, resistance bands, etc... and i think downstairs neighbor would hate me doing the cardio

Tried to run 4.5 today, was miserably hot and probably only ran about 3.5 of the 4.5 total.What do you guys drink/take to stay hydrated/energized during long runs in the heat? It's not affected me too much in the past but it's really killing me this year. Just drink more water all throughout the day?

^ Yeah and you have to just become acclimated to running in the heat and humidity. It generally takes me a couple weeks to get acclimated to any type of extreme weather. You might want to get some Powerade to replace your electrolytes after you run in the heat too. I would only drink 8 oz. max after a run and up your water intake the day before you run so your muscles will be well hydrated. I think it takes about 6 hours for water to be completely absorbed in your body after you drink it.
