^^^thats probably a legit price. Just don't buy anything else at Perry's because it's likely 10-20% more expensive than anywhere else. An xd would be way better to learn on than an lc9. The lc9 would be ok but it's always easier to learn on a bigger heavier gun. Get the 9mm too. It's easiest to learn and is plenty of power plus the ammo is cheaper. One last thing, the doohickey that holds ammunition in a semiauto pistol is called a magazine, not a clip. Clips only hold ammunition together (like stripper clips for an m1 garand), magazines hold ammunition and feed the ammo with the help of a spring and follower.

d'oh! yeah, told you I was a noob. thanks for the replies, I may jump on this then.

11/12/2012 1:44:25 PM
so there really is no such thing as a banana clip.
11/12/2012 2:13:53 PM
it's technically called a banagazine
11/12/2012 2:34:19 PM
i like maganana myself
11/12/2012 2:36:06 PM
From what I've read the LC9 is not a good range gun (small with a long hard trigger pull). I'm only considering one because we already have 2 full size guns (between them 9mm, 40, and 45 barrels) and I want a CC option that fits in my tiny hands.
11/12/2012 3:32:09 PM
No pocket pistol is a "good range gun". It's not designed to be. It's designed to be a small, lightweight, pocket-style carry oh shit pistol. I have a LCP and love it (well, other than a current malfunction, which I think is due to a bad spring). If you want to have a small carry piece, then LCP/LC9/etc. are great options.
11/12/2012 3:35:47 PM
i concur that the LC9 trigger is not great.for its intended purpose though its probably alright.yes definitely not a range gun.
11/12/2012 3:41:48 PM
How much different is the trigger pull on the LC9 from the LCP? Maybe I'm still too much of a novice, but I've only really noticed trigger pull issues on 1 firearm (and that was a friend's... don't remember what it was, but it definitely a fun gun that was customized all to hell, and not a SD piece). Just squeeze the damn trigger and make it go bang.I mean, I can see trigger pull being a big issue for long-range targeting with rifles or if you're in pistol competitions and you want a hair trigger; but for the common shooter (such as myself), I've never really cared. Pick up a new gun, figure out the trigger, and go forth accordingly.[Edited on November 12, 2012 at 3:48 PM. Reason : .]

That's a pretty good price on even used xD...I might jump on that
11/12/2012 4:41:03 PM
Those CZ shotguns are actually Turkish imports by a company called Huglu. I've heard they're decent value for what you get, but I've never handled one.
11/12/2012 5:10:53 PM
Called Perry's and the XD sale is for new guns, so i reserved a 9mm.I figured worst case i can sell it and not lose anything.....$352.00 OTD in case anyone is wondering....

Wife wants a ruger sr9 after shooting this weekend any bad things about them?Functionally. She likes the athletics and ergonomics.[Edited on November 13, 2012 at 3:42 PM. Reason : .]

My first pistol was an SR9. I like it, great shooter and very good quality and ergo's. Hated the trigger and the slide was pretty stiff to rack. For the price, I'd buy again IMO.

Expected delivery Nov 14th.It got in to Raleigh at 11:39 last night (the 14th).How the fuck is it not ready for delivery yet? Guess the AUG comes in tomorrow.I hate the USPS, I thought firearms had to go overnight.

11/15/2012 11:38:56 AM
i think i'm going to get a garand and a fal that way i have a 308 and a 30-06.
11/15/2012 11:40:28 AM
build a FAL with a Coonan Argentine receiver and one of those Argy kits from Sarco (if they're still in stock)probably the best you can get.
11/15/2012 11:54:11 AM
shit i don't even know where to get the rest of the parts from lol
11/15/2012 11:59:01 AM
Between the two, that should have everything you need - maybe missing a muzzle brake though. However you'll need a barrel wrench (check the falfiles.com forum for a guy that makes decent ones), and some sort of bench vise to time the barrel properly. Oh yeah and some sort of tool to push the recoil spring into place... and another one to remove the pistol grip nut...I had help building mine from a guy out near Asheville, in Mill Spring. Found him on the FALfiles. He builds M14s too.Even with the tools, it should run under $1000 for what basically amounts to a brand new rifle. Most FAL kits out there are demilled surplus stuff. Imbel kits tend to be decent - usually cosmetic wear, but little barrel wear. Imbel receivers are top notch though, if you can find them still.

DSA makes great rifles, but for around a grand you can build yourself a better one. http://e-sarcoinc.com/argentinefalkitmodeliv.aspx this is the kit sans receiver, flash hider, and locking shoulderhttp://www.coonaninc.com/products.php/LAR_3_ARGIE_CH_ASSY/cPath,7/osCsid,f27c288a40d08319aadba5a9d585e3a1This is the correct receiver for an argy kit. A regular metric one will also work, but will require fitting. Whatever you do, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ENTERPRISE, CENTURY, HESSE RECEIVERS. You'll need a couple headspace gauges to determine the proper locking shoulder size. I think the locking shoulders are 60ish? I got mine from DSA. A guy named IRONWORKER on the falfiles helped me build mine (since I don't have all those tools) for about $100 (I think, I can't remember). It was a hell of a lot of fun, and you get to learn your rifle inside and out.Oh yeah and I got my AUG today. It's pretty neat.

Just tried to get in the gun show (~9:15). Line is amazing--Are people really this concerned about 2nd amendment rights?Going to wait and see if it was just an opening line and go later.
11/17/2012 9:40:40 AM
Damn, didn't even know there was a show this weekend. I'll have to see about heading over there tomorrow before the church crowd.
11/17/2012 11:16:37 AM
Just picked up an FN FNX9. Shot 50 rounds out of it today. I'm used to a DA/SA trigger, and this one shot well. I just cant help but think, I still shoot better with a G19.
11/17/2012 2:43:33 PM
Ended up returning around 10:40. Line still wrapped from jim grand around the exposition center but moved quickly. Unfortunately didn't leave with anything
11/17/2012 4:17:57 PM
picked up a bhp from 1986, seemingly perfect condition. looking forward to taking it out
11/17/2012 7:11:48 PM
Went hands on w/ my new duty weapon [Glock 32] this week; the recoil is much crisper than the 22 but I found it a blast to shoot. Didn't really get to run it, but that time will come. I had the choice of the 32 or 31 and found the 32 more suitable for the day-to-day operations of my new gig.
11/18/2012 1:30:41 AM
Glock 32 has been my carry for a while now. Love it, and it's a hot shooter...good timesJust don't buy Georgia Arms .357Sig reloads, FTF city[Edited on November 18, 2012 at 2:59 AM. Reason : it's sitting at 1 o'clock as we speak, actually][Edited on November 18, 2012 at 3:16 AM. Reason : ]

Why the switch from 40s&w to 357 sig?
11/18/2012 3:40:40 AM
Took a job with a different agency.
11/18/2012 12:56:35 PM
Oh. Which agency?
11/18/2012 1:22:18 PM
I haven't had any problems with GA .357 SIG. I used a G27 with a G32 barrel.
11/18/2012 3:54:07 PM
so the .308 was so the wife could use my barnes ar and i could have the FAL. but i ordered another barnes ar... cause i really like it. Still probably going to get a piston driven 308 sometime... just not right now.
11/19/2012 10:52:46 AM
^Although fairly expensive, the SCAR-17 is pretty damn awesome for a piston .308FN makes great stuff.
11/20/2012 12:21:53 PM
yeah i know... but they want eleventy gillion dollars for it too.barnes #2 wouldn't mind the colt multi caliber either. [Edited on November 20, 2012 at 3:10 PM. Reason : .]

I might get the Stag Arms SA2T off of Buds, anyone have an experience with it?Just purchased a nice Springfield XD9 a couple weeks ago.LOVE IT!

From a gun photography perspective, collapse your stock before taking a photo - it'll look much better[Edited on November 20, 2012 at 5:24 PM. Reason : I shoot all the way collapsed, or 1 stop up, anyway]
11/20/2012 5:24:16 PM
Picked up a CETME today. 2nd from the top in this photo:

Anyone happen to know where to find a universal paddle holster for a subcompact? Understandably not a real market for that but I can't find anything online. Mom's got a Beretta 950BS (.25acp) and wants to keep it on her hip when out on the property to dispatch a couple bully feral cats that are jacking up her outdoor cats. Don't ask me why she can't just keep it in her pocket. On a side note that thing is badass, fun as hell to shoot. Accurate for a subcompact, I was easily popping off coke cans from 20 yards and I'm not exactly the best shot. It's a '70s model so it's all steel and alloy but still only weighs about 10oz, and has never FTF or misfired in ~40yrs. Sight picture is a little odd but actually functional when you get used to it. I was hinting to my mom that I wanted it but it's the only auto they have among a host of revolvers and rifles so I suppose I'll just have to wait [Edited on November 22, 2012 at 2:41 PM.
