WARNING: wordsFoundations: I have tried many foundations, mostly department store brands. I used to use Prescriptives Traceless (basically a tinted moisturizer) but now Prescriptives is sort of out of business. I also decided I needed something with a bit more coverage and staying power. I also tried one or two from Clinique, but even the lightest color was too orange for me.After trying other various foundations, I tried Revlon Colorstay based on several positive reviews from various beauty gurus on YouTube. This was the first drugstore brand foundation I've tried, and WOW. I love it. They make it in two varieties - one for combo/dry skin and one for combo/oily skin. I have oily skin, and let me tell you this foundation does NOT move or sweat off or even get oily throughout the day. Since I've started using it I haven't had to blot or add more powder during the day. When I sweat, it's a clear sweat instead of a tinted sweat like I would get with my previous foundation. It is more of a medium to full coverage foundation, and it does take more effort to blend in, but I'm totally sold. Unfortunately it's only in bottle form right now, but I heard they may be moving it to a pump system in the future. The best part is that full price is maybe $12.99 but drugstores always seem to run specials on Revlon products. You wont have the benefit of trying out the colors like in a department store, but if you can try some when they go on sale, it's definitely worth a shot.I also have redness around my nose/chin, and I sometimes use a green tinted primer. Really though, I find the Revlon Colorstay does a great job of evening out the redness on its own.[Edited on October 20, 2010 at 11:38 AM. Reason : !]

try the chi silk stuff with the straightener, i love that stuff. as far as foundations- eww. i guess i am blessed with skin that stays clear most of the time, but i hate foundation except for photos and very special occasions. just use some concealer and blend it in.
10/20/2010 1:37:13 PM
i'm the same way GREEN JAY. i never use foundation. just some bronzer and blush. i have a lot of freckles on my face so it's hard to find a foundation that would match.
10/20/2010 1:48:12 PM
for me, i have very pale skin so nothing ever matches anyway. and then it covers any color in my cheek so i either look like a ghost or i put on some blush and risk looking clownish
10/20/2010 1:49:56 PM
I HATE foundation too. I hate covering up my freckles and it just feels awful and makes my skin worse!!! Concealer and at times mineral powder for me.

10/20/2010 9:59:16 PM
I hate the feeling of foundation and mineral ones are too cakey on my dryish skin. I started using MAC Face and Body foundation, the lightest shade doesn't go orange on me like everyfreaking thing else, and it evens out my skin tone without covering my freckles. I seriously have gotten way more compliments about my skin since I started using it. It wouldn't really work for people who need heavy zit coverage though.
10/20/2010 10:03:09 PM
I want to try that if it is good for sensitive skin as well. I have used neutrogena for so long that I am afraid to use other things.
10/20/2010 10:05:50 PM
As far as foundation is concerned, I really like Maybeline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O. It is light and has minimal coverage. It's on par with a tinted moisturizer.
10/20/2010 10:10:53 PM
^I think they've discontinued the pure makeup line which is how this all started, oh why do companies have to discontinue their best products?
10/21/2010 8:59:23 AM
^ ikr.One of the best lip balms EVER was sold at Bath & Body Works, made by C.O Bigelowmy mom was told they were discontinuing it and she bought me 10 of them, half off
10/21/2010 11:03:03 AM
Thanks for all the advice guys! I will try some of the stuff. Also Bob and the Showgram was talking about lip balm addiction today and I totally fall under that category. And as you can see, I've been super busy at work today. http://www.instyle.com/instyle/makeover/?action=showMakeover&tab=hair&hairId=1142I want to let my hair grow out.
10/21/2010 1:01:44 PM
^I like #1. I feel like I'm constantly growing out my hair.
10/21/2010 1:18:34 PM
my hair is about as long as what you're looking at. my husband likes it but its kind of a pain. its so heavy it doesn't have much volume (i have lots of very fine hair though). i can never get it styled as beautifully as the hair you tried on either. its mostly doing its own thing or i do some crappy updo
10/21/2010 1:19:35 PM
I know what you're saying. I've never had it that long though before... I get it fairly long and then chop it all off... but I'm really going to do it this time!

So I want one of these but I can't decide if I want it in light heather gray, deep charcoal heather, night sky heather, or taupe heather.Help? Here is the link with the colors.http://www.victoriassecret.com/ss/Satellite?ProductID=1265340285504&c=Page&cid=1284548322522&pagename=vsdWrapper[Edited on October 21, 2010 at 3:08 PM. Reason : Oh and if it helps, I LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE WOMAN IN THE PICTURE!!]
10/21/2010 3:05:29 PM
Charcoal or taupe would be the most versatile I think. I like charcoal. Also, it is completely awesome.
10/21/2010 3:57:45 PM
I need one of those! And living out where it actually gets cold, I can totally justify one
10/21/2010 3:59:29 PM
haha, how short is it now? (ncsugal's hair)[Edited on October 21, 2010 at 4:12 PM. Reason : ]
10/21/2010 4:00:01 PM
it is waist length but there are the ends that are longer so you can tie it to be longer or shorter.http://www.victoriassecret.com/ss/Satellite?c=LBIFeature&cid=1265299386672&pagename=vsdonlineshop/vsdReusableMoreInfo&popupheader=Styling+InstructionsI don't know if that shows up but it shows how many ways you can tie the sweater. I love pieces of clothing like this sooooo much!![Edited on October 21, 2010 at 4:07 PM. Reason : haha...Tara those two colors are the two I am stuck on as the top choices. Charcoal, eh?]
10/21/2010 4:05:10 PM
Clearly cross-front tie-back charcoal is the way to go.
10/21/2010 4:20:44 PM
haha...oops, GREEN JAY!
10/21/2010 4:22:54 PM
i think those are pretty cool. they're called bellinis on other websites. i ordered a sweater with a front like that, but it only hangs open. I can't tie stuff up and look good since my roll is so big, i need the vertical draping to disguise it. I ordered a bunch of crap in the last couple weeks. those ugly shoes and a bunch of clothes too. now i have to wait for them to get to my mothers house and beg her to put it all in one box and mail it to me. sigh!i got this skirt in blue, red and black. how would you style it?[Edited on October 21, 2010 at 5:04 PM. Reason : it says its satin]
10/21/2010 4:35:32 PM
Oh I love the color of the skirt. I would wear it with a tight shirt tucked in since it looks like a higher waistband. Maybe also add a nice cardigan over it for a cooler day. Also i have a cardigan thing like punchmonk posted and I love it. It's so versatile. Especially perfect for this kind of weather since it's cooler in the mornings and warmer during the day. [Edited on October 21, 2010 at 5:20 PM. Reason : ]

10/22/2010 10:10:47 PM
Are you working on your kick-ass halloween costume?Pun intended.
10/22/2010 10:17:39 PM
haha yes

Who here loves fashion blogs? this is one of my favs:http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/the reason I'm mentioning it is cause this picture taken of a pre-teen girl in London, just blows me away. she has more fashion sense in her little pinky finger than the whole of me.
10/23/2010 10:53:44 AM
^ if that's what's considered fashion sense today, I will gladly take a fashion ticket
10/23/2010 11:05:20 AM
im with Minkagrl01. i actually really like that outfit. i wish i would have dressed like that as a preteen.
10/23/2010 11:22:30 AM
I LOVE what that little girl is wearing!
10/23/2010 11:31:00 AM
it's the simplicity I love, plus the fact that it's not the exact copy of what every silly girl wears (too low top, too high shorts/skirt, too tanned skin)
10/23/2010 1:26:45 PM
pedos ITT
10/23/2010 1:39:07 PM
I think it's the shoes/sock combo that's killing meI will admit, I like her shirt/cardigan/necklace look
10/23/2010 2:01:11 PM
^I agree. I like everything except the shoes/socks. But that blog seems to feature a lot of shoes I'd not personally wear.
10/23/2010 3:14:59 PM
Does anyone know where I can get a cheap black corset or a top that looks like a corset? Need one for my Halloween costume. Thanks!
10/25/2010 12:39:33 PM
^ Charlotte Russe use to carry one. I did see they had a corset style black lace top. but you may want to check them out.
10/25/2010 1:07:51 PM
Aww man I love those shoes on that girl. I have an obsession with spectator shoes! She looks adorable.
10/25/2010 1:36:40 PM
Oh my god. Help, please.I used to have an AWESOME haircut. Layered, it moved a lot, and was awesome. It was getting too long, so I went in, and told the girl to please keep it exactly the same...just make it shorter, by ~2"This is it pinned back for workNot much, but the best picture I have for that.I am now sporting a fucking bowl/pageboy cut. I'd post pictures, but it's THAT bad. And I cry every time I try to take a picture or look in the mirror. Even pinned back like in the above picture, it's BAD. I'm gonna wet it down here shortly, and undo the salon styling, but I'm afraid it's going to do no good. Suggestions on another cut? I can't afford to lose much length. Alternatively, suggestions on how to style this?Ok, some pictures of this shit. I'll e deleting these before too long [Edited on October 25, 2010 at 3:08 PM. Reason : asf]

today's groupon is $20 for $40 of stuff at the body shop (at least my LA groupon is that, but it's good at all stores nationwide) -- i was just running low on lotion/body butter from there and planning on going soon, so excellent timing for me...also, wanted to mention that while getting my haircut this weekend i saw a paul mitchell product called 'texturizing sea spray' for whoever was talking about saltwater and their hair -- might be worth checking out...
10/25/2010 3:10:35 PM
ambrosia1231, I just got that same haircut this weekend!!!!!!!!!! We could be twins!I just wanted a trim, I told her at MOST take off half an inch and do not keep my layers ( it's too short to look right on me.) SO of course she somehow heard, take off at least an inch and give me round layers. Now, I have to use my large round curling iron to make it a little flippy (not too much) and keep it from looking so boring. I'm just not going to do anything about it other than fight it everyday, I'm trying so hard to grow it out that cutting it again will make it worse. Hair grows half an inch a month. That's my mantra.[Edited on October 25, 2010 at 3:21 PM. Reason : than]
10/25/2010 3:18:45 PM
I don't have a curling iron Or a round brush. re-styling made it a LITTLE better. I now look like ad adult fat lesbian from 1992, instead of a toddler who should be wearing a plaid jumper.I am SOOOO upset. Like, bawling my fucking eyes out. I'm starting the process of where to go tODAY to get this fixed.
10/25/2010 3:26:40 PM
It doesn't look that bad but it does make you appear like a snooty bitch. ESP sleeked back. gl
10/25/2010 3:31:26 PM
I got the same cut one summer. I just had to wait to grow it out
10/25/2010 3:35:44 PM
yall are encouraging I've got an appointment at 3 here: http://enchantesalon.com/#I might start praying
10/25/2010 3:37:01 PM
SO are you thinking about going somewhere to get extensions? or to cut it again?
10/25/2010 3:38:19 PM
to see if it can be salvagedI can deal with short - my hair was ass length earlier this year, and it's nice having shorter hair. I just can't go super short b/c of how fat I am, esp in my face
