For once I am extremely delighted we are kicking off at 7AM. So before City, Arsenal and Liverpool (monday) kick off United could be in 3rd place. Liverpool could be in 5th by the time they kickoff on Monday and Watford away isn't easy.

Now Swansea is still battling relegation and with a depleted United squad its going to be tough but we have to take this chance and put pressure on pool. I expect we will draw against Tottenham but from tomorrow if we are to win we basically have to win 3 out of 4 for a top 4 finish. I think 76 points will be the cut off for top 4. United have to win 4 out of the next 5 to do that. We have to go into the Tottenham match with wins against Swansea and Arsenal IMO to stand a shot.

Horrible if Swansea go down because of THAT.

English media are hilarious to the extent they kill foreigners for diving but never their own.

RIP United 2016/17 season

That was as bad as I've seen all year, and now with Shaw and Bailly out, it's surely all over

Bailly was really starting to put it all together too. Shame.

I'm gonna have to miss the NDL today not that it will go well for Arsenal anyway most likely.

Thought game was at 10:30 not 11:30 so I did see a bit at end.

Turned TV on. Saw Welbeck playing RWB. Turned TV off.

[Edited on April 30, 2017 at 1:19 PM. Reason : Spurs are clearly better. Major miracle they didn't finish higher over the last two decades once.]

Random question. Why are Spurs playing next year at Wembley while their stadium is being built? Why not stay at WHL one more year?

^^ I think they'd lose out on a ton of gate since they have to knock down an entire stand to finish the new stadium. It's going to be interesting given their track record at Wembley with this squad.

"RIP United 2016/17 season"

No Rojo, Pogba, Zlatan, Mikhi, Mata, Smalling, and Jones.

This team has played all the way through to the EFL cup final, FA cup quarters, now Europa quarters. I am delighted with how much they have been able to accomplish and how far they have come from just last season.

Mourinho has fixed our defense for good and I am delighted about that fact but I have been saying it for a while now that those early season draws will come back to kill us. All season long pundits were saying Zlatan has carried us but at the same time Zlatan was also responsibly for those stupid draws. Europa or bust for sure but if we do end up in the Europa again next year we should just play the academy and not take it seriously at all. This is what happens when your players play more matches than your rivals. Chelsea has played 42 matches and Tottenham has played 49 matches (they had European football).

Man United have played 57 matches already and if we make the Europa final (big if now) it will be our 64th match at the end of the season. That is absolutely bonkers. For me there are 2 matches left in the season and we now have our two best CB's our two backup CB's hurt for it. If I can fault Mourinho for one thing it is that he should have trusted Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu Mensah more towards the backend of this season. Bailly and Pogba both got hurt because of needlessly being overplayed.

On another note I hope Atletico do one over Real finally. It would suck for them to beat real and then lose out to Juve or Monaco though. I admire Atletico and the way they are run. Would love to see a Atletico v Juve/Monaco final though.

Real-Juve. Kill me. Was really hoping for Monaco before they get gutted this summer. Rumors already that bids upward of £80m coming for Mbappe.

Anyway, sounds like Ozil is probably gonna re-up but Sanchez is almost certainly gone and the malpractice to let his contract run down is amazing..

[Edited on May 4, 2017 at 7:44 AM. Reason : Mbappe, Martial and Pogba at United. Good French trio there.]

THEO, WHAT'S THE SCORE

THEO THEO WHAT'S THE SCORE

NLD was everything I hoped and more. Hard to describe how hype the atmosphere was, but TV does not do it justice after I got home and rewatched the match. The police presence to even get the away fans into the stadium was ridiculous. If they don't have 50+ officers out there in riot gear on horseback forming a human barricade that would have been an all out war in the street.

I've been to some big time NFL games but they don't compare. It's a higher level of fandom. Everyone is so organized and the influence the crowd has on the game is much higher than I thought. Then getting to watch Alli and Kane put Arsenal to the sword in the 2nd half was things dreams are made of.

I've been singing the Alderweireld song to myself for days now. It's fucking catchy.

Certainly won't be my last NLD.

^ lol the NFL is a shitshow, there is no comparison. NFL fans will never be part of the clubs they support. As much as English fans complain about clubs not doing enough for their fans they have no idea how American sports treat its fans.

I am all for Real-Juve. I think Juve may actually do it this year. So organized defensively. I am hoping for a cracker of a final, seems its been a while since we have seen one. Also I don't know if I am sold on Mbappe. He is too similar to Rashford IMO and I would rather give Rashford a chance. Regardless we need to qualify for the CL and I think Griezmann will come. Thats the french trio I would rather have, especially when they will cost around the same.

^^ Though I'm the "enemy" and it's been a [really] rough season I'll never begrudge anyone that gets to attend the NLD live. It's such an awesome experience. Wazza is right on about how the NFL is peanuts to this.

Happy to have secured CL group stage in back to back years now if nothing else.

Is there any doubt Hazard scores the winner to seal the title for Chelsea today?

^^^ I feel like every time Welbeck is healthy he has played well at Arsenal. Too bad he rarely is.

Also, I generally think Lingard is garbage but I would KILL for Rashford. He's not Ronaldo at that age but he is going to be the best in England along with Alli for a long long time.

[Edited on May 8, 2017 at 12:37 PM. Reason : Or does he go just by Dele now? Can't remember which one.]

Yeah 6 more points if we win out, but I've already conceded. It's like a 2% chance at this point.

[Edited on May 8, 2017 at 1:16 PM. Reason : ^ I think only those 4 still get in. Only 5 if Man U finish 5th and win EL]

Lingard is a good squad player IMO. Every squad needs someone like him, especially for those Wembley cup finals.

Rashford has a level of commitment and maturity that is close to Ronaldo's level. I am delighted he is a Manchester lad and I hope he lives up to be even 50% of the player Ronaldo is. He will be a here for a long time unlike fucking off to Madrid like most latin players.

I have heard nothing but good things from Arsenal fan for Welbeck. I am glad he is doing well and have nothing but praise for him. He is a hard worker and gives it his all on the pitch. I think he has likely reached his peak though and I don't see much room for improvement. I don't think Welbeck can lead the line though and is a great second striker to have, especially because he offers versatility. His best performance under Sir Alex came as a utility player in unique ties, much like Lingard is used.

If by some miracle we finish 4th (not likely now) and still win Europa then whoever is 5th (Pool/City) is fucked. I think the top 4 stays constant now unless Pool has a major collapse. Even then I think Arsenal is likelier to get 4th in that case.

But they're up 1-0 and this looks to be one way traffic to Middlesborough's goal

I mean the title was sealed as soon as Tottenham lost to West Ham. That was the only way Spurs could have put some pressure on Chelsea but its likely that spurs were never gonna catch them anyway. Lets see how Chelsea do with European competition next year. Lack of injuries, a very good squad that quit on their manager, and Kante has all been kind to Conte. Conte' European record is pretty bad and handling rotation will be a huge challenge for him next year IMO.

In other news hats off to the Swans because I think their results at the end of april and Everton in May have most probably saved them. Not having won since March 4 (including a loss to Hull & a draw to newly relegated Middlesbrough) they beat Stoke 2-0, drew at Old Trafford 1-1, and beat Everton 1-0. All while Hull lost to a relegated Sunderland and now have to play Palace & Tottenham. Swansea have to play Sunderland and West Brom.

That last spot likely comes down to Palace vs Hull. Hull win and they will be 1 point behind Palace with Palace playing Man United on the last day and Hull playing Tottenham. Swansea play West Brom on the last day. Palace have lost 3 in a row now and it could be an ignominious end for Big Sam but if United make the Europa finals it could be a nice lifeline for them. Hull probably threw it away by losing to a terrible Sunderland side.

This team is so fun to watch. Everything is in place for them to make serious run at silverware on multiple fronts next season. I hope Levy adds a couple pieces that could put us over the top. Somebody who has been there and won big things to help in the locker room would be ideal.
