I wish we got to play Mississippi State and Arkansas
9/11/2016 3:47:35 PM
I'm sure you do... and take Alabama every year, Georgia every year, and Oklahoma for two years before that, and Oregon two years before that. I'll take Old Dominion and ECU (oh wait)
9/11/2016 3:53:02 PM
Wait, what do Georgia, Oregon, etc have to do with the SEC West? Not sure what kind of tangent you're on this time.
9/11/2016 3:54:15 PM
You really going to shit on Wake and Syracuse when UT plays Kentucky and Vanderbilt yearly?
9/11/2016 4:31:18 PM
and you are really going to say that Tennessee has an easy schedule? The conference games alone rules that out, then you throw in our OOC games lately - Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, Cal (when they were good). I'll take State's typcial schedule anytime, and its not even close. Troll Troll Troll
9/11/2016 4:48:31 PM
Yes typically UT has a harder schedule than State, but State clearly has a tougher schedule than UT and 99% of the teams this year. I said West in my prior post because Bama/LSU is generally equivalent to FSU/Clemson. Maybe not this year since LSU looks to be very beatable.
9/11/2016 5:45:39 PM
depends what metric you use...this one (Steele, the fucking god of NCAA stats) has State at #24 hardest, UT at #27 and only separated by one game: http://www.fbschedules.com/2016/05/2016-college-football-strength-schedule-win-loss-method/this one doesnt have either in the Top 25, but has Syracuse and VT in it: http://athlonsports.com/college-football/ranking-college-footballs-top-25-toughest-schedules-2016shit's all over the place depending on what measure you use
9/11/2016 6:01:04 PM
If UL keeps rollin, the ACC Atlantic is gonna have back-to-back-to-back Heisman winners.
9/11/2016 6:04:02 PM
Remaining schedule, sorted into win, 50/50, and loss:Old Dominion (win)Wake Forest (50/50)Notre Dame (loss)Clemson (loss)Louisville (loss)Boston College (50/50)FSU (loss)Syracuse (50/50)Miami (50/50)UNC (50/50)That's one more guaranteed win, four guaranteed losses, and five 50/50 games. Think we are looking at a 4-8 or 5-7 season.
9/12/2016 8:45:11 AM
Except Miami and UNC should be marked as losses rather than 50/50
9/12/2016 8:57:39 AM
state/wake game set to kick at 3:30 next saturday. wake's QB Hinton will be out a few weeks and likely miss our game with them. both he and Wolford have been playing for them...Hinton can run, so we probably won't have to deal with a scrambling QB vs Wake
9/19/2016 5:41:22 PM
that's sucks because everyone else has scrambling qbs and we couldn't even tackle summers
9/19/2016 7:52:20 PM
9/19/2016 10:38:11 PM
9/19/2016 11:45:23 PM
Why does this writer justify why BC an't beat Louisville and why Wake can't beat Louisville but then just say that NC State is NC State. Don't get me wrong, I don't think we can beat Louisville either, but does NC State is NC State actually mean something or is she just too lazy of a writer to provide an actual reason?
9/20/2016 12:25:32 AM
whats even worse is the dismissal cf clmeson. at least know about top 10 teams. she said clemson fsu game is irreleveant but in all likelihood clemson beats louisville at home and loses on the road to fsu and they have a 3 way tie where it all comes down to a fluke game like who touches their nose last against nc state.
9/20/2016 12:32:58 AM
never change, packpride, never change.a poster said that we may have a shot with Les Miles if he was fired from LSU. instantly like 2 or 3 posters were saying that they didn't want him, he was overrated and wouldn't succeed here. holy shit man...like, we don't have a shot at Les Miles. i know that. but LOL at people being like "nah, we could do better"
9/22/2016 10:53:29 AM
i think if he got fired we would have an outside shot. but that would involve firing DD. which isn't happening.but there is no way in hell we could do better than les miles.
9/22/2016 11:11:59 AM
Hard to argue that any coach in the NCAA has wasted more talent than Les Miles in the last 5-6 years. That being said, I'd still take him for sure, but I do worry that he wouldn't be able to achieve the same level of recruiting here and his offenses are consistently AWFUL.
9/22/2016 3:14:11 PM
yeah - offense isn't his strong suit. LSU is a different beast than here...he definitely wouldn't recruit as good here. and don't get me wrong, i understand the stuff about him underachieving. but he averages over 10 wins/year at LSU. he's been to a national title game in the last 5 years. it would be nearly impossible for us to do any better than hiring Les Miles. again - i'm not saying it's gonna happen. but to say "nah i wouldn't want Les Miles" is pretty crazy when the alternative is another MAC coach or something along those lines.
9/22/2016 3:39:38 PM
Someone needs to hire Brent Venables as HC. You gotta think he is on a lot of short lists. Pretty accomplished assistant under Stoops/Dabo and only 45 years old.
9/22/2016 9:14:23 PM
^ i heard that from another source today.#dreams
9/23/2016 3:43:51 PM
big rivalry game tonight
9/24/2016 5:45:36 PM
ND at noon
10/2/2016 2:29:10 AM
Noon game sounds crummy but apparently it's the nationally televised slot which gets to pick ahead of the regionally televised 3:30 slot.
10/2/2016 8:35:47 AM
Surprised to see we made such a big jump in the s&p+ ranking. From 40 to 25 this week. And offense is 14. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ncaa
10/2/2016 2:48:41 PM
i'm hoping the notre dame game gets cancelled so we don't have to waste all of that effort in a meaningless game and can get ready for our two superbowls.
10/2/2016 5:19:09 PM
I seriously thought we had that game in the bag going in and throughout. this one will hurt for a long time. However I believe this is the best 4-2 team we have had in a very long time. sucks we have to run the gauntlet that is the Atlantic.
10/17/2016 8:30:26 AM
the @UL game is still scary and daunting...but every other game on the schedule looks pretty winnable all of a sudden. not that i believe we'll win out or anything. but miami and fsu at home, and @UNC aren't sure-fire losses imo. and we'd be favored vs Cuse and BC for sure.[Edited on October 17, 2016 at 9:10 AM. If we bring the same defensive intensity that we brought against Clemson, and my opinion on this program definitely shifts. We have amassed quite a bit of talent, just been about them putting it together on the field and bringing the right mentality. Felt like before with Doeren some games we just wouldn't show up at all, and the Clemson game screamed that going into it. Just seeing that we're playing hard and we're getting closer and closer to turning the corner. If we can play Louisville as strong as we did Clemson, win or lose, I'll feel much better about Doeren and this team heading into the rest of the season and next year. Sadly, coming off an emotional loss and Duke almost catching Louisville sleeping last week, I expect Lamar Jackson to come out fired up.
10/17/2016 9:18:00 AM
That game will hurt the players mentally. I dont see us being able to summon the same energy again after that.

i dont know if you are a troll and are if you were quoting your own post, but i think most people expected 2-2 and hoped for 3-1.I mean LOL at not expecting to win Wake, BC and Cuse.
10/17/2016 7:16:00 PM
yeah we were double digit favorites vs Wake. it wasn't a 50/50 game at all. some debbie downers probably were saying we wouldn't a conference game all year after the ECU loss but they are just dumb.[Edited on October 17, 2016 at 7:25 PM. Reason : f]
10/17/2016 7:25:15 PM
Lol I guess I was one of the dumb ones.Wake was undefeated at that point and we were coming off a demoralizing loss to ECU.Regardless, think we can squeeze out at least 3 wins with our remaining schedule.
10/17/2016 11:25:00 PM
i mean, there was reason to be pessimistic. i was just pointing out that vegas had us as heavy favorites vs wake.
10/18/2016 7:22:13 AM
^^ for what? Recognition of a crappy bowl game for yet ANOTHER season? Is that why DD was hired?
10/18/2016 8:42:01 AM
Haha, how could you look at the program over the last 3 years and not think we're trending in the right direction? Just look at the Clemson games: Lost by 41. Looked completely outmatched in every area of the game and they embarrassed us. Lost by 15. Were up at halftime, fell apart when Dayes went out, still hung 40+ points on them. Lost by 7. Had a chance to win the game but missed an easy FG and choked in OT. I'm not big on moral victories, but I don't see how you can look at the last 3 seasons and not think our program is moving in the right direction under Doeren. We're 2 missed kicks from being undefeated and ranked in the top 25. We went from 41 point embarrassment @Clemson 3 years ago to coming a few feet away from beating a top 5 team on the road. Now I fully expect our team to come out and fall on it's face next week, so anything short of that will show growth from years past. The best part is that we're setup to be fairly good next year barring players leaving early(namely Chubb or Samuels).

The game against Clemson was one of the best games I've seen from NC State since I first started watching them (1999).I have not doubt if we play the way we we did and avoid the stupid penalties (and get some love from the refs for the others), we can win out. That's right. Win. Out.Maybe my comment above is more of a statement against the 100+ college bowl games each year:Cottage Cheese BowlWalmart Insignia Paper Products BowlYoobi Sewing Scissors Bowl...Yes, the guys get to play another game and improve their record and get some recruits looking at us.But, MAN, we should be taking care of that during the regular season and not have to feel "awesome" that our team is one game above not having a winning record and, thus, get to celebrate with a bowl game.GO PACK!
10/18/2016 10:41:06 AM
^ i think that sentiment gets remedied if we can "steal" a game where we're the underdog this year or get that signature win we haven't really had. it nearly happened last week. it'll be tough as shit to get that win this week @UL. but we've got chances vs FSU, Miami, @UNC to break through with a signature win. i totally understand the feeling that we're not progressing quickly, or that we're progressing towards yet another mediocre bowl. and that's largely due, imo, to weak schedule in years past making bowling a near certainty and a very low bar, and to the lack of a signature win. we beat up on wake, bc, cuse, and crummy OOC teams...then lose the rest. that's boring, i agree. we've got a real opportunity this year to change that.

Sept. 3 WILLIAM & MARY WSept. 10 @ East Carolina LSept. 17 OLD DOMINION WOct. 1 WAKE FOREST WOct. 8 NOTRE DAME WOct. 15 @ Clemson LOct. 22 @ Louisville LOct. 29 BOSTON COLLEGE Nov. 5 FLORIDA STATENov. 12 @ SyracuseNov. 19 MIAMI Nov. 25 @ UNC-CHCan we get to 6 wins? Will be favored against BC. 50/50 at Cuse/Miami. Probably underdogs in the rest.
10/22/2016 4:48:44 PM
i think we win the next 2 because they are running teams. the last 3 will be tough.
10/22/2016 4:50:20 PM
I think we are capable of winning out. Doesn't mean we will, but we could. BC and 'Cuse are should-win games, and FSU is suddenly beatable this year so who knows. UNC is always a tossup no matter how good either team is.
10/22/2016 7:00:03 PM
we should be favored vs BC and @Cuse. probably dogs in the rest, but not big underdogs at all. wouldn't be unrealistic at all to finish 7-5, imo.@Cuse won't be a cake walk, they're improved for sure. but i think we're still more talented than they are.
