1) A younger, more beautiful queen will be her undoing2) She will outlive her children3) She will die by the hands of the younger brother
5/31/2016 1:05:06 PM
Now I remember. Obviously everyone assumed it would be Tyrion...but Sandor would be a nice twist.
5/31/2016 1:07:00 PM
^or Jamie since he's a few minutes younger. but yeah I never thought of the Cleganebowl being it. epic twist right there.
5/31/2016 1:43:16 PM
You guysIs Daenerys a villain?
6/2/2016 9:18:32 PM
^nah.Bringing this thread back since there were some differences in the Riverrun thing. Do we think the Blackfish is really dead? In the books he swims away under the portcullis. I really hope he's not because if so, I don't know why the show would waste all the time building him up.
6/13/2016 1:16:59 PM
everyone seems to think lady stoneheart is definitely not happening since beric is back, but doesn't it make more sense that the writers would rather show him breathing life into her instead of it just happening off camera?
6/13/2016 1:50:52 PM
Or perhaps he already has, off camera
6/13/2016 1:54:24 PM
i guess he could have, but, at least in the books, he had to give his life for hers
6/13/2016 2:07:56 PM
She's been dead way too long at this point to show Beric bringing her back. It's been about a year since they cut her throat
6/13/2016 4:01:17 PM
there's always a flashback or a bran vision, but they've gotten a bit far away in other areas, so i doubt they'll do it at this point.
6/13/2016 4:16:03 PM
you guys, i think it's way too late for a Lady Stoneheart resurrection, you guys.
6/13/2016 5:09:41 PM
I'm thinking GRRM is going to announce TWOW shortly after the finale this week. Wishful thinking, maybe, but it would make sense.I really can't wait to read the book version of events for this season and beyond.
6/21/2016 10:08:21 AM
I wonder just how much the show is going to somehow influence his writing though. Sure, he says they're not related but come on, deep down, it will have to have some kind of impact.
6/21/2016 12:24:08 PM
The show has clearly shown that the "life for a life" rule isn't necessarily applicable (Jon and Melisandre). The fact that Beric is still around means nothing.LSH, next week, immediately before credits. Too much time spent around the BWoB this season to not be setting up the reveal.
6/21/2016 12:24:51 PM
I just think it would confuse the audience since Brienne has a totally different arc in the show.
6/21/2016 2:22:07 PM
^^ that's not really the same. thoros (and melisandre) didn't have to sacrifice a life to bring back beric (and jon). beric had to sacrifice his life to bring back LRH.apparently the lord of light only wants a priest/priestess to be able to bring back one person at a time?
6/22/2016 3:39:56 PM
no way in hell they decide to finally bring up LSH after this longcatelyn is dead, let her rest in her shallow damp grave
6/22/2016 8:28:57 PM
It might be too late to bring out LSH, but if they did, people would fucking whig the fuck out worse than they did when Red Wedding happened. It's the last big shock reveal the current books have left to play.I for one hope they wedge her into the plot somehow, but doubt it happens.
6/22/2016 10:06:29 PM
LSH was a little "too much" for even the books. I can't imagine a way that the producers could pull this off without it looking stupid as fuck. They should just leave this one alone.
6/23/2016 7:49:22 AM
^totally agree. it would just be confusing. they might as well bring Ned back as the Headless Horseman too
6/23/2016 10:09:44 AM
I disagree. LSH was awesome and creepy to read her chapters, and it would make TV watchers lose their shit. GRRM apparently was annoyed that they are gonna leave LSH out of show... Unless he was bluffing to keep the secret that she will indeed make an appearance.Only time will tell my dawgs....
6/23/2016 12:03:52 PM
she only had one chapter. and like one line haha
6/23/2016 1:51:52 PM
Her presence was so heavy and mysterious, there was no need for dialogue.
6/23/2016 2:42:44 PM
So is this how the show starts to show the divide between Jamie and Cercei?
6/27/2016 9:34:37 AM
That look he gave her at the end would suggest so. She's basically become the mad Queen, sets up the prophecy of her being killed by her younger brother
6/27/2016 1:34:37 PM
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/feb/01/new-george-rr-martin-story-the-sons-of-the-dragon-game-of-thronesThis should be proof to any book fans left out there that he has no f'ing clue what to do with the primary novel, so he's just putting out random junk from the universe he created.
2/3/2017 10:03:51 AM
So I've watched through season 4 of GOT and am 2/3rds of the way through ADWD.I have thought the TV show had done a relatively good job of translating the story while mostly remaining true... until season 4's finale when The Hound and Brianne fight (they never meet in the books) and Jojen's death (has not died yet in ADWD). Is season 5 when the TV show starts to drastically diverge from the books?Obligatory book power rankings:1. A Storm of Swords2. Game of Thrones3. A Dance with Dragons <=== could overtake GoT if the last 1/3rd of the book is awesome4. A Clash of Kings5. A Feast for Crows
2/3/2017 10:34:16 AM
Any idea when this guy is gonna finish this book? This is just getting stupid at this point.
3/12/2017 8:43:59 PM
Yeah man, GRRM and I were tag-teaming your mom the other day, and he said the new book should drop the same time as your balls. So it's not looking like any time soon.
3/13/2017 10:33:17 AM
3/13/2017 11:01:56 AM
Has anyone read the Dunk and Egg stuff? There are three novellas and you can get them either in word form or in graphic novel form. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the word form of all three combined iircI just ordered that but was wondering if I should also read the graphic novels or read them in lieu of the novellas.
3/16/2017 9:41:50 AM
Back when I bought them, they were part of larger compilations, so I had to get the compilations. Haven't read them though. I'm boycotting anything else GRRM until we get WoW.
3/16/2017 10:07:57 AM
3/16/2017 10:17:42 AM
She says like 5-6 hours per book.
3/16/2017 8:45:14 PM
Some people just have the ability to absorb details when reading quickly. But I don't think I've ever sat down with a book and read constantly for 5-6 hours. My eyeballs would fall out of their sockets I think.
3/17/2017 9:02:57 AM
The graphic novels are super cool. If you're a collector I would definitely pick those up!
3/17/2017 7:03:50 PM
I picked up A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Hedge Knight (graphic), and The Ice Dragon. The Ice Dragon was a really cool little story. Hopefully I can find time this weekend or next week to read the others.
3/24/2017 5:24:57 PM
So y'all think Euron is bringing the horn? I feel like it's pretty late to introduce that in the show but who knows.
7/17/2017 10:01:00 AM
oh yeah, I forgot about that. Wasn't the horn said to control dragons? Would make for an interesting twist if Cersei got the power to control Dany's dragons
7/17/2017 10:54:54 AM
I think even in the books a lot of people doubt that there really is such a horn and that it has that kind of power. I'm not sure Cercei will get the horn or have it for long if that's the case. I think that's when we'd see Jamie/Tyrion kill her (to fulfill the volnquar prophecy) and use the dragons for the right thing - presumably the defeat of the walkers.
7/17/2017 11:00:11 AM
We know that GRR Martin isn't a fan of particularly happy endings though. Wouldn't be surprised if the White Walkers ended up winning in the end. Would be a crazy twist. Although I guess that would be too risky for the TV show. Martin could always end the book series that way with the show having a completely different/happy ending.
7/17/2017 11:05:26 AM
Have to retract my statement from the other thread. Apparently the gift isnt a horn. Pictures from the set pretty much confirm who the gifts will be.
7/17/2017 11:13:53 AM
Nah...I can't see them bringing in the horn. Most likely he'll capture one or several of Theon/Yara/Ellaria/Sand Snakes.
7/17/2017 11:16:34 AM
7/18/2017 10:55:52 AM
I'll put this here so as not to spoil anything for the show watchers. Nymeria runs with a super pack of hundreds of wolves in the books. GRRM has said in interviews (paraphrasing) "you can't hang something like a super pack of wolves on the wall and not use it in the story." But the show has really underplayed the dire wolves altogether and the Stark family ability to warg into them - the show runners have said that it's really difficult to make wolves look right in CGI because you can compare their movement to real creatures, unlike Dragons or giants. I don't think that was Nymeria's curtain call.
7/25/2017 11:02:10 AM
https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/26/entertainment/winds-winter-book-release/index.htmlBig shocker...it won't be coming out in 2018. I'm convinced he's not finishing it on purpose.
4/26/2018 10:55:13 AM
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/nov/10/books-interview-george-rr-martinLol he's never finishing the series.
