costner looked pretty dominant in the 07 acc tourney.

his attitude regressed over the summer, whether b/c of the hickson situation or just his own lack of heart, who knows. but he definitely showed what he could be in 07.

mccauley was more of a howell type, 100% intensity who did the dirty work, then he got knocked down to clean up duty for an admittedly far more talented player.

josh powell was a eunuch in sendek's offense. he certainly had talent but he was never used so its kinda moot. i remember time after time watching him scream for the ball on the post then sulk back to the bench.

The funniest thing about tonight's game is that the only reason it was close was because Michigan almost Herbed themselves.

were Hodge and Powell in the same class or did Powell come a year later? want to say they were in the same class but Powell didn't really do much his freshman year, whereas Hodge almost singlehandedly beat Caron Butler's UConn team after knocking off the defending champion Michigan State Spartans

which would be the 1st of 2 defending champions he knocked off in the NCAA tourney in his Wolfpack career (NyM knows what i'm talking about)

Team finally looked like they gave a shit. Michigan is a good team, it wasn't shabby defense, despite what the cocksucker was spouting on tv. What an absolute horseshit player control foul at the end on Leslie. You can't take the that move away from the offense AND not call fouls all game on the defense.

Especially after you let the exact same call go on the other end multiple times (especially on the fast break where the guard shoved leslie to the floor so their oaf could finish the play)

Not to mention all the physical play allowed the whole game underneath the rim, unless your name is Richard Howell. I applaud our guys for adjusting and playing through contact, even if Ted Valentine decides to change the rules with 1 minute left.

It was a bullshit call at the worst possible time, but we got a few too. Warren's fastbreak layup late the 2nd half could have easily been a charge ... in fact, if you watch Warren's reaction, it seems like even he thought it was a charge.

Still,

This was just horrible. I am really surprised that they called that foul on CJL when it would would have given us a 1 pos game with 42 secs on the clock. We could have tied it up.

Regardless, it is good to be looking good in November against great competition and not to be getting blown out. Don't forget that rankings don't mean much in college bball. In fact, if you had to "rank" what is important at the end of the year, then it would be:

1. NCAA tourney
2. Conference record
3. Winning the ACC tourney
4. nat'l ranking.

This isn't football.

The call on Leslie at the end of the game sucked for two reasons...

1) It was a borderline call. It was an extremely light hook and not something you call at the end of the game...IMO.

2) He had much worse hooks in the game before that. IMO, a couple of those should have been called...but not this one. At the same time...you don't "no-call" the previous ones, then call this baby-foul shit. You can't let the guy get away with that shit all game...then when he BARELY doe it in the closing minutes...call that shit. It's bush-league reffing.

This loss wasn't on the refs. We lost because we couldn't stop UM and let them jump out to a big lead early.

That said, it amazes me that CJL took 17 shots and didn't get to the line all game. Meanwhile, UM takes 3 times as many 3s (24 to 8) yet attempts twice as many FTs as us (20 to 9). I realize a few of those FTs came when we were fouling intentionally. Part of the reason CJL doesn't shoot a ton of FTs is because he seems to try to avoid contact and take a higher difficulty shot instead of going straight up and drawing a foul. Still, it's frustrating. We need to be getting to the line more than 9 times a game.

He's used to getting hacked the fuck up and not getting a call, so he uses his athleticism to avoid contact and get the shot off.

I could see the last Leslie no-call going either way, but it just makes it worse that Teddy Valentine made the call.

His animated foul calls are borderline pre excessive TD celebration in the nfl obnoxious

Yep. I don't necessarily think it was an egregious call by itself. Just the fact that the refs had let a lot of stuff go all night and then made that call with 40 seconds. That call seemed inconsistent with how they had been calling the game all night.

Yeh; blame goes to the team for shitting away most of the game. However, the officiating was not great. I thought there were several bad no calls and way too many non-fouls called.

Go light with the insults - It is welcomed to attack someone's ideas but please refrain attacking character.
Stay On-Topic - Try to stick with the topic. If you have something important to say that doesn't relate to the topic, then start a new topic. If you have something useless to say, keep it to yourself.
Be thoughtful/humorous - Hundreds of people browse the message board each day. Before you post something, think to yourself, "would the majority of the users want to read this?". If the answer is "no", then don't post it.

this thread is an abomination.

Are we really comparing this team to a team that lost to New Orleans and had a LOSING RECORD?

God you guys are seriously retarded.

None of that is inherently relevant to the comparison.
