thinking back on it, it's hard to believe that in Game 1 of the 2003 season, John Fox actually decided to go with Delhomme when Peete was sucking early in the game

new years eve 2006 Jaguars/Chiefs in a game called by Gus Johnson. probably some of the most exciting football in a long time, mainly because of Gus and his on-air love affair with Quinn Gray. That might be the only reason I have appreciated Jacksonville.

But i mainly hate them. They beat our ass in December 07 at their place, I was at that game, and it was the worst thing ever.

I am waiting for our OC to take his head out of his ass and make better redzone calls and better calls in crucial situations. Cam can throw, but we get gun happy and totally stop running the ball. Damn.

Defense.....damn shame we lost of LB's...gotta be addressed.

anybody hear Smitty call into The Drive this afternoon? I caught the last few minutes of him saying he puts it all on the field every game because you never know when the last snap of your career is...then he said the best WR in the game right now was Megatron followed by Wes Welker

I heard it ... pretty good stuff about wanting to be a part of the team "when it all starts to click." Also, pretty funny how he called out Q for being a character.

Only thing about that segment that got on my nerves is Marc. Dude was sucking up to an unbearable degree

he should've either made his Twitter name @MarcusJamesWFNZ or say "M-A-R-C James W-F-N-Z" when he gives it out every 5 minutes, that "Marc with a C" shit every 14 seconds is annoying as hell

You should go see him tonight for some $3.75 domestics at the Uptown

i have yet to hear from the media pundits how newton's numbers are [partially] a product of the "new" nfl pass happy systems. the whole league's numbers are up in passing. if newton was doing this, say, in 1998, that would be something. hard to get too excited when multiple other qbs are doing it on a consistent basis."

this is a little true, but he's third in the league in passing right now so it's still awesome and considering what a pile of shit our offense was last yr even more awesome

we're also going to have to start adjusting receivers stats looking back on their careers so you have to look relatively but steve smith is second on yards right now so also still awesome and hopefully he should get another pro bowl

I don't mind the losing. We are exciting to watch and clearly headed in the right direction. High Draft picks are actually valuable now that they have a rookie cap.

Pretty sure we have the worst ST in the league this year. And our defense isn't far behind. But that offense looks really solid

it's a young team, and it's good to see them fighting every game. they're getting close in every game and competing. it's only a matter of time before they start winning, though it probably won't start happening consistently until next season or later.

this was great. and you could hear it somewhat struck a chord with the whole studio that the QCB schtick isn't as funny as they may think. I honestly think it brings the show down. In unrelated news Mark Packer has started calling in weekly to 730am's afternoon show with Bill Rosinski and is hosting a weekly show on SiriusXM College Sports

The Panthers are currently working on a trade offer for LB Aaron Curry of the Seahawks (former top 5 pick out of Wake).

Yeah while obviously I would prefer winning all I really wanted out of this season was excitement and to see the team competitive and they have delivered on that.

Newton has given me hope that he wasn't a wasted number one pick and now I dont have to pray that we lose every game just to get Luck. Should allow us to draft at other key positions this year and hopefully improve the defense. The offense looks in decent shape for another couple years at least just gotta keep the other team from outscoring us.

per wfnz, the Aaron Curry stuff is still all rumors with one out there that we've offered a 6th round pick for him. But still no actual proof of anything yet.

I love this kid more everyday

Quote :
"George Whitfield, Cam Newton's QB coach during the pre-draft process, told me last week that Newton spent two 90-minute sessions this summer studying NFC South defenses. Whitfield would start the tape of Josh Freeman against the Saints' defense or Drew Brees vs. the Bucs and pause it pre-snap. Newton then would have to look at the formation, look at the defense, draw it up on the whiteboard and predict what the safeties will do, where the pressure is coming from and also what the offensive play would be. It's that kind of preparation that has Newton ranked among the NFL's leading passers, third with 1,386 yards behind Tom Brady and Brees. The Saints might be surprised at how good he is. Last year's game in Charlotte turned ugly fast and ended up 34-3, Saints. This game, however, could be the shootout of the weekend. Newton diced up the Bears and though he made some poor throws, he also is the best rookie in the NFL by a mile. And the losing is killing him, too. The Panthers won't have many answers for Brees and the Saints' offense, but the Saints might not have many for Newton, either."

Doesn't seem like a big deal. I like his fire.

""Way to play," Olsen said to Newton. "You gave us a chance to win."

"(Expletive) chances, man!" Newton shot back, pushing Olsen's arm away.

"Man, don't take it out on me," Olsen said."

Signed Safety Jermale Hines off waivers from Colts.

The Rams picked him in the 5th round this year, then I assume he was cut and signed by the Colts.
