It'll definitely be packed; Jackpot was pretty full when they played there on roughly two hours notice.

^^ i'm an out-of-towner now. I've only been to the new location once or twice, and I can't seem to visualize where in the store the stage is. no worries

hearing them at jackpot that night was a very special moment in raleigh music imo. you just had to be there to appreciate the vibe.

new album is banging...if someone picks me up a ticket for this weekends show i would love them long time

^ why don't you just buy one

http://www.etix.com/ticket/online/performanceSearch.jsp?performance_id=1473086&orderBy=1

i'd get you one, but i already have mine.... and i'm going to attempt to pull off two shoes in one night.

(Best Coast/Decemberists early, then leaving there to be at Kings by 11ish to see Rosebuds)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/05/kanye-west-monster-video-_n_871485.html

Kanye West's video for "Monster" ft. Rick Ross, Bon Iver, Jay Z, Nicki Minaj. Pretty crazy video.
Quote :
"With an introductory disclaimer that reads, "The following content is in no way to be interpreted as misogynistic or negative towards any groups of people. It is an art piece and it shall be taken as such," the video launches into women hanging by nooses, Kanye setting up a threesome with corpses, Jay-Z raps over dead women and evil Nicki Minaj busts out the S&M gear to torture her good self."

Is the Rosebuds' Birds Make Good Neighbors a "rare record"? Because the chance of not otherwise being able to obtain it was certainly the only motivation in buying it today....

It's out of print on vinyl as far as I know. It's not worth a hundred bucks or anything, but it isn't easy to find.

In other news, I'll buy it from you.

^ that review is garbage. They only talked about a few of the songs, and it seemed that they lost points with the reviewer for making a "heavy" album-- an album that (god forbid) made him feel something, as opposed to a lot of the emotionally sterile crap that comes out these days

this one -- 7.3

night of the furies -- 7.7

life like -- 7.2

birds make good neighbors -- 8.1

the rosebuds make out -- 7.3

not exactly going out on a limb by predicting they would get in the mid 7 range, LOL

Pitchfork's getting really, really bad these days. Coke Machine Glow, ftw.

I hate to be the a-hole here, but if they give that new Bon Eye-ver anything remotely close to a BNM, then I'll stop following them entirely.

More like...Bon Contriver

And it appears I got the Rosebuds' best album ever yesterday!!

wait, someone doesn't love bon iver? how are you still talking about music on the internet?

all jokes aside, as much as i deplore the musical hivemind... i really do love bon iver.

[Edited on June 9, 2011 at 12:39 PM. Reason : i'm surprised he's/they're even remotely cool, usually stuff i listen to is super e-lame]

I have Birds Make Good Neighbors on vinyl.

How much?

I'm digging the new album a lot, but I still don't think it is as good as BMGN. It definitely is going to get a few more listens though.

I don't know if they'll ever make a record as good as BMGN.

If I had to rank them right now it'd be:

1. bmgn
2. tie between Make Out and the new one (new one will likely over-take this one, i just have a soft spot for Make Out)
3. Night of the Furies

and a very, very distant 4th for Life Like.

hell, i would even put the Unwind EP above Life Like in terms of quality tracks, even though it's not a full length.

i'm really digging the new Bon Iver. the last song really gets me. then again, i'm a huge sucker for "sad bastard music" as my girlfriend likes to call it.

two songs in and im caught up in the swaying whimsically psychedelically fun dale earnhardt jr jr lp, it's a corporate world.

it's been done before. there's nothing new here. it's overproduced and slick. it's still good for summertime background music, cold beers and grilling.

Not really Music of 2011-related, and gonna post it in my thread, but anybody looking to buy records needs to get up to Lunchbox in Charlotte fucking immediately. Dude just marked down an asston full of records and already has the most baller prices in the state that I've seen. Please do yourself the favor.

Try out Graveyard - Hisingen Blues
For a new throwback. Robert Plant vocals, Hendrixish guitar, lame band name

Metal goodness probably 2010 but basically unknown
Le Grand Guignol - The Great Maddening
Orakle - Tourments Et Perdition
