if hurney being a ratard this year helps get luck next year, then fine by me. patrick peterson in 2011!
3/12/2011 11:09:46 AM
take peterson, have JR sabotage any sort of CBA agreements until its too late to play any games this season, and take luck. 2-14 to 14-2 in 2 seasons, SUPER BOWL CHAMPS.
3/12/2011 3:29:24 PM
Tom Talked on Twitter and said it's looking more like they will take Newton #1

You are a fart factory, Slug-slimed, sack-of-rat-guts-in-cat-vomit, cheesy, scab-picked, pimple-squeezing finger bandage. A week old maggot burger with everything on it and flies on the side!

i cant stand tom sorenson. not only does he come across as egotistical, but he also writes like 14 year old girl. with short sentences. choppy sentences. i hate it.

Speaking of Brady and Manning, I do know they each had an assload of snaps in the shotgun formation last season, like 400 or 500 apiece

is AJ Green really that good?is Patrick Peterson really that good?can someone talk about these two players? i do not follow SEC football whatsover, except for carolina...
3/22/2011 9:19:06 AM
Just read some draft sitesNot sure why you'd value mine or Ribs opinion over someone who covers the draft for a living'sTho I am flattered
3/22/2011 9:22:24 AM
^ thisI'm just on the Peterson bandwagon for a couple reasons1) There's really not a been a CB/KR gamebreaker-type guy to come out since Charles Woodson a decade ago. He shores up multiple holes immediately on our roster and is guaranteed to be a major contributer week one if he is on the Panthers' roster. He's faced multiple NFL receivers over 3 seasons in the SEC so we have a good idea of how good he actually is.2) All the other prospects in the top ten are projects in some shape or form. We need to do the least amount of "gambling" possible with this pick. A bust here (especially at QB) and we won't be winning our division for the foreseeable future. Of the top 5 quarterbacks in this draft, probably one will actually pan out. No one, not even scouts, have any idea which one. That's too big a risk for that kind of money/draft position in my opinion.Peterson has been consistently making plays since the moment he stepped on LSU's campus. He played in every game as a freshmen there and started at corner for the last 4 that year. Youtube is filled with Peterson highlight montages. Go check them out if you haven't already.I also like the fact that he had 257 PR/KR yards vs Carolina
3/22/2011 8:04:27 PM
^pretty much what he said.I don't think AJ Green is worth a #1 pick. He's good, but there are talented WR's every year. Plus you could argue that Julio Jones will be a better pro.If the Panthers weren't set at LB, I would say they should draft Von Miller, but that won't happen.
3/22/2011 9:05:41 PM
they could always grab a wr with their 2nd rounder, oh wait
3/22/2011 9:45:03 PM
Yup, been firmly on the Peterson bandwagon for a while. I'd be ok with Dareus or Fairley, just because they'd give us an impact player at a position of need. Just hell no to Newton or Quinn, and Bowers to a lesser extent. Actually, Von Miller might be the way to go. He'd give us one hell of a pass-rushing OLB.[Edited on March 22, 2011 at 9:59 PM. Reason : Maybe we switch to a 3-4?]
3/22/2011 9:58:08 PM
Dareus is my #2 choice if we don't go for PetersonSpeaking of Vonn Miller, I wish RR would convert us to a 34. The majority of the nastiest defenses currently in the NFL kill teams with confusion and pass rushing out of that formation. Miller would be a perfect fit as a first conversion piece in that scenario.
3/22/2011 10:05:45 PM
^ I think linebacker is the very least of our issues right now...
3/22/2011 10:23:33 PM
duh
3/23/2011 5:37:33 AM
Panthers will likely receive a 3rd round compensatory pick...
3/23/2011 9:51:42 AM
so how does the new kickoff rule change affect everyone's opinion on taking Peterson 1st?
3/23/2011 10:02:38 AM
i've been wanting to draft him as a corner first, returner second. so IMO, not much
3/23/2011 10:09:26 AM
Besides, he's more valuable returning punts.
3/23/2011 10:12:51 AM
Cant return punts if the defense cant stop the other team.At this point, idc who they draft AS LONG AS it ends up being worth it.
3/24/2011 8:49:16 AM
excellent contribution n00b
3/24/2011 6:02:56 PM
insider article on why peterson should go #1
3/24/2011 8:18:21 PM
Drafting PP only makes sense as long as the Panthers still finish last next year letting them draft Luck.Middling 8-8 every year gets you nowhere.
3/24/2011 8:48:56 PM
We got a compensatory pick from the league and it's a 3rd rounder #97 overall for losing Pep.

what is the purpose of the "@" in tweets? seems totally unnecessary and just makes them look even dumber than they already are
3/26/2011 2:27:33 PM
it's part of the username ... the coding uses the @ to automatically make a link to the user's profile
3/26/2011 2:28:43 PM
3/26/2011 9:38:22 PM
lets take a qb nobody is interested in as the number 1 pick. sounds like a solid idea

Marshall is gone, Gamble is Jekyll and Hyde and Munnerlyn is still unproven. We definitely need help at that position, enough so that we should strongly consider Peterson number 1.

A good ready by the observer about the possibility of trading the #1 pick and how those have turned out. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/03/19/2156231/panthers-no-1-dilemma-keep-or.html

Someone please explain to me why Cam Newton isn't Jamarcus Russel. Or at best Vince Young or Tim Tebow (with a somewhat better arm than Tebow)
3/31/2011 4:34:55 PM
To steal a quote about Jamarcus from Something Awful:

that quote is quite funny but the last line killed it... dept of redundancy dept
