statefansnation is a wasteland. they provide 0 value to the NC State fan who wants real information on our school. obsessed is an understatement when it comes to them and UNC.

Our talent and depth at DE took a big hit this year. We lost Akinniyi, Lemon, and Augustin (all seniors). If we're so bad at DE that Frandsden can come in and win the starting job immediately, then I'm highly concerned. We need Cato-Bishop to recover quickly from his injury. Also, props to Byrd for coming back strong and winning the starting CB job. Sucks for Wilson that he got bumped down. I remember in '09 when he won the starting job over incumbent DeAndre Morgan as a redshirt freshman.

^ once Rashard Smith gets out on the practice field, he may knock Byers off the two-deep as well. This year, our 2nd-ary may actually be good enough that we get more coverage sacks. Also remember, Frandsen is a beast, he was no chump when he got here.[Edited on July 22, 2011 at 12:35 PM. Reason : ]

i would like to know where Mustafa is?
7/22/2011 12:41:09 PM
^He's hurt.
7/22/2011 12:41:46 PM
so do they not note anyone who is hurt? i thought hes going to be back full force for fall practice
7/22/2011 12:42:25 PM
I didnt know Underwood decided to return until I looked it up a min ago. Last I had heard he was no longer with the team. good news
7/22/2011 12:52:18 PM
Why isn't Tony Creecy playing yet? Also, I hope Rashard Smith comes back soon!
7/22/2011 12:56:26 PM
Are we sure Rashard Smith isn't on the CB depth chart because of injury? I mean, he's list as #2 PR.
7/22/2011 1:06:54 PM
^^because TC is a RS freshman who has never played a down of college football.
7/22/2011 1:33:55 PM
Creecy is also 5th on the depth chart1. Washington2. Underwood3. Barnes4. Greene (could jump everyone once he comes back)5. Creecy
7/22/2011 3:14:07 PM
If Washington is our starting RB this season, we are up shit creek unless he learned how to actually pass block.
7/22/2011 3:54:44 PM
I guess Haynes has given up playing RB. He can afford to drop the ball on defense more than on offense. This is just an organizational chart btw so don't take it super serial yet. DL does make me , though.

Yeah, but Washington dances too much and is a godawful pass blocker.Either way, Greene needs to stay healthy, or Barnes better be good.
7/25/2011 11:23:35 AM
More press on Glennon, this time from the Winston-Salem Journal. Not much new here, but some good stuff to see:
7/25/2011 11:29:53 AM
looking at the defensive back 7 makes me a little excited.
7/25/2011 11:35:04 AM
I hope we get to see Barnes this year. He's been so limited by injuries that we haven't really seen what he's capable of yet.
7/25/2011 11:36:30 AM
^^ I'm really pumped about our secondary. I never thought I would say that, but there is so much potential there after a couple years of growing pains.
7/25/2011 11:50:50 AM
I’m pumped for the entire defense, especially since it's their second year in the Tenuta scheme. In the secondary, I think we’ll have the best set of safeties in the league. Bishop is as solid as they come, and Wolff seems like a star in the making – he was all over the place last year. The starting CBs have potential to be great ones too, as does Rashard Smith if he’s completely healed up. The depth here is good too.At LB, Manning should be even beastlier this year as long as he stays healthy. I think Cole will actually be better on the inside than he was on the edge once he gets a little experience there. He's definitely got the size, speed, smarts, and instincts you want in a MLB ... though he's not the best open-field tackler. SLB should be a wild card. Sucks about EJ Carter, but the staff seems pretty high on DJ Green. He’s supposedly got good speed and cover skills, and he’s certainly got good height at 6'4. Seems a little lanky though (only listed as 215). We’ll see.The line shouldn't be awful either. Our DT's should be pretty solid with Sweezy and Kuhn. DE looks weak as first glance, but Rieskamp has always been a sneaky-good end, and Fransden has a beast-like reputation. The depth seems pretty untested, but hopefully someone steps up.Overall, pretty pumped about this entire unit.
