I realize this thread is about those who have started their own weightloss program.... which I have not...or whatever.me in feb (roughly 185 lbs):me last weekend at the beach (roughly 175 lbs):only thing i really changed to my overall health/fitness routine was my diet. eating less and better. that and not lifting as much lately because i got a little lazy about it lately and ultimately enjoy running and cardio sports more.[Edited on June 4, 2010 at 10:55 AM. The general idea is that if you eat many small meals throughout the course of the day (like every 3 hours or so), your metabolism will keep churning. Now, how that applies to eating 3800 calories a day, I have no idea, unless you're going on the "it'll help me build muscle and muscle burns more calories" concept.
6/4/2010 10:52:27 AM
I'm not buying it. I'm a gas guzzling biturbo v8 of metabolism though.
6/4/2010 10:55:24 AM
I do know that eating less and running a lot does not work for meso I'm giving this diet a try and going back to lifting more often

Dear Agent 0:Put a tan on it, then see what it do.
6/4/2010 11:08:01 AM
your body composition looks much better in the second picture Joie. weight is just a number at that point, one you can ignore.

^^my tanning game is a slow train comin...ill be dark brown by august but it takes me a few times out in the sun to get things going

For lunch I went to Panera... I had the new strawberry chicken poppy seed salad (w/ low fat chicken soup and a whole wheat baguette) and it was ahhhhh-maaaaazing chicken, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, oranges, pecans, and (reduced fat, lower sugar) poppyseed dressingOh ps... idk what the F I did to my right lower back or my R hamstring but both are incredibly tight

I don't see what's wrong with Agent 0's build at 185 lbs. I'd certainly be happy with that. But different strokes, etc.
6/4/2010 12:28:45 PM
I think he looked better at 185
6/4/2010 12:29:36 PM
agreedIm at 177 now and wouldnt mind getting to 180-185 but since its summer Im prolly gonna cut down a few pounds.
6/4/2010 12:32:48 PM
so, am I thinking right here?the body is like a furnace, so food is fuel for that furnaceat 214 lbs, a personal trainer and http://www.livestrong.com told me to eat ~3078 calories to lose 2 lbs. per week. And if I worked out that day, I need to eat those calories, too?what happens if I only eat 2800 calories per day AND work out ~1000 calories?does my body think it's starving because I'm back down to only 1800 calories?

PackMan and begonias:any tips on making my arms smaller? I know that may sound like a silly question but I have a feeling the answer will be just to continue to lose weight and see how it turns out..[Edited on June 4, 2010 at 12:51 PM. Reason : oops]
6/4/2010 12:50:55 PM
^^it's a little more complicated than that...I think you'd be just fine doing what you stated thoughI tend not to use too much cardio for weight loss, however, since I'm already eating less and anything outside of my typical weightlifting seems annoying. 3 days of weight + 2 days of interval training + caloric deficit should be enough to lose weight/maintain muscle^ sadly, you must continue to lose weight....make sure you're also doing proper arm work (and when I say this, I personally mean heavy chin-ups and dips and presses)[Edited on June 4, 2010 at 12:53 PM. maybe the second pic is just bad...I'm not really getting the perception that you're leanerif you are, then I understand why you're happy
6/4/2010 12:59:46 PM
i lost a lot of extra body fat off my stomach and sides, but you're right it doesnt show up well in the second pic. probably 2 inches off my waist as well.

psychologically, yes.but we weren't talking about that.and I can easily fit in my 3000+ calories (clean) in 8 hours**Intermittent fasting (I fast 16 hours/eat for 8)
6/4/2010 1:13:07 PM
I have to eat every 3 hours just to get the amount of calories. So yeah that part of what you mentioned is true. I have not been hungry in weeks so I imagine the first part is valid as well.
6/4/2010 1:13:29 PM
i really only eat 2 meals a day. i usually eat a packet of quaker instant oatmeal (maple and brown sugar) around 0630 before i go running, and then for lunch i have a salad or a sandwich from the potbellys across the street. usually chicken salad on either. for dinner i usually don't eat big at all. maybe 2 times a week ill eat a small serving of protein (no homo) like chicken, along with some stirfried or steamed vegetables, and maybe a little rice or quinoa. but again thats only 2 times a week tops. if anything ill have a small snack like a handful of mini peanut butter pretzel sandwiches. usually in teh evening all i do is drink a couple diet sodas or some water. and that's with running 20-30 miles a week and playing squash 2 or 3 times a week.

6/4/2010 1:21:04 PM
^^^^agreedjust wanted to make sure people weren't going to draw the conclusion that they might as well not eat often because it doesnt affect their metabolism. when, its still a great idea to eat frequent small meals through the day.plus h8r and quinn were talking about it being difficult to get in their calories on workout days on page 17.[Edited on June 4, 2010 at 1:21 PM. ^I agree...whole food is def. the way to go when trying to lose weight
6/4/2010 1:32:50 PM
I can't say that I'm eating shitty, but I just haven't been eating... I haven't had like 60g of protein for the past 2 days (everything else has been at about 50% of my DV). My gym membership expired and this is the week of graduation/awards night, etc., so I've been extremely busy and haven't found time to go to a new gym (I'm going to go with a friend who is also doing NROTC). I'm hoping to start over tomorrow and go to the gym; hopefully I don't ruin my diet with festivities.

Yes. When I switch up my routine, especially legs, I still feel DOMS up to 48 hrs post workout pretty regularly. I wouldn't worry about it. You'll know if it's an injury vs. soreness!** Oh, but I usually feel it pretty good the day after too, so that probably doesn't help.[Edited on June 4, 2010 at 3:34 PM. Reason : x]

Yea i always get hit harder the second day. Like NyM said especially with legs. There have been times where i'd have to work real hard to not have my knees buckle from underneath me.
6/4/2010 3:56:58 PM
whenever i do squats or lunges my ass is always killing me a couple days afterward, especially going up steps.
6/4/2010 4:00:55 PM
DOMS usually sets in 48 hours after
6/4/2010 4:21:23 PM
squats......2 days later, screw the stairs, where's the elevator?
6/4/2010 4:21:24 PM
damn how come i didnt know about this thread.i want to play along too!
6/4/2010 4:56:40 PM
Does anyone else actually enjoy the feeling of DOMS?
6/4/2010 5:01:18 PM
quads are still sore from my workout on Wednesday...I'm quite glad they are, I miss the DOMS feeling. Too much workout = no more sore, just extreme fatigue.
6/4/2010 5:04:04 PM
^^yes, but not enough to work out as much as I should
6/4/2010 5:28:26 PM
just make sure you realize that DOMS does not necessarily mean you had a good workoutin other words, if you added weight to the bar or did an extra set, but aren't sore the next day or 2, don't worry about it.
6/4/2010 5:32:28 PM
I love the feeling of DOMS. When I used to workout, I would be sore the following day, but not much, then when I woke up the 2nd morning after the workout, bam, I was dead with soreness, but I LOVED IT! And it lasted for another 2-3 days AFTER the 2nd day (i.e., total of 4-5 days). A couple of times when I had been off from lifting and got back into it, the soreness lasted exactly 7 days after leg day!!!My favorite parts for soreness:Glutes (the best!!!) (one for lunch and one verifying and requesting refills)my legs have been super sore (the whole leg!) since i startedi know that it's because i'm very used to being on my feet for that long but i think the shoes may be adding a little.....ooomph

6/4/2010 10:09:12 PM
Sodium intake looks insane today. Mostly because I ate a couple sandwiches with a bunch of deli sliced turkey. On the good side I did get my protein and fiber up some.Had a great back workout, and then a 6.5 mile run.
