in boring offseason notes, the Panthers retained 75.4% of last year's roster. with all the change, i figured it would be lower but i suppose notVikings retained the most at 94.4%Seahawks retained the least at 66.1%
6/8/2010 9:07:27 PM
this is why some of us haven't been freaking out
6/8/2010 9:16:43 PM
yeah i'm not worried...in fact i'm excited to see what these younger guys can do
6/8/2010 9:23:51 PM

hahaha that's awesomeabout 2 years ago i saw him at the Harris Teeter at Rea and Colony in Charlottei told him how much i loved the panthers[Edited on June 8, 2010 at 10:35 PM. Reason : ^does he have groovin' moves?]

Thomas Davis may have just reinjured his ACL yesterday. i am praying that this is not true, but he took a spill yesterday and sources say he was rolling on the ground screaming. please god. no.
6/9/2010 8:40:02 AM
6/9/2010 8:48:46 AM
from the reports, it looked like he walked off on his own, so that's good news.
6/9/2010 9:09:43 AM
most ACL injuries you can walk away from...just saying.

Mac Attack this morning did not sound optimistic at all about TD
6/9/2010 12:05:02 PM
I should've asked Fox what he knew last night but I had a nice buzz going and didn't think of itHe has a little rhythm though
6/9/2010 2:10:50 PM
he would have just said "i know what i know cause it is what it is so let me be where i be"
6/9/2010 2:13:50 PM
He would've said "Thomas has a leg"
6/9/2010 2:20:05 PM
the leg has to work harder to get better.
6/9/2010 3:29:53 PM
im looking forward to seeing what matt moore can do
6/9/2010 3:36:21 PM
Charlotte Observer is reporting that TD has torn his ACL again and will miss the season.
6/9/2010 5:56:03 PM
this is terrible news.
6/9/2010 5:58:47 PM
Eric Norwood better be a fucking beast
6/9/2010 6:01:08 PM
that is some NC State shit right there. Hopefully, a combination of James Anderson/Jamar Williams/ Dan Connor will be sufficient at OLB.
6/9/2010 6:10:47 PM
holy shit, that news alone almost totally killed my excitement for next yr, I guess I can focus on the offense now and how all these qbs will develop
6/9/2010 7:13:11 PM
shit happensdavis is awesome, but I can at least count on Fox to find a linebacker to plug in.
6/9/2010 7:16:19 PM
I say we offer Adalius Thomas a one year deal to shine here (and then move on when TD heals up) or sunset here (he's old by now). Also wish we hadnt already lost the option of Will Witherspoon who just went to the Titans. He was beastly when he was here from 2003-2005.
6/9/2010 9:55:26 PM
^I think its pretty safe to say the panthers aren't bringing any big names in this off season.LB was one of the few positions where we actually have some quality depth, so it could have been worse...Imo, he shouldn't have been practicing so soon after an acl injury anyway...7 months is a really quick return, regardless of how the healing process has went.

damn that sucks about Davis. I forgot about Norwood. He'll provide good depth but hopefully Fox can plug someone else in so that Norwood doesn't have to be depended on as a rookie. Break him in on special teams.
6/10/2010 10:52:57 AM
Thank you Moose for all your contributions to the Panthers! A true professional and great person. They should honor his jersey in the stadium this Fall.
6/10/2010 12:49:31 PM
^^James Anderson will likely play a lot of minutes there...that's the pass rush spot, so I doubt Connor would slide in, especially since he has been playing MLB recently(i imagine that will change with the injury to Davis). not sure which side Norwood will play yet, but I imagine he would be good in run support in Diggs' old strongside position taking on TE's. also his coverage skills aren't NFL ready yet, so Anderson's speed and athleticism probably means Anderson/Williams in Davis' spot and Norwood/Connor on the other side?...they need some more depth to make all that work.Congrats on a great career to Moose!
6/10/2010 2:26:44 PM
Dan Connor is awfully white to be starting at linebacker for our team
6/10/2010 2:28:05 PM
he's certainly no 4.47 40 yard dash Thomas Davis
6/10/2010 2:32:19 PM
White linebackers are the new black linebackers.
6/10/2010 2:33:32 PM
Moose retiring was the 2nd moment Ive had in the last week that made me realize DAMN i'm old. (griffey)I always had a good feeling about him when we drafted him, partly because I just love big receivers.Great career, wish we couldve retained him when he left for chicago but both sides realized it was a pure business decision.Hopefully he's set himself up financially and he really did just let his house go was because it was so far underwater.Lot of controversy for one career, I still blame him for blowing up the nigger comment that forced Kerry Collins out and left us high and dry but he was a great Panther. He's one of the only receivers to lead the league in receptions, yards, and TD's in a single season. He's testified in Diedra Lane and Rae Carruth's murder trials. He has the super bowl record for longest TD ever. He made comments about turtle's being green and got flamed. He took responsibility in Chicago for Kyle Orton being terrible. He caught a TD pass in two separate super bowls. His real name is Melvin. Its impressive that he was only ever caught with soft drugs in the NFL after coming from Michigan State... he was barely before Jeff "where there's Coke there's Smoke" Smoker, Charlie "Pills" Rodgers, and TJ "Fuckit i cant read" Duckett.[Edited on June 10, 2010 at 6:56 PM. WLB is nothing new to Beason. He used to play that position in college, and with the Panthers when Dan Morgan was playing MLB.
6/11/2010 1:35:57 PM
Beason will make plays wherever he is on the field...Connor is who I'm worried about, mostly because he's an unknown right now due to all of his injuries
6/11/2010 1:38:25 PM
I'm actually not that worried about Dan Connor. I thought he was a draft steal few years ago. The guy was a beast in college. The only real concern about him is his relatively lack of athleticism compare to Beason, but not a lot of LBs are more athletic than Beason anyway. The MLB position doesn't require as much athleticism as the OLB positions, so I think Connor will do fine.

I CATCH FOOTBALL
6/16/2010 10:19:35 PM
he needs a watch for each hand to catch that ball?
6/16/2010 10:37:57 PM
one watch tells him mortal time, the other watch tells him that he's on god's time.

6/18/2010 5:18:43 PM
probably just more bullshit...none of the local papers have anything about anything like that
6/18/2010 5:44:21 PM
no the insider article actually stated that Cantwell was taking 2nd team reps, but Clausen would probably slide up soon [Edited on June 18, 2010 at 7:59 PM. Reason : i'd post it but in a rush][Edited on June 18, 2010 at 8:00 PM. Reason : espn rumors page = middle school journalism]

Steve Smith broke his arm. Hopefully hell be back for the regular season.

He had surgery last night and a plate was inserted apparently. His agent said he would be ready by the first game, though. Our #1 going into camp is now Dwayne Jarrett. yikes.
6/21/2010 1:02:06 PM
Panthers turning into the Wolfpack....
6/21/2010 1:04:54 PM
This was a flag football game with kids. Was he trying to lay out and pick off a pass. I wouldn't blame the Panthers if they withhold game checks if he misses any of the regular season. Oh well now this makes TO a very attractive option for the Panthers that they can probably get semi-cheap.
