Didn't say it was. I was pointing out Cutcliffe's credentials. I never said fire TOB or something ridiculous.

I LOVED the TOB hire when it happened. I'm still on his side. Still a lot of football left. If we turn it on this year like the last two years then none of you will say shit. I do think we are headed for MAYBE 6-6.

yea... which 4 are we gonna win to make a bowl game?

In all seriousness, who wants to take a guess?

@BC
@FSU
Maryland
Clemson
@VT
UNC

I don't see us winning any of those. The entire nation knows our weakness. We know our weakness and apparently we can't do anything to fix it.

We might squeak out another win and hand an embarrassing loss to... I don't know who. Maryland, why not.

Maybe one of those teams will start getting cocky and their QB will just turn his back to the defense and start tossing the ball over his shoulder, bridal bouquet style. We might be able to play that team fairly close.

Why can't we have the bye before we head up to BC.

I hate losing to those assholes.

^^^First off, I don't think we make a bowl, but I'll play along.

I think we can beat BC, Maryland, and UNC. Those are three very winnable games.

Then we'll have to steal one of the remaining three. VT isn't happening. FSU might, but I don't like our odds in Doak. So I'd have to say Clemson. Parker will be a good QB, but he's not going to shred us like Skinner/Lewis (two 4-year starters).

Once in a while? Duke hasn't beaten us in 25 years @ C-F. Please enlighten me with how long it's been since they hung 49 on us?

I'll still be rooting for NCSU in every game this season, but other than the UNC game (which I already have a ticket for) I dunno if my money's worth spending on a ticket. Maybe homecoming against MD.

I've seen this 25 year thing tossed around quite a bit. Someone must have said something slightly incorrect on TV.

11/06/1993 @Duke L 20 21
11/11/1989 @Duke L 26 35
11/12/1988 *Duke T 43 43
11/16 /1985@Duke L 19 31
11/17 /1984 *Duke L 13 16

The last time they beat us in CF was 25 years ago. The last time they beat us was 16 years ago, we didn't even play them for 4 of those years. Still super embarrassing though.

They scored:
43 in 1988
45 in 1987 (and still lost)
42 in 1956 (to our zero)
but to get to that magic at least 49 you have to go all the way back to 1952:
We lost 57 to 0.

It's the 4th time in history they've put up at least 49 on us... and Duke was a lot better than us a loooong time ago. History repeats.

I think everyone was referring to that last time they beat us at carter finley which was in '84. So much for that 11 game winning streak. They still lead the all-time series 40-36

^never in my life would I bet the farm on NCSU. The only thing they're consistently good at is letting you down when you least expect it (and almost always when you DO expect it).

so he shredded us 2 years in a row. gg archer

TOB said it was because we didn't play good defense, but i still think u have to give it up to Duke. Some of those passes were open, but alot of those passes were defended about as well as you can defend them and Lews just made great throws but more importantly, i don't recall a Duke WR dropping a pass. We did hit some guys hard etc. but no real drops like we are unfortunately used to seeing. Duke's Offense looks for real. I think Thaddeus was just going thru the motions maybe against Richmond and benching him lit a fire under his butt. The dude was like a surgeon on Saturday.

Pretty much all of this is false. The majority of Thad's passes were to wide open receivers and Duke had to have dropped atleast 5 passes (although they only seemed to drop short passes, never the long ones).

I feel like you may be operating under the assumption that Archer believes leaving receivers wide open is bad defense. While this assumption would be valid were it any other defensive coordinator on the face of the planet, I'm starting to believe that Archer marches to the beat of a different drummer. Said drummer plays for the "Let's give a ten-yard cushion to their receivers regardless of down and distance and dare them not to pick up 9 free yards on every pass play" band. The band just signed with the "How in the fuck does he have a job?" record label. They're new album, "Fire Archer Immediately" should be hitting store shelves any day now.

No, I agree, it feels like Archer's defense relies entirely on the opposing team's offense making stupid mistakes.

he wasnt really that bad against richmond. i mean, he certainly couldve been better but it would be like blaming RW for losing this or the wake game. Now, the army game he wasnt that great and got bailed out by his backup when he went out with an injury

duke had a couple drops early. it just didnt matter because they converted seemingly every third down
