so how do you feel about being the one of like 2 regular contributors in this thread and sometimes triple and quadruple posting?i am debating on whether or not to start a villanova football thread
12/28/2009 12:19:17 AM
its more for informational purposes, a UT clearinghouse, not for ongoing discussions... its rare someone has something that I didnt already know so of course most of the posts will be by me
12/28/2009 12:25:59 AM
It's true. Most of my Tennessee football news comes from WBIR.com, UTsports.com, Tennessee Scout page and Jaybee.

So it is based on hype. Thanks for answering my question.
12/28/2009 1:02:12 PM
the opinion of people who know what they are talking about isnt automatically equal to hype.the results are the team being drastically better, having a top 10 recruiting class last year with basically 2 months to get it, and having a top 5 class this year, maybe top 3, shows that its not hype.Outplaying the probable national championship team who is flat out LOADED (and with a great coaching staff of their own) was all coaching, great job. Every aspect of the team was better, Crompton became a good player, Hardesty had a great year behind a shitty O-line (talent wise, once again, great coaching).if you actually watched the games and knew what you were talking about instead of just trolling based on the W/L record that you looked up you might not sound so ignorant[Edited on December 28, 2009 at 1:09 PM. yeah, he is just one of the constant trollers, will continue to troll anything he doesnt happen to like no matter what, its retarded^ their ST is the only thing good on that team. "knoxville media" isnt the one saying it, no one has quoted anything from the vast "Knoxville media"not being a homer at alland its only "a couple" of recruiting classes, because guess what?!?! they have only been there two seasons! and how can you NOT use outplaying the best team they have played in their tenure on the road as a barometer of good coaching?not to mention the Florida game where they were 28+ point underdogs (and I correctly predicted that the dumb shits on here would begin to dismiss that game as we got further and further away from it even though they were the ones claiming Florida would win by 40)[Edited on December 28, 2009 at 1:22 PM. ^^ so, if somehow you hired Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to head up your new computer company they would just be "hype" instead of people with a proven track record of being successful? if someone is good at what they do, and have been good in the past, and then they go somewhere new, thats not "hype"^ and if he could have kept that level of performance up then it would be justified... its not like Kiffin did it and then sucked for 3 years, in the limited time he has had he's done a good joband http://bleacherreport.com/articles/179720-the-schottey-six-top-nfl-special-teams-for-2009#page/7 #2 (and no, this wasnt written by the world traveling "KNOXVILLE MEDIA")[Edited on December 28, 2009 at 1:30 PM. 12/28/2009 1:27:06 PM
12/28/2009 1:29:18 PM
yup, its amazing. and then they post these stupid conditions and shit, according to that there is only ONE good team each year and every single other team/coach sucks
12/28/2009 1:29:28 PM
so now everybody who doesn't suck tennessee's dick and admit they have the best coaching staff in the country is a trollgotcha
12/28/2009 1:30:47 PM
no, you dont have to agree with it, but dumbshit was making it sound ridiculous that they were even mentioned as suchand just because you agree with something doesnt mean you are "sucking their dick"I cant stand Saban, but I have no problem admitting that he is as good as any coach in the country, I dont just blindly argue against him in order to keep from "sucking his dick"[Edited on December 28, 2009 at 1:33 PM. heres the bottom line...its a pretty bold statement for any school or fan to say they have the best coaching staff in the country...teams like USC, Texas, Florida and Alabama are on the short list...to claim that Tennessee has the best coaching staff in the country after a 7-5 season is not very objective at alljaybee you do realize that people wouldnt give you as hard of a time about tennessee if you werent the self proclaimed most objective poster in sports talk right?[Edited on December 28, 2009 at 1:33 PM. If Meyer comes back, I don't think Tennessee even has the best coaching staff in their division]
12/28/2009 1:35:00 PM
as I said, you cant just go by record... you go by actual improvement of the team. And to see how far they came after Fulmer's last team to outplaying Alabama on the road...if Saban for some reason left Bama for UAB I PROMISE you he would have a worse record than he did at Bama, that doenst mean he is any less of a coach
12/28/2009 1:35:16 PM
12/28/2009 1:35:43 PM
if 1 out of 3 kicks go in they would have lost. I will take that any day against the probable National Champion. Did Bama outplay them for more minutes of the game? probably, but you would have to through play by play with a god damn stop watch which is silly... but it came down to 1 of 3 kicks going in which is normally pretty good odds... and hopefully god damn special teams will be fixed now[Edited on December 28, 2009 at 1:39 PM. I am mostly basing my "best" statement on the coachs' qaulifications
12/28/2009 1:39:16 PM

^^ I agree that he wouldnt say "he sucks", but as good as any other coach is a bit stronger than "hes a really good coach", "he'll do a great job" blah blah^ once again, its based on improvement over the previous season, not just W-L... once Kiffin has been there 3-4 years, has his players etc. then yes, it will come down to that... but for now, its based on improvement from the previous season which was huge.[Edited on December 28, 2009 at 1:44 PM. I didn't say he wasn't a good coach. Or that he hasn't hired good coaches. But that's not the argument asshat.I will post it again b/c you girls have all got sand in your vaginas.
12/28/2009 1:46:03 PM
Nick Saban and Pete Carroll both went 6-6 in their first seasons so I guess they sucked until they won a NC. Logic.
12/28/2009 1:47:18 PM
ok... let me use a stupid example to show you how your logic sucks.Say your coaching staff had:SabanMeyerLombardiLandryParcellsMike Archerand that coaching staff was with a team for ONE year. Going by your logic if they didnt win a national championship immediately in THAT year, then its all hype.thats stupid
