my left hand is always on keyboard - so i got way used to doing the right click/c to close windows quickly... quickest way i knew of.i may see if there's a registry entry for "Close window" and change it to "&Close window" or something when i get home.

8/6/2009 1:13:25 PM
Technet must be getting hammered, this is the slowest download I've ever experienced.
8/6/2009 1:27:52 PM
yea, mines fluctuating from 170-200KB/s
8/6/2009 1:48:20 PM
lol yeah. this is hilarious. we kept refreshing our MSDN download pages all morning looking for it thx2u New Downloads RSS Feed. hopefully they'll be done by tomorrow morning.now if only they released the 2008 R2 RTM bits at the same time that's what i really needed.]
8/6/2009 1:48:56 PM

8/6/2009 1:52:27 PM
enterprise > ultimate ?ahh same thing - ultimate is just end-user[Edited on August 6, 2009 at 2:27 PM. Reason : ]
8/6/2009 2:25:48 PM
not the same thing.evan: Why in the hell are you downloading EVERY damn version? Just get the one(s) you need, and lighten the load for the other million people trying to get theirs too. Seriously, you are downloading Enterprise AND home basic? Little less packratting
8/6/2009 2:34:11 PM
Serious, who needs Home Basic when you have Ultimate?
8/6/2009 2:37:32 PM
^^we actually need every version for testing, otherwise i wouldn't.
8/6/2009 2:43:11 PM
YOU DON'T NEED SHIT, SON
8/6/2009 2:44:47 PM
Yea, these speeds are terrible. I'm about to grab it somewhere else instead and just use the Technet key. It feels so dirty.[Edited on August 6, 2009 at 2:46 PM. Reason : ]
8/6/2009 2:46:00 PM
yeah, i'm tempted to torrent it, but i'm guessing only ultimate and/or enterprise are there.plus i'm at work [Edited on August 6, 2009 at 2:47 PM. Reason : ^nice edit, haha]
8/6/2009 2:46:55 PM
Haha, yea....
8/6/2009 2:48:00 PM
Windows 7 RTM is now installed on my main desktop and activated through Technet - happy day.

8/6/2009 5:35:00 PM
lol, touche.hashtab matches though, so I mean...[Edited on August 6, 2009 at 5:40 PM. Reason : probably user error.]
8/6/2009 5:37:33 PM
yeah, that matches the hash from the MSDN iso.there's no way it's not bootable.
8/6/2009 5:47:25 PM
ya know, i've never checked a hash in my life ever. i feel like i'm missing out on some right of passage for geekery
8/6/2009 6:13:15 PM
Don't sweat that shit, it's for girly men who can't handle serious checksums.
8/6/2009 6:14:58 PM
Man, MSDN/Technet must be getting hit hard...can't even access the downloads page anymore.
8/6/2009 8:01:11 PM
my download buttons are greyed out for enterprise and ultimate

8/7/2009 12:00:55 PM
Yeah I looked at that. It doesn't explain anything, since they were available last night and since I have a technet subscription, not a msdn subscription....OK, I see now, they are in the technet top downloads section as well.
8/7/2009 12:27:34 PM
yeah. i'm not sure how technet is laid out, but on MSDN there was a message saying "Please click Details for download information" underneath the download names... when you clicked Details, it told you to go to Top Downloads.]
8/7/2009 12:36:42 PM
Ah yeah, same thing. I didn't look at it too hard before work this morning because I already got them last night. Was gonna go back and get the 32 bit versions later though.
8/7/2009 12:38:23 PM
Does anybody know more about how windows xp mode works? I guess if you're using an application you installed under xp the vm image is running as long as the application is? And all applications running under xp mode would be limited (collectively) to the memory allocated for the xp image?I'd like to use xp mode for development. Work still uses xp and vs2k5, which kinda works under 7, but not well (last tested with RC, now using RTM).
8/10/2009 4:19:32 PM
^all it is is a pretty interface to microsoft virtual PC. if you want to run an XP app, it has to boot the VM first. and yes, you're limited to the resources allocated to the XP vm.
8/10/2009 4:53:03 PM
so the Windows 7 upgrade matrix, apparently made directly in response to Walt Mossberg's request, hasn't been posted yet? Really?and..... just for good measure [Edited on August 10, 2009 at 5:04 PM. Reason : .]
