5/6/2010 2:25:38 AM

Are you going to Of Montreal or Camera Obscura or neither June 2?
5/6/2010 6:09:19 PM
What say you of Passion Pit?
5/7/2010 12:34:13 PM
^ meh^^ neither. of montreal is too expensive. camera obscura aren't particularly interesting live unless you want to stare at the girls (and i wouldn't blame you).
5/7/2010 4:34:32 PM
Yeah i've seen bofi like of montreal when they avoid Skeletal Lamping
5/7/2010 4:44:54 PM
if you had to pick one sharon jones and the dap kings song as an introduction to someone to their catalog, what would you pick?your audience is a retired beatle-head who's been infatuated with music for ages.
5/11/2010 6:39:55 PM
I'd pick 100 Days, 100 Nights. The new one is really Motown-y, the first one is really deep funk to just jump into, and I only really like three or four songs on Naturally.
5/11/2010 6:56:03 PM
Who would play you in your bio pic? What would it be titled? If they have been asked, you may disregard those questions.
5/11/2010 7:09:01 PM
I'll think I'll just wait twelve years and rerelease Greenberg as my biopic.
5/11/2010 7:27:25 PM
Niiiiice.
5/11/2010 7:28:45 PM
Is it just me or is the harmonica bit in Karma Chameleon by Culture Club strangely out of place?
5/14/2010 4:06:57 PM
it was the '80sno random bit of instrumentation is out of place, especially if it's reed-basedchord organ, harmonica, harpsichord, etc.
5/14/2010 5:24:57 PM
Like caltrop?I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.
5/18/2010 2:21:10 PM

realizing that a precise answer is impossible, what's your best guess for average payment for a small show? let's say some band mostly fills up cat's cradle and has two openers. standard ~$10 tickets or whathaveyou. do the openers get paid anything beyond what they make selling merchandise?also, what are your thoughts on encores for shows such as this, where they're clearly just going through the motions of walking off stage to walk back on 20 seconds later?
5/26/2010 9:39:01 AM
The openers definitely make money in a situation where CC is mostly full, but it's been years since I played there so I don't know how they do their money. As an example, though, the last time we played Local Beer/Local Band on a three-band bill we made a couple hundred bucks, and that's on a show with no cover and a band with no merch.I think a lot of bands would like to only do encores when the response really warrants it, but when you're standing in the back and trying to figure out whether to go back on, how do you deny the people who are honestly yelling for more, even if there's only ten of them?

Did you ever pursue an MFA or do you just have a CW degree?
6/10/2010 4:33:23 PM
Just CW.
6/11/2010 9:58:16 AM
What was the most disappointing show you've ever seen?
6/11/2010 10:18:38 AM
Spiritualized at the Cradle. BRMC opened and weren't any better.
6/11/2010 11:35:26 AM
Did you at one point consider pursuing an MFA?If you decided against it, what were your motivations?I'm kind of thinking about the path myself and I'd like some input from people who may have been in that position, and TWW is kind of lacking in our department.
6/11/2010 6:31:43 PM
i never considered it seriously
6/11/2010 9:22:15 PM
Does The Jackpot have a facebook fan page?
6/13/2010 9:33:31 PM
what are your opinions on US Military Leaders at the time of the film "Radio Bikini"?
6/13/2010 9:35:24 PM
it's time for a new record playerwhat would you recommend? (the cheaper the better, of course)
6/15/2010 5:23:30 PM
you can find beat-up-but-functionally-perfect 1200s for ~$250 if you look hard.but if you want cheap and new, the audio-technica lp-60 isn't bad if you don't want anything fancy like pitch control or backwards playbackor i will sell you my panasonic from the '60s for $40...it's quirky but works great ]
6/15/2010 9:43:59 PM
way to ignore the hard one
6/15/2010 9:44:36 PM
^ that's not a question about music/lit/film
6/15/2010 9:45:14 PM
Radio Bikini is a film numb nuts
6/15/2010 9:46:45 PM
yes, but you asked my opinion of the military leadersand i couldn't give a fuck
6/15/2010 9:47:13 PM
military leaders in the film....
6/15/2010 9:47:30 PM
their actions have nothing to do with the filmmakingtheir portrayal has to do with the filmmaking, but the leaders themselves had nothing to do with thatthis is a political question, not an arts questionand i have no interest in politics
